#player1 Jeremy_Hall Jeremy Hall
#player2 Jonathan_Lindh Jonathan Lindh
>Jeremy_Hall: GORY 8G GORY +16 16
>Jonathan_Lindh: ADGNRRS J6 DR. +11 11
#note Jeremy unfortunately didn't float an I for GRANDSIR or an U for GURNARDS. DRY is best.
>Jeremy_Hall: ?EINSTV 6C INVESTe. +63 79
#note None of us saw 9E VAINEST for 78 post-mortem. That's very hard to see. INVESTED seems very defensive and a great option out of the non-VAINEST bingos.
>Jonathan_Lindh: AAGINRS H4 GA. +6 17
#note I saw ARRAIGNS, but didn't notice it still fit at H7 for 68. SARANGI also plays at A9 for 64. ARRAIGNS seems like the play.
>Jeremy_Hall: AEJ D3 JEA. +22 101
>Jonathan_Lindh: ABFINRS C5 F.B +16 33
#note Bad draw, but FIB seems fine.
>Jeremy_Hall: ILL 3D .ILL +12 113
>Jonathan_Lindh: AINQRRS 8A QIS +45 78
#note Best.
>Jeremy_Hall: AD G3 .AD. +11 124
>Jonathan_Lindh: AINORRV 9D RAVIN +15 93
#note I think RAVIN is best. Quackle also likes I3 VANE for 18, which I don't.
>Jeremy_Hall: AEIORST 4G ..O +4 128
#note RAVIN blocked ROTARIES, so RAVIN was right in this case.
>Jonathan_Lindh: AABHOPR 3I BAP +17 110
#note 3I BARHOP for 39 is the star play here, but if you miss BARHOP, BAP seems like a perfectly good option. I thought Jeremy was going to bingo on the 10 row and then I would get an HO___ play at J2 for 50+ points.
>Jeremy_Hall: AEEIRST L3 SERIATE +74 202
#note Best. Given Jeremy's actual rack, BAP and BARHOP would have worked out about the same in the long run.
>Jonathan_Lindh: AAEHNOR M9 HERON +33 143
#note Probably this play or HONER in the same spot. I need to score and I need to open.
>Jeremy_Hall: EOTTU A6 TO.UET +15 217
>Jonathan_Lindh: AACEFGH B10 FAG +30 173
#note I should be able to nuke this spot, but scoring 30 and keeping ACEH is a good 2nd place prize. FAG seems best.
>Jeremy_Hall: EMNOOST K9 MOONSET +76 293
#note Would you play 14I MOONSET for 81? I sure wouldn't and neither would Quackle. K9 MOONSET for 76 sims best.
>Jonathan_Lindh: ACEEHMT 13D MACHETE. +70 243
#note Best. The other MOONSET allows a much higher score more befitting of a MACHETE bingo.
>Jeremy_Hall: OWY H12 Y.OW +42 335
>Jonathan_Lindh: ?CEIKNZ 15K .ICK +11 254
#note What would you do here? I obviously considered J2 ZA for 31 and KA for 16, but ZA doesn't open anything and never wins against a human opponent and KA is too easily blocked. I then started eyeing options in the lower right and saw TICK, then I triple checked to make sure there was only one unseen O. Then I played TICK. The Championship Player doesn't find TICK but when added to the sim, TICK crushes the sim. In addition to setting up my blank, it also blocks one of the XED spots at J14. I think it's even better than the sim suggests because human opponents will often make non-optimal blocking plays that might yield 130 point triple Z bingos or 200+ point triple triples. Easily my best play of the year so far, and this may hold up as my best play ever of 2024.
>Jeremy_Hall: DEX N10 XED +57 392
#note XED was the difference in this game. Jeremy's margin of victory was 55 and XED was 57. A lot of people miss XED but Jeremy did not.
>Jonathan_Lindh: ?EILNOZ O11 ZEINs +89 343
#note I still crush the spot, but don't score quite as much as I hoped.
>Jeremy_Hall: EUUUW J12 E.W +29 421
#note Jeremy said he kept 3 U's to make this play. Scored as 30.
>Jonathan_Lindh: ADILNOP 2J PO +24 367
#note Nothing wins, but I goofed this endgame. Quackle likes D11 DIM for 12, slowplaying Jeremy.
>Jeremy_Hall: ILRUUU D11 RU. +10 431
>Jonathan_Lindh: ADILN 5K D.AIN +12 379
#note NIDAL got blocked but I was starting to run low on time. I3 BODE for 11 is best.
>Jeremy_Hall: ILUU 1K LI +8 439
>Jonathan_Lindh: L N4 L. +2 381
#note I3 BOLE for 9.
>Jonathan_Lindh: (UU) +4 385
#note Final score recorded as 439-385.
