#note This game basically decides which one of us finishes 2nd and which one of us finishes 4th. Here's the standings after 15 rounds to back up what's on the line (thankfully I took a picture of what they were):

1st Jeremy Hall 13-2 +801 (Gibsonized)
2nd me 10-5 +174
3rd Eric 9-6 +566
4th Andy Hoang 9-6 +336
5th Joel Horn 9-6 +279

This situation screams I don't need spread. I just need to win because I'll be the only one with 11 wins if that happens. But making plays like this will help my chances of pulling out this game that has a winner-take-all feel to it.
>Eric_Goldstein: ACMOQTV 9G QAT +28 28
#note I'm immediately thinking "ick". Yea, Eric needs to make this play. This was misscored as 27.
>Samuel_Kaplan: DELORUW 9K WUD +23 63
#note K5 LOW(E)RED would have been better regardless if I needed spread or not. That was missed. However, Eric doesn't have much to work with if he doesn't have an I. Almost like saying "bye bye board".
>Eric_Goldstein: CMNOOTV 7I MOT +24 52
#note Eric and I discussed this position for quite a bit and we both thought it was the right play. It was a major factor in how this game turned out because even though it would not have been the right move for him to sacrifice 4 points, doing TOM does not create an S hook he doesn't have. My last play throws my range all over the place because he probably interpreted either bad rack or I'm just trying to make a bad board knowing that I only need to win the game and not try to rack up spread.
>Samuel_Kaplan: ELORSTT 6C LOTTERS +65 128
#note I got very lucky and he got very unlucky that I just picked an S after playing WUD.
>Eric_Goldstein: ACOV C2 VOCA. +20 72
#note Nice play by him. He desperately needs the top left open and there's a good chance of him picking an I.
>Samuel_Kaplan: AABDLNS 4C .ABAL +18 146
#note I did not know 4B S(C)ABLAND. Maybe B5 AB if I had to do this one over again as that's 10 more and now there's only so much I can do to block after VOCAL. #findingmedium
>Eric_Goldstein: EIJNOOW 7D WOE +15 87
#note He told me that he was setting up 8A JOIN for next turn. Looks like an unconventionally nice move.
>Samuel_Kaplan: DFINORS 10F FID +30 176
#note 8A FROND. You wanna win this game or not?
>Eric_Goldstein: IJNO 8A JOIN +43 130
#note Where's he scoring with his J if I see my play?
>Samuel_Kaplan: ADENORS 8A ....ED +21 197
#note I did not see the CABALA hook which would have been a nice fish. But H1 DONA would have been so many more that fishing would not be really worth it.
>Eric_Goldstein: INN A8 .INN +11 141
>Samuel_Kaplan: ANORSSV 11C NOVAS +33 230
#note I saw but chickened out of SOVRANS. Arghhh (that's a phony spelling of argh). Still cripples the bottom left of the board nicely in the short term.
>Eric_Goldstein: AAILRST 3F LARIATS +64 205
#note Nice play.
>Samuel_Kaplan: EGGNORS J2 G.NG +10 240
#note I cannot let that Z bomb stay open. Not while Z plays could be fatal with no more good S hooks on this board. Let's just play it safe and protect my lead in a situation where spread means nothing.
>Eric_Goldstein: EHY 4L HEY +28 233
>Samuel_Kaplan: BEMOPRS 12B BOP +24 264
#note B6 BOO was missed, but I like this better as Eric might play through the Y in HEY.
>Eric_Goldstein: EI 5J .IE +14 247
>Samuel_Kaplan: EEMRSYZ 13C MEZE +45 309
#note 13A ZYME is a little tricky to spot. Yea, that's better.
>Eric_Goldstein: CEEU 2A CU.EE +20 267
>Samuel_Kaplan: DKPRRSY 6L DRY +23 332
#note With Row 14 being open underneath MEZE, I thought I would be in a particularly commanding spot as Eric must make the blank an S to use Column O effectively. Now I at least have a 2nd lane to bingo with in case Eric takes Row 14 offering me Row 15 (and I can't use that effectively).
>Eric_Goldstein: AIIN A1 A.INI +24 291
>Samuel_Kaplan: ?HKPRSU O6 SUK +29 361
#note I did see SUKH here, but that's not happening when there's another blank unseen to me and Eric could bingo out and win. This way, I go up 70 and the only way he can really score anything with a bingo is by starting with the F at 14F. FOlIAGE, FORGAvE, etc are things that come to mind that score the most for him.
>Eric_Goldstein: AGIR 1E RAGI +17 308
>Samuel_Kaplan: ??EHPRT 14F HiPsTER +83 444
#note I would have just played it safe and did THumPER if I didn't come across the only 7 that allows me to slot the H at 14F.

Another great game for the most part with a couple mistakes in there. This was a high pressure game and I'm very happy to have come through when it mattered the most to earn the silver medal. That MOT position was an unfortunate bounce for him. Great game Eric and congrats on 4th!

Final score was recorded as 458-307. Next up for me will be King of Prussia on May 25th!
