#note Wellington Janniversary Round 2

Howard told me this rack after the game. He considered GURU or exchanging. If I exchanged I'd have kept the R or maybe AR, but his exchange is simming decently too.
>Chris_Tallman: ABEIJOS 8H BASIJ +44 44
#note I'm happy I found this, another 5 I somewhat recently studied, as it scores 44 like the other J plays but avoids slotting the S in the middle triple lane.
>Howard_Warner: ANRT 9G RANT +15 15
>Chris_Tallman: BEEFIOW 7G WOF +32 76
#note I didn't love the vowel-heavy non-bingo prone BEEI leave, but this is simming best. I didn't generate JEWIE (30) somehow; I'd have played it (wrongly?) if I saw it despite the floating I and E it opens and Howard's likely one-point, consonant-heavy leave.
>Howard_Warner: OY 10I OY +34 49
>Chris_Tallman: BEEILNU 11I NEBULI +31 107
>Chris_Tallman: BEEILNU -- -31 76
#note One of those moments where you play a word og which you have no doubt, then your very strong opponent says hold, and doubt creeps in... I didn't see JUBILE (or JUBILEE), and wasn't sure if NEBULE took an S (it does), so I made this play. It would've been instachallenged, but it gave Howard a spot for QI for 62. He said after the game that he felt he should've let my play go and cashed that spot.
>Howard_Warner: INQ 11G QIN +20 69
>Chris_Tallman: BEEILNU L8 .EUNE +24 100
#note Even if I saw JUBILE or JUBILEE this turn, I like JEUNE now, as with FANOS blocked, there are no S hooks on the board, JEUNE doesn't take an S, and BIL is a decent synergystic leave.
>Howard_Warner: AELMO M9 AMOLE +27 96
#note Nice play by Howard to fork and force the board open.
>Chris_Tallman: BIILNTY 12D BINIT +30 130
#note I preferred the floating B over the T (TIYIN, 32), but TIYIN is 2 more points and maybe a bit better of a leave, close call.
>Howard_Warner: ATX 11C TAX +42 138
>Chris_Tallman: EEILOOY 6C LOOIE +12 142
#note I couldn't stomach the massive overlap spot that OY (19) created (potential double-double for 100+), and felt that the 3 vowels in a row of LOOIE were harder to hit. OILY/ABY (22) gives back a big spot in the triple line which then gives me no counterplay. All the plays suck here, but I don't hate my choice.
>Howard_Warner: AAGI 5C AIGA +22 160
#note Happy to not get hit with a bingo, as he's been grooming his rack for a while, or a bigger play here
>Chris_Tallman: ADEGKLY 4A KEDGY +57 199
#note Lucky that this fit so nicely.
>Howard_Warner: EIMPRSS 14H IMPRESS +92 252
#note Howard's highest scoring bingo, and it takes a back E (!) which he knew and I didn't - showing how far I still have to go.
>Chris_Tallman: AELOPRU 15D PULAO +36 235
>Howard_Warner: ILN A1 LIN. +24 276
#note Was thinking of LINKROTS and LINKSTER etc once this came down.
>Chris_Tallman: EERRSTV N4 REVERTS +80 315
>Howard_Warner: ?EGHORT 5H tOGETH.R +72 348
#note Howard's back in command, though my chances would be good still if I knew IMPRESSE...
>Chris_Tallman: ADDEERV O1 ADDE. +27 342
#note Notwithstanding VADED (45) with IMPRESSE and other plays there, I had a tough move here and I took almost 10 minutes. I felt that I needed to bingo to win most likely. I was considering DEVA/ABA to open another lane and keep DER, to hit the L or I once Howard took that spot. I also was unsure if DEVER* was good - I liked it since it scored well (top right) and opened the D and E for 8's, but correctly passed it up. I also considered RAVER there, but felt that the 2 D's were worse for my bingo chances than keeping the V was. My play of ADDER is a middle of the road option that keeps an okay bingo leave of ERV while keeping the option open to outscore without a bingo, and creates a bingo lane to the D without keeping a second one - still unsure of what I should've done here (given I didn't know IMPRESSE).
>Howard_Warner: AZ N1 ZA +39 387
#note Not fun to see this immediate response.
>Chris_Tallman: CCERTVW 10B WET +21 363
#note I decided to give up, but I should've tried with VET to set up EVET - I just figured Howard very likely had the last E (oops) or the blank and would hammer that spot and cost me spread needlessly, and I wasn't bingoing quickly with my leave anyway...
>Howard_Warner: DFU B6 FUD +32 419
#note I thought of the B hook when I played LOOIE, but not the F.
>Chris_Tallman: ?CCEORV H1 COVE. +30 393
#note I was regetting not playing VET after this miracle draw (no bingo immediately but still).
>Howard_Warner: HINU M3 HU. +21 440
>Chris_Tallman: ?CR L3 Ci. +21 414
#note Should've just gone out, but I had like 10 seconds left and played the first thing I saw.
