>Jerome_Loch: DIMRU 8D MURID +22 22
>Samuel_Kaplan: AAENPQT 7G QAT +47 47
#note This is one of those situations where it would have been fine to go 1st or 2nd because I do QANAT for 48 if I was 1st. This is better over QANAT since I don't give back the Z bomb.
>Jerome_Loch: HIIL 6H HILI +18 40
>Samuel_Kaplan: AENNOPZ 5I ZAP +50 97
#note Mhm
>Jerome_Loch: EIOR E7 O.RIE +10 50
>Samuel_Kaplan: EFGNNOS D10 GONEF +23 120
#note 10B GON(I)F is fine without an S in hand, but I liked being aggressive here with one since HILIS* isn't good.
>Jerome_Loch: EEHIR C11 HIREE +33 83
#note Nice play.
>Samuel_Kaplan: ?AMNNSW 15A WA.S +35 155
#note I was absolutely not doing L2 AWNS or WANS with a lead here. I also wasn't crazy about doing L2 MAWS just because this keeps things tighter while I'm ahead and will force Jerome to have to open the board for not a large score while he's behind.
>Jerome_Loch: AG 10D ..GA +10 93
>Samuel_Kaplan: ?MNNSTT -MNT +0 155
#note Because of RE on Row 13 and now that I have a vowel to hook with, I thought keeping NST? was fine over just ST? or NS?. Draw 1 vowel and I'm in business because I also have the SHOE hook available.
>Jerome_Loch: ?EGIOTU 11G GOUTIEr +67 160
#note Looks good.
>Samuel_Kaplan: ?ANOSTT B5 ATTOrNS +67 222
#note Maybe aNNATOS is a little better just because of the 8A spot, but realistically I was gonna get hit in this spot somehow.
>Jerome_Loch: ADILP A4 PLAID +48 208
#note Nice play. This was misscored as 45.
>Samuel_Kaplan: ACFLNRV L7 CRAV.N +24 246
#note I figured this would be safer while the board is tighter and I have a lead over doing L8 CAV(E)RN or L8 VAR(E)C.
>Jerome_Loch: ADKLY 8J DA.KLY +42 250
#note This was misscored as 39 as well.
>Samuel_Kaplan: DEFLRST H11 .FTER +36 282
#note I almost did H10 S(O)FTER for 10 more but I figured I have an important S hook for L1-L5 plays with ZAPS which Jerome amazingly can't block without making a play there of his own.
>Jerome_Loch: OX 10L .OX +30 280
>Samuel_Kaplan: CDEEILS 14B D..I +22 304
#note Close with cashing in immediately with L1 CEDIS or CEILS.
>Jerome_Loch: OWY C3 YOW +24 304
>Samuel_Kaplan: ABCEELS D1 BLAE +27 331
#note Now I pretty much can't score much without opening up Row 1. But this pool is not looking very pretty.
>Jerome_Loch: EIMNN 1D .INMEN +30 334
>Samuel_Kaplan: CEJNSSV 2H SEV +18 349
#note This pool is so bad and the V is so bad on this board that doing this actually wins no matter what I draw out of the bag instead of doing L2 JESS because once again, Jerome cannot block Column L plays with ZAPS no matter what he does. And this guarantees that I have ZAPS plays as he as no effective reparallels on Row 3. I won't be J-stuck as if I draw a U, I'll have L3 JUS as well as 13G J(U)T. By drawing an E, I'll have 14G J(E)E as well as 3C (YA)JE. With an O draw, I have 13F JO(T) as well as O13 JO(Y). Even if I don't draw any vowels, I will still be ok as I have H6 (HAD)J and 14G J(E)T. This was misscored as 20.
>Jerome_Loch: EEEOOTU 9N OE +17 351
>Samuel_Kaplan: BCJNRSU L3 JUS +35 384
#note Obviously I had to be a little careful if I don't play JUS because (HAD)J is the only other way I have of disposing of the J in this case. That would have acutally been a slightly better endgame saving L1 CURBS, which cannot be blocked. I can safely say this is the 2nd best endgame for spread purposes.
>Jerome_Loch: EEOTU 13A TO.. +8 359
>Samuel_Kaplan: BCNR 14G R.C +5 389
#note Thankfully I wasn't going to be C-stuck either.
>Jerome_Loch: EEU 3L .EE +20 379
>Samuel_Kaplan: BN N2 N.B +10 399
#note Whew. It's nice to solve a pre-endgame the right way and pull out a close one. While my final rack was not great, thankfully his was easily worse. Final score was recorded as 403-373. 2-2 +186.
>Samuel_Kaplan: (U) +2 401
