>Joe_Petree: AJRTU 8D JURAT +40 40
>Samuel_Kaplan: ABDDSSV I5 DABS +23 23
#note Got some clunk already. I want a more open board against Joe, but keeping 2 Ss isn't helping anything. I5 BADS jumps to the top of the sim probably because a B is harder to bingo through than a D, but he still gets great counterplay on Column J. I5 BADS leaving me only a U to really use wasn't going to help me despite that being more sound. Maybe BADS could be OK despite scoring one less even though I didn't have many great options here.
>Joe_Petree: ANOZ J2 ZONA +36 76
>Samuel_Kaplan: ?DRSSVW 3I W.RDS +26 49
#note Yuch. More clunk. Well, thankfully I got another vowel to make this rack worth playing through. Equitywise, it's very close with G7 V(A)WS. I liked this better because it scores 8 more and sets up my other S nicely. The sim likes it.
>Joe_Petree: ACUY K5 YUCA +32 108
>Samuel_Kaplan: ?ABILSV F2 BoLIVA.S +76 125
#note There is another one I missed- E7 S(U)BVIrAL, however, this is more sound and scores 2 more. Definitely happy to find this one. I didn't mind opening up other hotspots with the L8 spot already open. Also, you can only play the 1st president of Colombia's last name, not his first name (SIMON*).
>Joe_Petree: EO D8 .OE +10 118
#note Any reason why I can't play my own name? (boo hoo lol).
>Samuel_Kaplan: AIOORRT 8K .ORTA +18 143
#note Wasn't a fan of 4B OORALI with a W unseen (because that can score a lot if he has a play there) and also wasn't a fan of L8 RATIO with 5 more Ns unseen. L1 ORDO seems like the call here if I was looking to undouble Os and Rs while keeping a better leave. Small mistake here.
>Joe_Petree: EGIV L8 .GIVE +18 136
>Samuel_Kaplan: ?HIORTU O1 THIOURe. +83 226
#note Clearly the best bingo. C9 THORIUM might be a higher molecular weight than THIOUREA, but it won't add points to my score. So that's why I chose this one.
>Joe_Petree: AEORSTU 11G OUTRA.ES +72 208
#note Looks good for him.
>Samuel_Kaplan: EHINNOT C9 THINE +26 252
#note If HU* (or Hofstra University, my alma mater) was good, 10G THION(I)NE still plays!! However, G3 HON is fine even with all those Es left. #strategymedium
>Joe_Petree: AEIR H11 .RAEI +18 226
>Samuel_Kaplan: EGINOOO 4D IG.OO +14 266
#note I saw but was unsure of E10 NOOGIE. I wasn't a fan of it with the shortage of vowels in this pool (and Joe probably had more after his last play). With this play, I can at least keep fine and hopefully draw some high point consonants to block the bottom lanes in URAEI.
>Joe_Petree: EILM E10 MILE +20 246
>Samuel_Kaplan: AEENOTX G2 EX.N +41 307
#note It's good that I saw this, but B10 AXONE is clearly better. That's a miss. #findinglarge
>Joe_Petree: EIP L1 PE.I +20 266
#note Yay new words!
>Samuel_Kaplan: ADEFGOT G13 FOG +25 332
#note Bye bye board. Try bingoing with this pool.
>Joe_Petree: EKW N11 .KEW +22 288
>Samuel_Kaplan: ADDEINT M10 D.ED +28 360
#note I'm fine with this over O12 IDEA with this pool.
>Joe_Petree: LM K10 L.M +19 307
>Samuel_Kaplan: AEFINQT B11 QAT +27 387
#note Blocking things like B11 PENNY and threatening to play out with 5A NEIF, which after he does block, I still have O13 FEN.
>Joe_Petree: CELNNPY O13 YEP +36 343
#note This is actually better for him. I didn't see a way for him to stop me from going out, so he is better off cutting spread. If I do FEN after he blocks NEIF with 3B YEP, all he can really do is dump his C with either CAN or PIC.
>Samuel_Kaplan: EFIN 5A NEIF +12 399
#note About time that I win my 1st game. I did overcome a loss in Round 1 in my last 2 tournaments and cash in those, but these divisions are not forgiving. So it was nice to break that trend. 1-0 +68.
