#player2 Brandon_Randall Brandon Randall
>Samuel_Kaplan: ADEFLNT 8H DELFT +20 20
#note All I want to do is win the game and I'll get 3rd. Spread does not mean anything in this one. So that means I should just do it more conventionally at 8D and not try this fake X setup stuff if I don't know Brandon's game well enough yet.
>Brandon_Randall: NOORU K3 UNROO. +18 18
#note He originally played UNROOT before realizing he had UNROOF. That would have changed my next play significantly.
>Samuel_Kaplan: ?ADEGLN M2 DANGLEs +77 97
#note I did not know H8 (D)ANeGELD here. If I don't do that, it should be LAGENDs in the same spot as DANGLEs. #knowledgelarge
>Brandon_Randall: AEGT L1 GETA +26 44
#note Nice fit.
>Samuel_Kaplan: CIIOVYZ I5 COZ.Y +33 130
#note Probably just OYEZ here is the play. It doesn't give up the COZEYS hook. #visionsmall
>Brandon_Randall: ABCERST 6B CABREST. +70 114
#note Either way, I gave him a spot to bingo. Both COZEY and OYEZ gave rise to this. Nice find.
>Samuel_Kaplan: GIIOPTV E2 VIGO. +18 148
#note It's fine in terms of equity, but I think I really need to do C2 VIGI(A) here instead with 7 more Is lurking.
>Brandon_Randall: AMO D4 AM.O +26 140
>Samuel_Kaplan: EEILPRT C4 LE.P +25 173
#note PEARLITE got blocked unfortunately. C2 PLE(A)TER did not look like it scored enough extra points over LEAP to be worth it to blow up the rack instead of keeping a nice EIRT leave. And this is more sound overall.
>Brandon_Randall: AEPRSTU B6 .APTURES +69 209
#note I'm lucky that he missed the 7s that play at 10G or 10C for 81 each. Still a nice play here.
>Samuel_Kaplan: EEILRST 12A L.ERIEST +70 243
#note Bad, bad, bad. LEISTER plays at 10F!
>Brandon_Randall: AHW H12 .HAW +30 239
>Samuel_Kaplan: ?DIISTW F9 WID. +10 253
#note The wheels fell apart starting with this play. It's totally fine to do 10F WITS for 35 here. But since neither one of us saw the COZEYS hook all game, it became moot.
>Brandon_Randall: AX I13 AX +25 264
>Samuel_Kaplan: ?EIOSTU A8 OI +20 273
#note I would be a little hesitant to do 10I STOUrIE at first, but either way, L8 (T)ImEOUTS and (T)ITmOUSE are both gettable. While OI does not sim that far back of TIMEOUTS and TITMOUSE, there's simply no excuse for missing the bingoes. This is D1, it's not going to cut it.
>Brandon_Randall: AEHY 2B HEA.Y +44 308
>Samuel_Kaplan: ?EINSTU 1A NU +11 284
#note COZEYS hook again!
>Brandon_Randall: BDJKNNO - +0 308
#note Not actual rack. Brandon exchanged 5 tiles here.
>Samuel_Kaplan: ?EIOSTV A12 .IVE +23 307
#note I am disgusted at how poorly I played this game. Same reason as previous positions.
>Brandon_Randall: ABIKNR 1F BARKIN. +49 357
#note Misscored as 51.
>Samuel_Kaplan: ?JOOQST J10 JOTS +33 340
>Brandon_Randall: EEIINRU D11 U.INE +6 363
#note Assuming this was his rack, this was a nice play to block me from playing E10 Qa(I)D.
>Samuel_Kaplan: ?DFIMOQ K10 OF +29 369
#note I missed K11 MOtIF, which would have prevented Brandon from going out because he has 15K (F)INER at best and then I can dump my Q after that.
>Brandon_Randall: EINR 10J ..INER +15 378
#note I gave him a better out play, but it didn't matter with respect to spread. COZEY TAKES AN S! Yea, this was not acceptable in terms of how I played this one. The losses to Cesar and Eric (and in Round 4 to Brandon to an extent) were actually respectable efforts and I didn't get the results, that's fine. Round 8 was godawful pretty much starting with LEERIEST and did not meet expectations at all. There's nothing else to say other than Brandon was much better than me in Round 8. 4-4 +168. Final score was recorded as 412-369. Never a good feeling to end an otherwise decent tournament on a sour note, but there shall be better days ahead.
