#note I thought about doing NYAH here. I wasn't sure whether it really scored enough to make it worth it to do over exchanging. With that said, SHARNY is definitely worth it, and it would have made a difference.
>Eric_Goldstein: EEEGLMN 8H GLEEMEN +76 76
#note Doing NYAH would not have stopped this from coming down, but SHARNY would have prevented this.
>Samuel_Kaplan: ADDLRST M1 STRADDL. +72 72
#note I didn't really deserve to draw into a bingo after making a pretty sizable mistake on my first play. But come to think of it, since I drew DDLT, I would have been saddled with the Q plus at least 4 other consonants. So maybe I would have exchanged on my 2nd turn.
>Eric_Goldstein: ?EIQ 2J QuI.E +66 142
#note Ah, nice. The Q would have been a liability for me and it helped him out greatly.
>Samuel_Kaplan: BCFITTV K8 .VICT +20 92
#note I was not doing K5 CIV(E)T as that blocks the lanes in STRADDLE that I am going to need, and doing EVICT over K7 B(E)FIT makes it much harder for Eric to close the board down in the long run since he can score much more easily by paralleling BEFIT. It also makes an S hook that will be hard for Eric to block.
>Eric_Goldstein: BHIR 12H BRI.H +26 168
>Samuel_Kaplan: BFKPTTU 4L K.PU +22 114
#note This and 10H TUP(I)K, which I saw, sim closely. The D is a reasonably easy lane to hit and TUP(I)K undoubles my T, so maybe that was a little better. Doesn't seem like 5 extra points is quite enough to justify keeping an extra T. #strategysmall
>Eric_Goldstein: FHIOPRV - +0 168
#note Not actual rack. Eric challenged KAPU.
>Samuel_Kaplan: BFIOTTT H12 .ITT +18 132
#note Another awful draw, but this was not a good play. I would do 3I FIT if I had to do this over again as that will create easier access to the left side of the board and disposes of my F. #visionlarge
>Eric_Goldstein: GJ 10J J.G +27 195
>Samuel_Kaplan: BEFOOTV 6J FOO. +16 148
#note I needed a way to eventually create easier access to the left side of the board, but this was not the way to do it. This gives back too many points to him. 9G FOO is more sound and there's still plenty of As and Es to draw, and I have an E to be able to make that plan work.
>Eric_Goldstein: ADHIP 5G APHID +33 228
#note That's why FOOD wasn't the right move.
>Samuel_Kaplan: BEOORTV H1 REBO. +30 178
#note It's not bad for the score, but if I wasn't willing to do 1M (S)OB as that appears to give up too many points, 4G BOOR once again makes a lane that will be easy to use to access the left side of the board and keeps better. But even better is 4B OBVERT as that forks vertical lines and dumps the V. #visionsmall
>Eric_Goldstein: EI 6J ....IE +12 240
>Samuel_Kaplan: AAIOOTV 6E OVA +16 194
#note He seems to have vowels, so I didn't mind putting another one in open space while still leaving the lanes in BITT and the N in GLEEMEN alone.
>Eric_Goldstein: EEO H7 O.EE +5 245
#note Somehow this was misscored as 4.
>Samuel_Kaplan: ACINOTY 5C COY +26 220
#note I liked this play a lot because Eric cannot reparallel this and he will have to end with the C to actualy block that new lane.
>Eric_Goldstein: EZ 10F ZE. +32 277
>Samuel_Kaplan: AADIINT 9K .ID +29 249
#note I just can't stop drawing bad racks. But I'm glad to see this play and slowly claw my way back in this.
>Eric_Goldstein: ?ELLOSU 15H .oLUOLES +74 351
#note Nice find Eric. This is where I am part of Sisyphean mythology: just when I had climbed up some of the mountain with a heavy object, I fell right back to the bottom.
>Samuel_Kaplan: AAAINST 11E AA +15 264
>Eric_Goldstein: AGMNOST 12B AMONG +31 382
>Samuel_Kaplan: AINNNST D4 N.NI +15 279
#note Haven't missed a bingo in a tourney game in quite some time, but I did miss D1 SANT(O)NIN here. That's a gettable one and spread matters. #findingsad
>Eric_Goldstein: TUX 13B TUX +39 421
#note This is just insult to injury lol.
>Samuel_Kaplan: ANRRSTY B11 R..TY +16 295
#note Not sure what to do here tbh. Maybe I can draw into INSNARE and 2A ANSERIN(E)?
>Eric_Goldstein: W 9G W. +18 439
>Samuel_Kaplan: AAENRSU 15A A. +15 310
#note Somehow I had a T in my tracking and thought maybe I could hit SAUTERNE on Row 1. The move should be 8A NAUSEA because he can bingo out with FANWISE with an R draw.
>Eric_Goldstein: AEFIRSW A8 WIFE +32 471
>Samuel_Kaplan: AENNRSU 13K SANER +26 336
#note Or SENNA in the same spot.
>Eric_Goldstein: ARS 8A .ARS +14 485
#note Great game Eric! Yea, that one was a clunker. It didn't help to only draw 2 of the 12 Es and not draw very many balanced racks, but there were some mistakes in there. SHARNY would have made a completely different board and he doesn't get his bingo down, but then I would have had drek afterward. Missing SANTONIN was just bad and lost too much spread there. Final score was recorded as 488-336. 4-1 +260. Many more things will have to go right if I want to win this game and the tournament because I have 4 wins, Eric has 4 wins, and Samuel Moch has 5 wins after 5 rounds, and I'm playing Samuel next.
