#note I forgot to record my opening rack but it must have been good with what happened next.

>David_Weisberg: EEHORST 7B HETEROS +64 90
#note Both placements sim even, with mine a small fraction of a point ahead.

#note Odd choice from me, but I wasn't seeing anything that looked great. 2B PREACT 32 sims best, followed by G6 TOPIC 26 2 points behind, then G6 COP 3 points behind. 8A GITE 22 is 3.5 behind and keeps some strong scoring tiles in a flexible combination, but the board doesn't seem right for it. My play fares second worst among those I simmed, at 6 points behind PREACT. I'm not sure what I'd do here if I did it over, but PREACT and TOPIC. Unfortunately at 21 points, B3 GRAPHIC doesn't score enough to be worth it, since it still leaves row 1 open. It comes about 12.5 behind PREACT.

#note I wasn't positive of this but I liked it enough, and it's hard to challenge unless you just know. I should learn the periodic table better.

#note 5C OVERFINE 76 looks scary but sims almost 5 points better. I'd have a hard time doing it with how much friendlier it makes the board for Barry, not to mention opening a potentially huge spot for the Q with 3 U's unseen. I would still play REFINES despite this sim result.

>David_Weisberg: ?ENOOVZ K4 ZONE +37 291
#note Sim slightly prefers OZONE, only by less than a point. Since he just exchanged 5 I know he wouldn't keep an O, but there were 3 more to draw. Holding the blank, I wasn't as worried about return bingos hooking ZONE. K3 ZOON 32 sims about a point behind my play, and looks safer in a way, but he can get easy points through the Z and open the board back up, and I lack an S to hook whichever Z word (I wouldn't want to use my blank to do it unless it bingoed or scored a lot), so it could become hard to block the new lane. K4 ZOO 30 would also be good, but I guess I felt like my position was very strong and I could start trying to pile on spread. It still sims a few points behind OZONE.
I actually hoped for something short next turn like AVO, or ending in D or some other non-hooking word, but with my next rack it wasn't to be. I can believe OZONE is better here because he can't bingo through the O due to the C, and at worst he'd have a 50 point Q play.

>David_Weisberg: ?LOTTTV 3J VOLT +28 319
#note With the F line at A8 open and the possibility of new lines being opened from a play down column H, O4 VOLTS 12 may not be as much of a kill shot as it seems. My play sims best, followed by M2 VOLT 17 (not considered, but it's more restrictive in general) 9.5 behind, and VOLTS about 18 points behind. Quackle thinks these all win 99% of the time anyway, which may not be far from the truth. He'd really need something like a bingo with Q hitting the DLS and beginning or ending with S on the O column, or a big F bingo down column A (which my plays don't address anyway). He's more likely to have the last S after IMPS though, so that may have some bearing here. I wouldn't argue with anyione who wanted to play VOLTS, but it may be a little paranoid. The tournament situation here was that I was 0-3 and nearly -400 spread, so trying to gain back some ground seemed warranted.

>David_Weisberg: ADGINNO O6 DO.ING +8 413
#note Making sure to block SQUEALED, but this is the wrong way to do it. I should have played something like N7 APING 10, holding the D for VOLTED. I don't recall if I missed VOLTED or wasn't sure of it. I may also have been low on time despite this game very much going my way. APING sims 10 better than DOSING, and O8 SING 5 is about 6 behind APING.

>David_Weisberg: AENU O1 AE +11 424
#note Sloppy. I must have missed BLED or I'd surely have played 14A UN 14, but I might have been low on time from earlier trying to makie absolutely sure I'd win.
