#player2 Eric_Goldstein Eric Goldstein
>Samuel_Kaplan: ?AEILNS 8G vALINES +64 64
#note I see this as a potential sign of good things to come after surviving a blankless game against Joel last round.
>Eric_Goldstein: QUZ J6 QU.Z +42 42
>Samuel_Kaplan: ADEGNOP M8 .PONGED +28 92
#note I think that if I'm going to go with a board that is open enough to potentially benefit me but still leave the left side of the board blocked off, I think M2 DOGNAP(S) is a better version of this play as it doesn't expose as many floaters with QUIZ being in the way. Doing 9H GA(Z)ED, which I didn't even see, is defensive in the short term, but it would eventually defeat the purpose of doing VALINES in the first place. #findingsmall
>Eric_Goldstein: BDELORU L1 REDOUBL. +74 116
#note So after GAZED, BOULDER and DOUBLER still play on Row 10 and of course he has BOULDERS and DOUBLERS into the S. Turned out to be all for naught.
>Samuel_Kaplan: ?ABCEGT 1K G.ACE +24 116
#note I did not know H3 CABoT(A)GE here. If I don't know that one, this play should be BRACT because neither the G or B are that good on this board.
>Eric_Goldstein: AGO L10 GOA +19 135
>Samuel_Kaplan: ?ABDTTW K11 TWA +25 141
#note Tack the T on this for 2 more.
>Eric_Goldstein: FO M3 OF +21 156
>Samuel_Kaplan: ?BDHRTT 13J B.T.D +13 154
#note Anyone who spots the only bingo that plays in this position deserves props.
>Eric_Goldstein: EET N10 TEE. +25 181
#note 13E BiRTHD(A)T(E) was the disconnected 9!
>Samuel_Kaplan: ?EHIRTU H1 THIoURE. +80 234
#note Finally got one down. And I just played this bingo a couple tournaments ago!
>Eric_Goldstein: IP 2J PI. +14 195
>Samuel_Kaplan: ADEIKMO K4 OM +22 256
#note I guess G2 OK is also fine?
>Eric_Goldstein: EEINRST O1 .TERNISE +77 272
#note He would get his bingo down in due time after some fishing. Yayyyyy lol
>Samuel_Kaplan: ADEIKMR N6 KI +34 290
#note Good thing I addressed this, because look what would have happened next.
>Eric_Goldstein: OX G2 OX +39 311
#note So Eric decided it was ok to play N5 OX and try changing the game from Scrabble to Upwords in the middle of the game! I thought it was hilarious what he did while exposing the X before settling on this.
>Samuel_Kaplan: ADELMRY 14F MARLY +39 329
#note I did consider just doing 14I MY, but 9 seemed like too many to sacrifice when I could conceivably get back in this game without needing to bingo. But I will admit that a stronger play given this pool would be 14I RYE just because there's only 3 Es left and Eric will often enough have a harder time scoring if he doesn't have an E left. Maybe he might be forced to score less while opening. #strategysmall
>Eric_Goldstein: AFT H12 FA.T +33 344
#note So I guess F1 OF could have been another option for him if it wasn't for MARLY instead of MY or RYE.
>Samuel_Kaplan: DEEIJLN 1E JIL. +21 350
#note The J is an awful tile on this board. I saw N1 (C)EL but didn't like my odds of drawing into JINNEE on Row 15, so I feld that ditching it now was the play. The sim likes it, especially given that I can maybe draw a playable Row 6 bingo if Eric doesn't have the right stuff to score with the J himself.
>Eric_Goldstein: EIUV E1 .UVIE +30 374
#note Nice response.
>Samuel_Kaplan: DEENNOW D4 OWNED +31 381
#note It's going to come down to can I get the right stuff because it's been a great, close battle all game. I win by far the most often after OWNED compared to any other move.
>Eric_Goldstein: AAH C5 AAH +27 401
#note This was misscored as 28. And this was a great defensive upgrade over C6 AHA.
>Samuel_Kaplan: CENRRSY 6A CY..S +34 415
#note Just 1 fewer consonant and avoiding the Y in some cases would have given me a slightly better chance of pulling this one out. Unfortunately, I cannot win.
>Eric_Goldstein: AIINOSV A6 .OVINS +33 434
>Samuel_Kaplan: ENRR 13E RE +6 421
#note I was low on time at this point. 15J ERR should have been it. #endgamemedium
>Eric_Goldstein: AI B10 AI +10 444
#note I feel like I played this one decently. I think RYE would have been a bit more sound (again, there was still an O unseen so F1 OF could have also come down) and DOGNAPS would have been slightly better than SPONGED. BIRTHDATE would have been the find of the year if I had spotted that. This was a great game and it's always great playing Eric. Just needed to get that 50+ point play and it didn't materialize, so no win. Oh well. 4-3 +211. Now I won't have a chance to jump into 2nd because Eric and Cesar both have 6 wins and I only got 4. Final score was recorded as 449-421 and I drew Brandon Randall for Rd 8.
>Eric_Goldstein: (NR) +4 448
