#player2 Martin_Gold Martin Gold
>Samuel_Kaplan: GGINOSU -GU +0 0
#note I am close enough to a bingo to make exchanging worth it. Quackle agrees.
>Martin_Gold: AADELQV -AQV +0 0
#note I have all of Martin's racks for this game. Thanks to him for providing them! I like his response after I just exchanged because playing off 5 tiles and keeping the Q isn't going to help him when I could bingo next turn.
>Samuel_Kaplan: EGIINOS -IO +0 0
#note I apparently underestimated my chances of hitting a bingo after exchanging I instead of IO. Keeping EGINOS is actually great as even with some clunky draws (namely J for JINGOES and Y for ISOGENY or drawing an A, E, O, or U) would help. #knowledgemedium
>Martin_Gold: ADELOWX 8D WAXED +40 40
#note 8H DEWAX is 8 more for him, but I can see why he didn't do DEWAX as I can just extend that to DEWAXING for easy points.
>Samuel_Kaplan: EGGIINS F7 E.ING +15 15
#note And SIEGING doesn't play. I hate it when these small exchanges don't pan out! This was a suboptimal move and is where I feel like I lost the game. I can score the same with 9E GI and keep much better. While I do set up SEXING, he can use Column G to both score and block effectively. #strategylarge
>Martin_Gold: HLOTTUZ 6F HUT +39 79
#note And I would get punished for this mistake. Nice play by him.
>Samuel_Kaplan: ABGIOSS E2 BIOGS +23 38
#note Would I really have expected BIOGASES on Column G to stay open? Probably not. At the same time, I correctly decided HEXINGS* was phony. This play looks fine, I'm not in a rush to open 3x3s up yet with BIOGAS in the same spot.
>Martin_Gold: AALNOTZ E11 AZO +30 109
>Samuel_Kaplan: AAEILOS D2 AAL +16 54
#note And now I can't even take advantage of the Z! I saw ISOLA(T)E(D) but wasn't sure if it was worth it or not. Looking back, I like 9B AIOL(I) better for only 3 less to keep the top left open longer.
>Martin_Gold: ADIKLNT 12B DIT. +28 137
#note H1 DIKTA(T) looks like a really cool play which I would not have spotted. I would have thought of doing 14C DINK before settling on this move. Looks like another sound play to me.
>Samuel_Kaplan: EEIOSSU -EIOU +0 54
#note Yea, it's been frustrating. I have not been able to get much going and I was not comfortable doing (T)E(D)IOUS or SUI(T)E(D) because he is going to start blocking even more after I telegraph another S.
>Martin_Gold: AKLNNOS 14B SLANK +51 188
#note Looks solid.
>Samuel_Kaplan: CEEERSS H1 SECRE.E. +36 90
#note And let's just say that I delivered myself an even bigger blow by not seeing I1 CREESES and not being sure of B5 RECESSE(D), which I chickened out of. #knowledgelarge
>Martin_Gold: BNOPRTY F1 BY +31 219
#note While I would have done 1A PROB here, this is once again a sound play giving me nothing back.
>Samuel_Kaplan: AACILOS 15F ASOCIAL +86 176
#note There we go. I'm not out of the woods, but I am at least within earshot.
>Martin_Gold: NNOPRTW 5G N.WTON +20 239
#note Nice play.
>Samuel_Kaplan: DILNORR 15A ROIL +22 198
#note Not an easy call. Wasn't sure if undoubling my R was 8 points better than LOID in the same spot. It sims neck and neck, but this wasn't a good draw.
>Martin_Gold: EEMPRVY 4K PERVY +42 281
#note He's playing better than me and is comfortably ahead despite not bingoing at all.
>Samuel_Kaplan: ?DDMNNR K4 ..ND +7 205
#note G5 (NU)M(E)N is the only valid play that utilized that spot in the middle. While I looked for plays forming NUDE, I can't reference the Garden of EDEN* on a Scrabble board unlike the Bible.
>Martin_Gold: EEFIMQU O1 QUE. +48 329
#note Best by far.
>Samuel_Kaplan: ??DMNRT 9E D.M +19 224
#note Once again, G5 (NU)M(E)N was missed. This is just behind that one, but I had 2H (E)NToDeRM lined up, only for that to get blocked to my dismay.
>Martin_Gold: EEFIMOV N2 MO.IE +34 363
#note This was misscored as 32. But still easily best.
>Samuel_Kaplan: ??AENRT O6 TEleRAN +70 294
#note I could have used those vowels 2 turns ago. I did not know that ASOCIAL took an S, so I settled on this easy lane for just 1 less. And it's too little too late.
>Martin_Gold: AEFIJRU J13 AJ. +26 389
>Samuel_Kaplan: EEFIIPR I12 IF +18 312
#note I briefly considered fishing off an I going for B5 PURIFIE(D). But yea, maybe 13I F(A)ERIE at this point. This game is lost. Misscored as 20.
>Martin_Gold: EFIRTTU K10 TUFT +20 409
#note M6 TUFTIER is his play here.
>Samuel_Kaplan: EEIPRUV L8 VEEP +19 331
#note M6 PREVUE would have been easily better, but I was low on time once again.
>Martin_Gold: EGHIOOR H10 OOH +19 428
>Samuel_Kaplan: IRU B10 RI. +6 337
>Martin_Gold: EGIR 14L ERG +10 438
>Samuel_Kaplan: U 1F .U. +5 342
#note Or 10J U(TE). Yea, the exchanges in the beginning were the right idea, but they did not materialize and then EXING proved to be one of several game-losing mistakes. I tip my hat to Martin, he played a very sound game and beat me by more than a bingo despite him not bingoing at all and me double-blanking him. Final score was recorded as 436-346. 1-1 +93.
>Samuel_Kaplan: (I) +2 344
