>Jonathan_Lindh: AADESTU -AU +0 0
#note 2025 Crescent City Cup. Round 17. Note there is no Round 16, I had a bye that round because the division had an odd number of people. This looks best.
>Eric_Harshbarger: BOW 8G WOB +16 16
#note Well this is embarrassing. I allowed a phony 3.
>Jonathan_Lindh: AADENST F6 ANSATED +71 71
#note I make the board whole again.
>Eric_Harshbarger: EORZ E9 ZERO +46 62
>Jonathan_Lindh: BEEKMRU D10 KERB +38 109
#note D10 REBUKE for 44. This is phony because KET* is phony. Yes, you read this correctly, two expert level players playing unchallenged phony 3's on each other. None of us even caught these phonies after the game. If KET* were good, KERB, would be one of the best plays behind REBUKE.
>Eric_Harshbarger: GHUV E3 VUGH +27 89
>Jonathan_Lindh: EELMPRU G6 ME. +20 129
#note Best. I was setting up a 6 letter play to the triple hooking HAME.
>Eric_Harshbarger: DEEFIN H1 DEFINE +42 131
#note Eric took my idea.
>Jonathan_Lindh: EFILPRU 4C PF.I +18 147
#note I could not mentally get past UPRIFLED*. PRIDEFUL is the valid bingo through the D. I would probably find it if I was fresher earlier in the tournament.
>Eric_Harshbarger: AX I1 AX +21 152
>Jonathan_Lindh: EEELNRU 3H .ERULE +31 178
#note AX blocked UNREELED. FERULE looks best.
>Eric_Harshbarger: ALUV K1 UV.LA +16 168
>Jonathan_Lindh: ?AEINOO - +0 178
#note Trade 4 keeping EN?. 3D OVA for 13 to score a few points.
>Eric_Harshbarger: QT 5J Q.T +12 180
>Jonathan_Lindh: ?AENNNT 7I ANTENNa +63 241
#note Looks ok.
>Eric_Harshbarger: JMU C1 JUM. +30 210
>Jonathan_Lindh: AOOOTTY 8L TOOT +25 266
#note Looks fine.
>Eric_Harshbarger: ?CCEINR O1 CaRCIN..E +92 302
>Eric_Harshbarger: ?CCEINR -- -92 210
>Jonathan_Lindh: AIOOSWY N1 WOS +22 288
#note What would you do after CARCINATE*? I instantly saw Eric had the valid bingo CIRCINATE, and just needed to play his letters in the same order with a different blank designation. I wasn't willing to risk him trying CIRCINATE, so I decided to block CIRCINATE, while setting my self up for O1 OY for 35, C5 YAG for 31, and keeping YA for potential YAJE plays for 45. I think my play was pretty creative? When I specifiy Eric's full rack, WOS instantly rockets to 2nd place behind 2M YOW for 23, which keeps the tiles for SOJA for 36. I don't know how I feel about YOW. The YOW > SOJA could give Eric a big bingo starting with the S a few turns down the line and putting a Y at A1 seems a lot safer given Eric's CC leave. I thought this was a very fascinating position and probably one of my best strategic moves so far of 2025.
>Eric_Harshbarger: ?CCEINR 10A RIC... +14 224
>Eric_Harshbarger: ?CCEINR -- -14 210
#note Unfortunately for Eric, I studied RICKET* the night before and knew 100% it was not good. Quackle likes 2A ECU for 10 which Eric would play next.
>Jonathan_Lindh: ADIIORY O1 OY +35 323
#note Either this or O1 OI for 23. Both plays have nearly identical win chances.
>Eric_Harshbarger: ?CCEINR 2A EC. +10 220
#note Best
>Jonathan_Lindh: AADIIOR A1 A.RADIO +27 350
#note Best by far.
>Eric_Harshbarger: ?CILNOR H8 .RCINOLs +80 300
#note Best.
>Jonathan_Lindh: AAIIPST 8A SPIT +48 398
#note 14F TILAPIAS for 68. SPIT is one of the best non-bingo plays.
>Eric_Harshbarger: GI 1C .IG +12 312
>Jonathan_Lindh: AAEHIIR C13 AHI +20 418
#note 14F HALIER for 19. AHI wasn't great.
>Eric_Harshbarger: DEGILSY I11 DEY +25 337
#note I saw AHI gave up B10 GLIDES for 42 after I hit my clock.
>Jonathan_Lindh: AEIR 15E RAI.E +4 422
#note 15H sERAI for 5.
>Jonathan_Lindh: (GILS) +10 432
