>Brandon_Randall: IWZ 8G WIZ +30 30
>Samuel_Kaplan: ADEEERT 9G ETA +25 25
#note I did see REDATE for 30. However, I think DEER is a great leave for this board and ETA doesn't give him as many options. It does appear to sim ahead of G8 (W)E as that is too big of a point sacrifice.
>Brandon_Randall: AGJNSTU - +0 30
#note Not actual rack. Brandon exchanged 6 tiles here.
>Samuel_Kaplan: DEEIILR 7E LIED +17 42
#note Even after an exchange 6, I think 10E LIE would have been a little better because even though I set up EWER and the EDIT hooks, L10E LIE sets up both my D and my R and Brandon averages about 3 less next turn. #strategysmall
>Brandon_Randall: EIKNO 8A ENOKI +44 74
#note A small mistake turned out to be a bigger one in this case.
>Samuel_Kaplan: EFFIORY 7A FOY +29 71
#note Because I have the R hook for EWER, I decided to leave that open for myself. Both the 7A and 9A placements are about equal. I am not sure if I would have been able to bait a phony OFFKEYS* hook if I had seen D5 OFF(K)EY, but this is still stronger either way.
>Brandon_Randall: HNOSUUU - +0 74
#note Not actual rack. Brandon exchanged 2 this time.
>Samuel_Kaplan: EFILNRR 10B RIFLER +20 91
#note Figured this was defensive enough after Brandon is close enough to a bingo. I didn't feel that 10D FLIR was that great because for me to hit a Row 6 bingo, I have to start with an E or A which isn't always easy to do. I think that's why a play that turns over tiles and parallels ENOKI is simming at the top.
>Brandon_Randall: ?AADERT 6H AERATeD +68 142
#note I really like 8G (WIZ)ARDEsT for Brandon here- it scores 1 more despite the drawbacks of floating some great tiles.
>Samuel_Kaplan: ACGMNNO K2 CONG. +16 107
#note Oof, I really would do B2 NONAG(ON) if I had to do this over again to keep more than 1 section of the board open. And CONGAMAN* looked too ridiculous to pass muster. #visionmedium
>Brandon_Randall: ADEIW L3 WAI.ED +36 178
#note Nice play.
>Samuel_Kaplan: AMNSUVY 8L .AVY +33 140
#note 2K (C)AVY using the same tiles scores 2 more. #findingsmall
>Brandon_Randall: UX 10I XU +30 208
>Samuel_Kaplan: BMNSSSU D10 .UBS +18 158
#note I did not see 3G SUNB(OW)S here. That is easily the play. #findingmedium
>Brandon_Randall: ELOU 13B OU.EL +10 218
>Samuel_Kaplan: EMNNPSS M2 PENN. +31 189
#note There we go. #visionsolid
>Brandon_Randall: ANO 2K .A.ON +29 247
>Samuel_Kaplan: AMRSSUV 1N MU +22 211
#note Not much to score in this positon, so looks OK.
>Brandon_Randall: HOTT 11J TOTH +16 263
>Brandon_Randall: HOTT -- -16 247
#note I remember Cesar, a previous opponent, allowing TOTHS* against Wayne Barclay, which was featured in a previous Mack Meller phonies video, so I knew to challenge this one off.
>Samuel_Kaplan: AGRRSSV 3I AV...RS +22 233
#note I had the right idea and debated leaving the A off. Ultimately, Brandon would not have tried blocking if he had the blank, so I decided to play off another tile to go for it myself.
>Brandon_Randall: DHOOT F2 DHOOT. +16 263
>Samuel_Kaplan: ?EGIRST N8 .IRGaTES +76 309
#note Perhaps I should have thought to do 4A GEnITORS here, which is the top simming play, instead of either my play or VERGIToS in the same spot because it doesn't open up anything new for Brandon, even though I am sacrificing 4 points. It's still a relatively nice pool and I would not be out of the woods. I should probably force Brandon's potential counterbingo with this reasonably nice pool to score less and give me back more. #strategymedium
>Brandon_Randall: ABIN O12 BANI +43 306
#note Granted there's no guessing what Brandon could have had after he played DHOOTI last turn, but it would have been interesting to see what he would have responded with if I played in the top left corner of the board instead.
>Samuel_Kaplan: EGHJLOQ 5E J.G +22 331
#note I did not see the HOUSEL hook with A13 HOG here. But I also could not stomach leaving the J and Q while he's more likely to bingo than I am for the rest of the game.
>Brandon_Randall: MR B12 R.M +10 316
>Samuel_Kaplan: AEHILOQ 4H QI +23 354
#note I am pretty much in a pickle here. The only ways I saw that I could get rid of the Q were this and QAID/QADI as well as E1 QI. If I attempt to block 15B PETITES the wrong way (in fact, very shockingly A13 HOE/HAO/HAE all accomplish that and they all guarantee the win), Brandon can Q-stick me if the I or S are in the bag (he won't play on Row 2 with the C in the bag with PETITES being available) because he just has to play 2F (D)EET or (D)EEP. I will say that playing in the bottom left, even if I had seen the HOUSEL hook, would have been a hard play to make fearing that I won't have enough tiles to be able to outscore Brandon as he gets an easy 20 from me.
>Brandon_Randall: EEIPSTT 15B PETITES +88 404
#note Yep, sometimes the tile bag does not cooperate. The one and only tile I did not need to see was the one I got, the C. PETITES was the only 7 that could have played with CEEIPSTT. That's a brutal loss, I fought so hard to claw back and then I end up losing on the final play. VIRGATES was interesting and the Q made the pre-endgame particularly challenging. Nice game Brandon! 2-2 +113.
