>Mark_Miller: ?AEFIIU - +0 0
#note Not actual rack. Mark exchanged 7 tiles.
>Samuel_Kaplan: AEJLLLY 8D JELLY +46 46
#note Easily the play. Can I keep the scoring pressure on Mark?
>Mark_Miller: ?DEIMOO 7H MOODIEr +68 68
#note I guess I can't even do that right. Lol. I think that's the 2nd time in as many matchups that Mark exchanged 7 on his opening play then drew a bingo. Nothing I can do there.
>Samuel_Kaplan: AAEHLNT 6J HAT +32 78
#note And while ETHANAL doesn't play anymore, he did give me L1 ANTHELIA which I missed. #findinglarge

>Samuel_Kaplan: AELNNNT M3 LATE.N +19 97
#note Right idea, blowing up the rack is worth it here because there's no great options that fish off 2 Ns. 4C LE(V)ANT is 1 more, so small mistake.
>Mark_Miller: BIO 5H BIO +11 103
>Samuel_Kaplan: EENNNUY D8 .ENNY +32 129
#note While I picked another N, at least I had a good way of getting some off my rack. Looks good.
>Mark_Miller: ABF L2 FAB +26 129
>Samuel_Kaplan: EEINPRU 11B PU.NIER +18 147
#note Didn't love C9 PIU without an A in hand. Probably could do 4B PRE(V)UE but this at least takes away Mark's best bingo lane.

#note I really liked hanging onto the X here for scoring insurance next turn. Also, I could have played this 1 spot down for 2 more. #visionsmall
>Mark_Miller: HNORSSW 15G R.SHOWN +17 182
#note I put another S in this rack because I thought he kept another one after this play. F6 HO(L)S seems perfectly reasonable to me if this was the case.
>Samuel_Kaplan: ANRTUUX 10H .AX +29 204
#note B10 U(P)TURN is a sick play that I did not spot! That sets up my X beautifully and Mark is unlikely to block that spot with this pool. #visionmedium
>Mark_Miller: AEMRSST 12G M.SRATES +74 256
#note Either way I wasn't stopping Mark from bingoing because even if I play through the P, for which he had B7 STAM(P)ERS for 86, he still gets this down.
>Samuel_Kaplan: ?INRTUU B11 .UNT +12 216
#note UPTURN again. Not the easiest word to spot by any means.
>Mark_Miller: ACDO 15A CODA +31 287

#note I thought about holding onto the G for 5H BIOG next turn. It seemed like too slow of a plan just because I'm only scoring 24 with BIOG and I can get 1 more chance to pick the Q, which would be helpful with the IRU? leave but not helpful after keeping the G with it. I could even draw into H1 SQUI(B) which would be nice after Mark would have to give up so many points to block the S, for which I might be able to outrun in that direction without bingoing.
>Mark_Miller: IQ N10 QI. +32 319
#note Ugh
>Samuel_Kaplan: ?EILRRU 4C LU. +12 281
#note I pretty much have to do this if I want to be able to eventually make a move on top that might be hard for Mark to close down without giving up another bingo line.

#note This was such a fun position and Mark and I talked about it quite a bit after the game. He initially liked 3B RE, which sets up my O nicely. He can't make Column A plays as that allows me to hit 2C bingoes. 2A GEE wouldn't work for him after RE as that allows me bingoes starting with REEL or SEEL. However, 2A KEG or GED would work just fine. Then, we thought of another idea of doing 6B COR(E) in the hopes of drawing a bingo with the SCORE hook. This would be trickier to address, but the problem is it empties the bag and Mark will be able to effectively address that opening. I could see something like I(C)K or GE(C)KO blocking stuff I could draw, even if I do pick the S. Championship Player says that C2 CO(L) gives me the best shot because this, like the play I made, leaves 1 tile in the bag and also makes it a little harder for Mark to block bingoes I could have. 2C (C)OG would work if the A is already on his rack as I would have to make my blank an A, and he could also do 2C (C)OUDE which would require me to make my blank an N, or 2C (C)OKED which requires me to slot the O in the 1st or 2nd position with other overlaps. This play of course sets up my C and Mark has to empty the bag if he wants to block as best as possible. It seemed like I was smoked somehow as Mark just makes a longer play from the C in COL and makes it difficult, if not impossible, to bingo out.
>Mark_Miller: EEGIKOU 2I KIE. +13 357
#note As counterintuitive as this sounds, C3 G(L)EEK is 1 of the 2 plays that guarantees Mark the win even though it does not block all of my possible out bingoes because it scores enough to outrun 2D ROSaCEA if the D is in the bag. And if he doesn't see that, the only effective direct block that guarantees him a win is 3F OU(R)IE.
>Samuel_Kaplan: ?ACEORS 1F ACROS +29 316
#note As it turns out, if I had picked AD from the bag as opposed to AS, I would have bingoed out with mERCADO to win! It's pretty rare that picking the S is not the best draw given the circumstances. I did take several minutes and correctly decided there were no bingoes that played. Man, that bites! And F2 COStREL is insane, but there's no way I was seeing that after I was already about 20 seconds overtime.
>Mark_Miller: DEGOU 14H .OUGE +26 383
#note Looks good here.

#note L6 (TI)Es is 5 more. Again, I was already approaching 1 minute of overtime. Definitely several minor inaccuracies along with missing ANTHELIA was the difference in this one. Those small mistakes do add up and things haven't always gone well in this tournament in general. So aside from missing ANTHELIA, these small mistakes felt bigger than they already were, especially since I have already lost 2 games prior to this one with 1 of them being winnable. Great game Mark! I'd be curious to know what others think of the CEIORR? position with all the complex possibilities present. Final score was 383-325 because I went less than 1 minute overtime. 2-3 -75. Let's see if I can at least turn it around enough to finish with a winning record even if this full comeback attempt did not succeed.
