>Samuel_Kaplan: BCGIKSY 8H ICKY +26 26
#note I had the right idea, but I did space out on the SICKY hook for this, which I had. However, since it also takes 4 other hooks (D, K, M, and P), I still would have played ICKY at 8H instead of at 8F or 8E.
>Jeff_Jacobson: DEIJ G6 JEDI +29 29
#note Yay for the new words! And I would get in on the fun next turn.
>Samuel_Kaplan: BGORSSU 10B BOURGS +32 58
#note And I picked the right time for that, because this is clearly best.
>Jeff_Jacobson: FFI 6G .IFF +25 54
>Samuel_Kaplan: ?DEGSTX J8 .EX +30 88
#note I did see E5 DEXTe(R)S, but the leave is not great. The X isn't worth keeping for long on this board, which is where the duck agrees with me. DGST? is not 6 points better than EGS? which would have happened after doing H5 D(I)X(I)T for 24. #findingmeh
>Jeff_Jacobson: OY K5 OY +31 85
#note This scores enough to the point where it's hard to suspect he has a good leave. But he probably kept a good hook to this.
>Samuel_Kaplan: ?DGLSTZ D9 L.TZ +26 114
#note It would have been worth it to consider K4 ZeST(Y) if Jeff didn't do OY last turn. I saw but eschewed 4K GLiTZ because I am keeping hooks to OY and slotting the Z in the 4th position of a 3x3 gives a lot back to him for no good reason. It's also worth noting that the K is on the board, so I wasn't concerned about plays making KLUTZ.
>Jeff_Jacobson: AEP E10 .EAP +27 112
>Samuel_Kaplan: ?DEGIOS 4H DOgGIES +77 191
#note Looks good, but DInGOES is better because of the DOGGIEST hook. It sure helps to have some previously expurgated 3s back, doesn't it?
>Jeff_Jacobson: ORS H1 SOR. +15 127
>Samuel_Kaplan: AAITTVW 3M WAT +24 215
#note O1 VITTA was missed. Very sloppy.
>Jeff_Jacobson: DOT 2L TOD +22 149
>Samuel_Kaplan: AAIILTV 1J VAIL +18 233
#note Definitely not doing I10 AVAIL with a lead. Last turn Quackle was correct that I screwed up, but this time I think it's highly impractical to just make the "best play". This or 1J VIAL are basically the same.
>Jeff_Jacobson: AG F10 .AG +21 170
>Samuel_Kaplan: ADIQTUW 2F QU.D +34 267
#note I can finally block the more dangerous lane to leave open because his play of SORD for only 15 points raised some alarm bells. I know he's got the last S.
>Jeff_Jacobson: ACENNST 14C NASCENT +72 242
#note I guessed right and this is the only spot his bingo plays in.
>Samuel_Kaplan: AAEHITW 15A THAW +53 320
#note WAAH in the same spot. Right idea, wrong execution. #findingmedium
>Jeff_Jacobson: EMO H12 ME.O +27 269
>Samuel_Kaplan: AAEIINN K10 INANE +19 339
#note This time, I think INANE might be better despite the Rs unseen because there's also 5 Es unseen and it's a consonant heavy pool. They both win about the same amount, so I think this play is fine.
>Jeff_Jacobson: ENORV 15K ROVEN +33 302
#note He got me good. But I hope he drew more Rs and has to deal with that problem.
>Samuel_Kaplan: AAEILOU 13J U.AI +8 347
#note I did see O9 AEOLIA(N) but underestimated how good that would be just because of the open B in BOURGS. Bingoes ending in -ABLE or -IBLE are still possible, and I have an L to keep that possibility open. If Jeff doesn't hit the B (I felt that I was more likely to do that after he played 5 tiles with ROVEN so odds are he could have picked another R), then most of his bingoes have to end with a blank S with UNAIS.
>Jeff_Jacobson: BN 12J N.B +20 322
>Samuel_Kaplan: AEELORR 14N RE +10 357
#note Still keeping open the possibility of the open B with my leave and taking out bingoes with UNAIS as well as things like O8 ERUPTIo(N) after his fish.
>Jeff_Jacobson: IP 3E PI +15 337
>Samuel_Kaplan: AELMORR E3 .ARLOR +16 373
#note I only saw the possibility of B5 TULlI(B)EE for Jeff with an H draw and not B5 THUrI(B)LE with an E draw. It turns out I only win 5/8 with this move. 4B MORE, MORA, MOLA, and 4A AMOLE all win 100% (seems crazy to open up a 3x3, right?!). The idea behind doing E3 PARLOR over E3 PALMER and 11A MA or LA to block potential out bingoes is that by leaving all 1 pointers on my rack, I will have a hard time outscoring Jeff in the endgame. If Jeff does not have a bingo, it is possible that he has HULk or LEEk at 8A and he will go out in 2 more often than I would after I am not scoring much with any move. By keeping an M, I save plays such as 13G ME to have some sort of insurance should he block the hotspot next to PARLOR and I don't draw an out play.
>Jeff_Jacobson: ?EEILTU D4 TEaL +15 352
#note And by convention, I should have lost this game. But he told me after the game that he did not know TULLIBEE.
>Samuel_Kaplan: EHM G13 H.M +25 398
#note I intentionally did not go out with C3 MEH because I saw that he was over by about 55 seconds and he had no out plays himself, so that netted me 10 more spread points plus an extra turn. #tacticssolid
>Jeff_Jacobson: EIU B10 .I +4 356
#note I4 TI is 7 for him.
>Samuel_Kaplan: E 4C E.. +3 401
#note Or 5D ERE. Thankfully I wasn't going to be E-stuck, but if you want to see an insane endgame where someone could have been E-stuck, see the video Mack Meller posted in a game he played with David Weisberg.
Couple sloppy plays with DOGGIES, WAT, and THAW, but luckily I didn't get punished for those. Final score was 405-336 because Jeff went between 61 and 120 seconds overtime. 2-0 +76.
