>Dan_Wachtell: ADHHMOS - +0 0
#note Not actual rack. Dan exchanged 2 tiles to start this one.
>Samuel_Kaplan: DFINNOY 8D FINNY +30 30
>Dan_Wachtell: ITZ 7C ZIT +29 29
>Samuel_Kaplan: DEEIILO F4 OLEI.ED +27 57
#note This starts a pretty comical sequence. Instead of doing F4 IODI(N)E or even F4 ELOI(N)ED, I play this phony. This was never even held.
>Dan_Wachtell: AMNOS E4 SAN..MO +33 62
#note I should know by now that it's only MANITOS in this rack. SANTIM and SANTIMS are both good as well as SENTIMO, but not this. Dan had very nice board vision here, but I gotta call this off. But will the comedy of phonies end here though?
>Samuel_Kaplan: GHIOOSW 11B WHOS +40 97
#note And this silliness continues. Since I reasonably believed that Dan would not challenge SANTIMOS* if he played SANTIMO*, I figured I could get away with the S hook onto something that for some reason I thought was good. Instead of playing HOWS because that takes some hooks, I did a double take and Dan didn't even hold this either. While this is another inexcusable mistake on my end and his end (I don't even remember the last time I played a phony 4), I must ask: WHATS, WHERES, WHENS, and WHYS are all good but why not WHOS*? This is yet another inconsistency in this mysterious Scrabble dictionary.

>Samuel_Kaplan: ?AFIIPS 5E ..IF +7 129
#note I feel that I had the right idea here by making a move that's going to lead to blasting the board open on a future turn with an S and a blank. I am unsure why C5 FI(Z) sims well when that gives back a giant X spot for Dan to close the board down even further, which I don't want when my leave is very strong. This at least gives Dan something to think about.
>Dan_Wachtell: ACET 5D C....ATE +26 133
#note Nice play!
>Samuel_Kaplan: ?AIPRSS 15C SPIRAlS +93 222
#note Yep
>Dan_Wachtell: TTU 4I TUT +9 142
>Samuel_Kaplan: ?EHKQTU 3G KHET +24 246
#note I liked this play as a way of going for big QU- bingoes to try racking up more spread. I think that a better version of this is G3 KH(I) to keep a little better leave and there's just enough Os left to maybe hit something on the top. #foresightsmall
>Dan_Wachtell: OO H1 OO. +18 160
>Samuel_Kaplan: ?DEQRUV G13 QU. +22 268
#note Looks good, nice and aggressive to try racking up more spread. And the O is the perfect floater to try hitting OVER- bingoes on Row 1.
>Dan_Wachtell: DEIRTU 13G .UIRTED +36 196
>Samuel_Kaplan: ?DEORRV 1H .VERRODe +86 354
#note Correct location, but OVERDOeR scores 3 more. 9/10 for this one.
>Dan_Wachtell: EGNPU 6J UNPEG +23 219
>Samuel_Kaplan: AAADJLW 12K AWA +27 381
#note Not bad, but I should probably just get rid of the J now with other high pointers that I could draw that don't get a long with the J. Thus, M3 JAW(E)D would have been fine.
>Dan_Wachtell: AX 12G AX +47 266
>Samuel_Kaplan: ADJLNVY M3 JAD. +24 405
#note Don't know why I missed N10 JAY.
>Dan_Wachtell: EEL 11K EEL +22 288
>Samuel_Kaplan: AELNRVY N8 LEVY +25 430
#note Dan correctly pointed out after the game that I should probably do 10I RAN first since he doesn't score as much on his next turn.
>Dan_Wachtell: BBEIILM 8K BIB.E +30 318
#note His best move would have been 14M EBB instead.
>Samuel_Kaplan: ANR 10I RAN +9 439
#note Almost won the tournament. 6 wins is usually enough, but not when 3 people had 5 wins going into this one and I can find some spots where I could have racked up more spread. Just missed the tourney win by 17 spread points. On the flipside, I gained a healthy amount of rating points and am now at 1831!
