>Try_Guys: EEGIOPV 8H GIVE +16 16
#note This was game 2 out of 3 from my appearance on the Try Guys YouTube channel, as part of their "4 vs 1" series, released in February 2024. In this game, my handicap was to give the Try Guys a 200 point headstart and play the entire game within 2 minutes on my clock. I also suggested an additional 2 point penalty for every second I run over 2 minutes. As I wasn't keeping score, and I'm adding to XT for posterity about 2 months after the recording - unfortunately, I don't remember my racks. The Try Guys team consisted of Zach Kornfeld, Jonny Manganello, Kwesi James and Ash Perez. You can watch the video here: https://youtu.be/r7a4GCB4R6g?si=nQL42G4_UVPFVLjG
>Austin_Shin: FILSTUU 9F ULU +7 7
#note Looking at my tiles, ridding of the 2 Us was my first thought. Didn't waste any time playing ULU.
>Try_Guys: AACEIOP J6 PA.E +15 31
#note Gets rid of some vowels and scores some polnts and didn't use much time on this turn. Try Guys now up 7 - 231.
>Austin_Shin: FIOT K3 TIFO +18 25
#note Attempting to keep the board open which I figured would help me play moves faster and not getting bogged down in a closed board tactical game.
>Try_Guys: AEFIMNO 3K .AME +12 43
#note In their haste, they play (T)AME for 12 points giving away juicy hooks to reach the triple word score.
>Austin_Shin: EIKORST O3 ROKIEST +93 118
#note Before they had finished counting their score, I already knew what I was going to play. ROKIEST hooking TAME was the obvious play here, which in this kind of game is perfect - score a ton and uses very little time on the clock. Currently still have 1:38 left on my clock and the score is now 118 - 243.
>Try_Guys: DFIJNNO N2 F.N +14 57
#note They decided not to fast play and focus on better plays, but stikk played this move pretty hastily.
>Austin_Shin: AGLLNOS E7 GALLONS +70 188
#note Seemed like a simple play here so played this immediately as well. Back to back bingos was exactly what I needed in a blitz game like this. Score is now 188 - 257.
>Try_Guys: DEIJNOT 12B JOI.TED +34 91
#note They had spotted JOINTED, but was unplayable in this position.
>Austin_Shin: ADEOUWZ D6 WUZ +49 237
#note Easy 49 points setting up a bingo lane, potentially ending with -ED (making EW and DUG) parallel to WUZ. ZOWIE 58 (4H) was also a possibility.
>Try_Guys: ?EENNOQ 6N Q. +31 122
#note The Try Guys find the optimal play here according to Quackle! Nice!
>Austin_Shin: DEIO B11 E.IDO +26 263
#note Again, not a move I would normally play in a tournament game, but figured that my knowledge of 2 letter words (mostly) would come in handy for parallel plays to E(J)IDO, hitting the triple word score. This move also opens another bingo lane next to the E in column A, as technically I'm still behind 263 - 322 after this move.
>Try_Guys: ?EENNOU H12 .ONE +15 137
#note The common word NEUrONE was missed by the Try Guys in this spot, but end up playing a move that rids of their duplicate E and N, so not a bad move aside from playable bingos.
>Austin_Shin: ACDEEES A5 DECEASE +82 345
#note On this turn, I end up taking a small lead, playing it on the triple word score, rather than taking an extra 4 points making GIVED. With the way I played it, it potentially sets up a big X bomb by playing EX on B6, and racking up more easy points if that happens. I have 1:15 left on my clock at this stage, and up 345 - 337.
>Try_Guys: ?AELNPU N9 UNPLAcE +72 209
#note The Try Guys did receive a little bit of help in this spot as Lindsay (offscreen) nudged them into trying to find a playable bingo (this was shown in the video, with Zach and Jonny conferring with Lindsay and asking if UT was a word and she was nodding at them). The Try Guys after 8 moves have scored 209 points of their own (not including the 200 point handicap), and have 13:16 left on their clock, which is very respectable at any level!
>Austin_Shin: ?ABIORT L7 ORBITAl +78 423
#note Shown in the video, the Try Guys were celebrating their bingo, whilst I swiftly moved to play my fourth bingo of the game. Scoring 6 more points than UNPLAcE, I retake the lead 423 - 409, with 59 seconds left, to their slight dismay that it all happened in realtime!
>Try_Guys: AAIIMTX 15N .X +27 236
#note They miss the X bomb on B6 and play the X to block the triple word score.
>Austin_Shin: OW A14 OW +33 456
#note Honestly, I don't remember too much about this move apart from that I wasn't too far away from another bingo, but perhaps needed one more turn to get there. So decided to play the move that scores well and blocks the triple word score.
>Try_Guys: IMTY 14F MI.TY +24 260
#note Nice play here getting two higher scoring tiles on the triple letter scores. With this move, the Try Guys retake the lead 456 - 460 as we start approaching near the end of the game.
>Austin_Shin: NY 13A Y.N +25 481
#note As stated earlier, needed one turn to get closer to a bingo involved playing my Y for 25 points. I go ahead by 21 points after this.
>Try_Guys: AABIRRT 11I BRA. +12 272
#note The Try Guys keep an optimal tile leave, but they move just 9 points behind me with this turn.
>Austin_Shin: ACEIRRS C1 SCARIER +80 561
#note The move that killed off game 2 was SCARIER for 80 points. CARRIES would also fit in this position, but figured that RUG is more of a common than SUG so opted for SCARIER instead. 561 - 472 to me. I pick out the final three tiles in the bag and have 34 seconds left.
>Try_Guys: AGHIRTV 1A GA.H +36 308
#note The result is now confirmed, but the Try Guys finish strong and find the second best play here of GA(S)H for 36 points. The best play? GRAV(I)TI(NO) at 4G for 36 points. Pretty much nobody is ever finding that one!
>Austin_Shin: DHN 3B H.ND +8 569
#note My only outplay (a play that ends the game) was left untouched, so play H(A)ND for 8 points. Final score 583 - 508, and I stayed within the 2 minute time limit, as I finished the entire game in 1:34!
>Austin_Shin: (IRTV) +14 583
