>Samuel_Kaplan: DEHKORX 8C OXHERD +50 50
#note Good start.
>Eric_Goldstein: DEENT D7 E.TEND +28 28
>Samuel_Kaplan: FKLNORT E4 FORT. +24 74
#note This is simming ahead of FROTH due to the F6 hotspot, but it's neck and neck with F6 KN(E)LT as I get to keep my vowel. Eric won't bingo as often after KNELT, but he will score more on average after FORTH. Close call.
>Eric_Goldstein: IQ D3 QI +32 60
#note Sometimes we don't always guess right lol. I don't see as good of a QI spot for him after KNELT.
>Samuel_Kaplan: ABHKLNT 7C B..H +24 98
#note Definitely better than 7B KH(ET) as I keep a better scoring tile for next turn, but 10B BL(E)AK seems a bit better for 3 more, a little more balanced leave, and blocking the good floaters Eric has to bingo. #visionsmall
>Eric_Goldstein: ASY I6 AYS +28 88
>Samuel_Kaplan: ADKLMNT 10B KN.LT +21 119
#note Eric is up to something here. This time, the J6 hotspot suits my leave well enough that giving up 5 points to keep my vowel with KNELT over DANK is fine. I also like how well this takes away easy floaters for Eric to play 8s and will force him to potentially give me good floaters to bingo if he hooks AYS.
>Eric_Goldstein: EGINORS 5G IGNORES +73 161
#note I'm not sure why 13D SIGNORE is simming so far ahead of Eric's play here. I don't like that play with the J and Z still lurking.
>Samuel_Kaplan: AADDMRV L1 MADD.R +26 145
#note Yea, the V is bad enough that 4 points isn't quite worth it to do this over L1 DRAV(E). ADM is that much more flexible than AV is on this board. #strategysmall
>Eric_Goldstein: AITY 1K A.ITY +30 191
>Samuel_Kaplan: AAIIUVW J3 AV.W +31 176
#note If it wasn't for this play, it's pretty much either 11C U(N)AI or exchanging.
>Eric_Goldstein: EO M3 OE. +15 206
>Samuel_Kaplan: AEFIITU 11D .AIF +20 196
#note U(N)AI is way better here. Nothing is that great and this may be 2nd, but it's a distant 2nd. #findingmedium
>Eric_Goldstein: AIJN B10 .ANJI +32 238
#note If he's setting up an S, it may be hard to win this one.
>Samuel_Kaplan: EEEITUV 12G EVE +15 211
#note Sometimes we have to grind through bad rack after bad rack. I don't think I'm down enough to warrant playing EVITE in the same spot, but I'm still down enough to the point where I need to be able to access the right side of the board more easily, so that's why I passed up EVITE. It's much easier to parallel 1 tile to bingo than 3. The sim does back up my choice here.
>Eric_Goldstein: AEGMRU 13I MURAGE +31 269
#note My heart almost stopped after he played the E.
>Samuel_Kaplan: BEILPTU I1 PUB +17 228
#note Meh...
>Eric_Goldstein: CORW N10 COW.R +32 301
>Samuel_Kaplan: ?AEIILT 15H LAITIEs +81 309
#note Good. About time I got a decent rack.
>Eric_Goldstein: CLO 1F CLO. +24 325
>Samuel_Kaplan: AEISSUZ 13E SEZ +47 356
#note Great draw, but I didn't go about this position the right way. Quackle really likes just using all the goodies immediately with 15A ASSIZE. I may have seen a way to score nicely over 2 moves in a row with SEZ and another play with the KANJIS hook, but I can see why ASSIZE is better- 18 more immediately is too many to give up in a close game and Eric does still have bingoes through the C in COWERS- I can see GENTrI(C)E or GENETI(C)s being a thing. A play like CLO(P) doesn't tell me much about his range, but even if he doesn't hit a bingo, and regardless if he suspects I have the last S after a play like SEZ, he can still make his blank an S and do something like 15A EsTOP, even though it's hard to play a word with an S in the 2nd position with this pool. So that's why SEZ is a bigger mistake than I would have thought.
>Eric_Goldstein: ?LP 12L Pa.L +28 353
#note So after this came down, I expected to see most of my drawn tiles as vowels.
>Samuel_Kaplan: AINOOSU C13 ONO +26 382
#note I got lucky in the end that he had nothing and this will win easily.
>Eric_Goldstein: EEGINTU 11I GIE +14 367
>Samuel_Kaplan: AISU 15B S.U +21 403
#note 3B SUQ is 3 more here. #endgamesmall
>Eric_Goldstein: ENTU N1 .UNE +16 383
#note I did not see G1 (L)UTE(I)N for him here. He missed it too though.
>Samuel_Kaplan: AI A11 AI +8 411
#note So next time, we should just take the points with ASSIZE instead of trying to spread it out over 2 moves. I'm glad to snap a 3 game losing streak against him and take another important step towards winning the tournament. 5-0 +483.
