#player2 Noah_Goldstein Noah Goldstein
>Samuel_Kaplan: EGHTVYZ 8E GYVE +22 22
#note Looks to be about even with the 8G placement. Very important to ditch the clunkers and hang onto the flexible scoring tiles.
>Noah_Goldstein: PU F8 .UP +14 14
>Samuel_Kaplan: AEHKSTZ 11C ZEKS +43 65
#note Looks good. I chose this over HAZES to keep a Z underlap to score again next turn.
>Noah_Goldstein: ABT 12B BAT +25 39
>Samuel_Kaplan: ABEFHTU 7H FUB +14 79
#note I didn't see E11 (K)HAF, but this isn't too much worse. It felt reckless to set up an S hook that I don't have and keep a not very promising leave. With that said, a play that might fit the theme of playing it safer is 13D HUB, and it does sim ahead of FUB despite HATE being a usually better leave. #strategysmall
>Noah_Goldstein: EIILNOS K6 ISOLINE +73 112
#note Noah would have had 72 points at most with the bingoes in this rack if I had played HUB. So I feel better knowing he had something that plays.
>Samuel_Kaplan: AEGHOTY 13A YOGH +58 137
#note Yes. Solid finding here.
>Noah_Goldstein: OX 14A OX +47 159
#note Lol
>Samuel_Kaplan: AAEIITT J10 TITI +14 151
#note This play wasn't great. I had the right idea by blocking him from potentially getting QI down for 64, but this actually gives him back something else. J10 AIT would have done that just fine without giving up a lot of points. #visionsmall
>Noah_Goldstein: AQU I13 QUA +43 202
#note And what play does he make that scores this much if I had seen AIT?
>Samuel_Kaplan: AAAEHOS L8 HAE +24 175
#note It felt so wrong to leave Row 15 open like that, but Noah didn't necessarily fish when he just scored 43. I thought about doing L12 AAH or AHA at first with the better equity. At this score, it's time to open up another lane while I'm falling behind. I felt that the OHS hook that I have would be less likely to get blocked than the TEAS hook because Noah can score more on average while blocking if I put the H next to the 13M hotspot.
>Noah_Goldstein: ELO 15F OLE. +12 214
>Samuel_Kaplan: AAAORSS 12H RA..S +25 200
#note I saw ORA(TE)S but was not 100% sure if ORATE took an S. It does. #knowledgemedium
>Noah_Goldstein: ELO 14E OLE +11 225
>Samuel_Kaplan: AAEEIOS -AAEIO +0 200
#note I didn't see E10 O(K)E this time. This is also reasonable. I kinda wanted to just mostly start over and try to get a blank.
>Noah_Goldstein: M A13 ..M +24 249
>Samuel_Kaplan: ?DEIRSW M3 WEIRDoS +85 285
#note Didn't I just have this exact rack against David Firstman in Round 1? That's just wild. I guess this play is best...
>Noah_Goldstein: EEINRTT N9 TENTIER +72 321
#note ...but not if Noah gets a spot for this bingo. Ah well.
>Samuel_Kaplan: AAACERR 15L CA.E +27 312
#note I missed a really cool play here: 4K AR(E)CA. Even though it is a huge point sacrifice, Noah is going to have a hard time blocking the board after that, and there's still 3 Is and 4 Ns left to hit gerund bingoes on Column E. #visionmedium
>Noah_Goldstein: ADFT L2 DAFT +33 354
>Samuel_Kaplan: AANNRRV N2 VAR +24 336
#note Probably shouldn't be too concerned with responses from Noah on Column O at this point. VAN is fine.
>Noah_Goldstein: ?EIILNO E1 rEOILIN. +66 420
#note Not quite GG just yet, but my odds of pulling this one out aren't too good.
>Samuel_Kaplan: AAGNNRU 4A GARN. +16 352
#note I think I just have to hope Noah can't effectively block the large openings here. 4A GUAN(I)N is a slightly better version of this, but I honestly have nothing to lose either way.
>Noah_Goldstein: CIM 2B MIC. +16 436
>Samuel_Kaplan: ADDNNRU 6B DRU.D +15 367
>Noah_Goldstein: EJOOPW 2H JOWE. +24 460
#note This is the best spread play for him.
>Samuel_Kaplan: ANN O4 NAN +12 379
#note Best out play. I did not play my best game here, I think HUB is an improvement over FUB and AIT is definitely an improvement over TITI. Combined with those critical mistakes were some weird racks and the duplicate Ns and Rs were annoying. Great game Noah, he deserved to get me this time. 5-1 +410. Can't always clinch a tournament when I want to. But I at least have a 2nd chance to do that.
