#note Sims a couple points better than just keeping EN. After her exchange, I'm more likely to get a bingo from her with floaters to bingo back through, so it also seemed good to favor rack stability over turnover.

#note Not good but I held briefly and let it go. She does have 11D AVIGATOR 94, though I didn't notice this at the time. I knew AVOGADRO* sounded familiar, but couldn't place the source. Avogadro was an Italian scientist, known for his contributions to molecular theory, among which are Avogadro's law and Avogadro's constant. Flora played this with such deft certainty that I was taken aback. I believe she used to be an editor for science publications. I can hardly think of a more elegant phony played against me. It would be the first of two math and science-related phonies she would get away with on me in this tournament. With this one, I can easily imagine Avogadro being the name of a unit of measurement itself.

>Flora_Taylor: GIOTU 12F .GOUTI +8 97
#note This seemed unusual. Fortunately I had an S.
>David_Weisberg: DIIOSSW L10 WIS +28 135
#note I missed G3 DISOWN 29, which sims 4.5 points better, but her bold play made me suspect she had an S herself. L9 IWIS 30 sims 1.5 better than my play, but with a K still unseen, it seemed an unnecessary risk.
>Flora_Taylor: EOZ H12 .OZE +39 136
>David_Weisberg: BDILNOS 15B BLONDI.S +62 197
#note I played this fairly immediately after OOZE, forgetting that it's not good. The only 8 is BLONDISH. The valid options aren't too exciting, but 11K BID 20 sims best and seems fine.
>Flora_Taylor: ACDEORT K3 REDCOAT +73 209
#note K4 CORDATE 75 sims 4 points better, but neither can avoid opening the triple with A by the DLS.
>David_Weisberg: AEEEIRU -AEEIU +0 197
#note 14G AZURE 20 sims best, with 8K AUREI 18 less than 0.5 behind. My exchange sims 8 points behind AZURE. 20 points isn't bad, especially when slightly behind, but there were lots of scoring tiles left for the triple, and EEI seemed asking for trouble. The pool has a good amount of consonants though, so maybe it wouldn't be that bad, and another triple is already open. The sim says she only averages 2 points more on her next turn after AZURE compared to my exchange, oddly.

#note Crazy draw here and a tricky turn too. I don't remember if I even noticed J9 EX 52, which sims best, since the blank O made it a little harder to see. Or, I might have seen it and figured I was likely to draw A, E, or O to use the spot next turn. About 5 points behind EX is J10 FYTTE 33, which I don't think I saw. I got preoccupied with the idea of drawing a P for PYX L2 55. A point behind FYTTE is 13K FEY, which I'm not sure I thought much about. It allows for both AX/EX/OX and PYX next turn, as well as E5 RETAX 40 if I don't draw what I need for the other plays, or they are blocked. I did consider 11J EXIT 42, but the Y's lose their appeal without an X, and I don't want the F either. EXIT sims last of the options I compared, at half a point behind my play.
AFTER takes the triple but floats three good bingo tiles, with a leave nowhere close to a bingo. It sims 9 points behind EX. According to the sim, Flora bingos 21% of the time if I play AFTER, nearly twice as much as the other plays. Without bingo tiles myself though, I thought I had to make the most of these scoring tiles. I might have overestimated the threat of the triple though. I don't care for FYTTE as it doesn't get me close to big X plays next turn. I like FEY because of the flexibility it offers, while shedding one of the Y's, and giving little back. I would prefer this over EX with its clunky leave.

>David_Weisberg: MPTUXYY L2 PYX +55 288
>Flora_Taylor: EFH E4 FEH +25 290
#note It would have been 38 at H1. She told me later she missed it.
>David_Weisberg: AIMTTUY 13L TUI +13 301
#note Quackle likes 4C MUFTI 20, which I may have missed. It sims 9 points better than TUI, with more defensive plays like 2L PITY 18 (also setting up my M) or 6K CITY falling in between. I was probably concerned about the triple from KILLS with two S's unseen.
>Flora_Taylor: ?DEEIRR O2 DERRIE.e +59 349
#note This was a good find but unfortunately a missed opportunity as there were also N2 REINDEER or GREEDIER 74, O1 DREARIER 74, or the great overlap G2 REREMIND 77, which sims a poibt or so better than these, but is very hard to see. The 74 point options all sim equally.
>David_Weisberg: AMPTTUY 4C TU.TY +22 323
#note Sims a couple of points better than taking the points with N6 PYE.
>Flora_Taylor: GOU M5 GOU. +6 355
>David_Weisberg: AIIMPVW N1 VIM +26 349
#note I probably jumped on this but J9 AW 28 actually sims 3 points better. This might be because it blocks AH or EH, while preserving VIM in two spots (this or at 3B for 24), though the AIRY hook is still open. I figured I had a good chance at AW or EW next turn.
>Flora_Taylor: H 13H .H +18 373
>David_Weisberg: AEEINPW J9 EW +28 377
>Flora_Taylor: AAEELSS 13A LESSE. +27 400
#note Her best play, but she can't win now. It's too costly to block PERTAIN and it's hard to even keep me from going out by other means. It seems only 5A SEE / SEA / SAE would block, but then I get NEAPS or REAPS for 30, putting me up by 29. After ALES / ALAS 13A 23, she's within 6, but only gets 4 from IN / IR.
