>Dan_Wachtell: AWX H7 WAX +26 26
>Samuel_Kaplan: BDLOPTV G8 BOLD +22 22
#note I didn't see very many good ways to dump the V on this board. I also didn't know how defensive of a player Dan is until I looked at his scoresheet after the game. If I had seen 8H (A)BVOLT and if I knew his playing style, I would have actually considered playing that.
>Dan_Wachtell: ?EGIOTU I8 GOUTIEr +76 102
#note Doing ABVOLT would have given him bingoes regardless lol. This looks best for him.
>Samuel_Kaplan: APRTTVY H12 PRAY +46 68
#note I am helping create a board that he loves playing on, but this is clearly best.
>Dan_Wachtell: CIIIOSW - +0 102
#note Not actual rack. Dan exchanged 5 tiles here.
>Samuel_Kaplan: IKOSTTV 12H ..VOT +20 88
#note I definitely did not see J12 TSK. That looks a little better because it's 21 more points, but this at least opens nicely and makes a good S-dependent board.
>Dan_Wachtell: EOT J12 .ETO +16 118
>Samuel_Kaplan: CEIKSTZ J4 TIZES +41 129
#note I wanted to play C(REE)KIEST* at first but realized it was only CREAKIEST. This seems ok.
>Dan_Wachtell: ANT K5 TAN +23 141
>Samuel_Kaplan: ACCDGKT 11K TACK +26 155
#note Yucky draw. It's enough points over 15D CADG(Y) to make this worth it.
>Dan_Wachtell: AEGNR 15J .RANGE +24 165
>Samuel_Kaplan: CDEGJSU O6 JUDGES +56 211
#note Best play.
>Dan_Wachtell: AIQ 8L QAI. +24 189
>Samuel_Kaplan: CNRRSUV M7 V.C +15 226
#note 15D CURV(Y) setting up my S is such a great play. He might not even think I have an S after that play too! Looks like a missed opportunity. #visionlarge
>Dan_Wachtell: DELMO 11B MOLDE. +20 209
>Samuel_Kaplan: FNRRSUY D10 F.URRY +32 258
#note I guess MOLDED would have neutralized my threat nicely. He did a nice job opening the board. This play is easily best.
>Dan_Wachtell: LMO 15A MOL. +27 236
>Samuel_Kaplan: AEHINNS 14B HE.N +26 284
>Dan_Wachtell: ?DEIOPR E4 PROvIDE. +77 313
#note Ugh. I fought so hard this entire game. Nice find. The first half of this tournament has basically been feast or famine because I have not had a stretch in a long time where I will score under 400 points in 3 of 5 games.
>Samuel_Kaplan: ABEEINS 13C B.AE +24 308
#note Can I draw a bingo please?
>Dan_Wachtell: HU 10A UH +28 341
>Samuel_Kaplan: AAEEINS A8 EA. +9 317
#note I chose this over I3 AE and 4D A(P)E because after APE, it is possible for Dan to block Column C bingoes with the NAPE or RAPE hook or with Row 3 plays. After I3 AE, that takes so many hooks with this pool that Dan will basically empty the bag and end the game on the spot. With this pool, there aren't as many tiles that could go next to the E, and even if they do, I can still counter with bingoes a lot of the time keeping AEINS. Dan thought this was best over AE and APE, but I'd be curious to know how others feel about this play.
>Dan_Wachtell: EIIIIRW 5C WI.IER +9 350
#note Even with the drek that he picked, he comes up with the most effective block without giving me a bingo lane and I am officially screwed. Nice play.
>Samuel_Kaplan: AEINNNS H1 SANE. +18 335
#note NANNIES does not play and he did not do WIPER as that gives me SWIPER. 6G SEI(ZA) is insane board vision right here. #visionlarge
>Dan_Wachtell: FIILOS L1 FOILS +27 377
>Samuel_Kaplan: INN 2K N.NI +8 343
#note G2 NIN(E) for 4 more points. Great game Dan, it's great to be part of a game that features some moves that are not always obvious to make. I will say that it's frustrating to feel like I'm playing well and not getting results I look for. But it's part of Scrabble. Just gotta draw a little better in the 2nd half. 3-2 +202.
