>Jennifer_Smith: EEEEEEE -EEEEEEE +0 0
#note Whangarei Round 29
>Chris_Tallman: EIIJOOT 8G JOE +20 20
#note A tough choice between taking 20 points and exchanging (I'd keep ET). I decided to take a few points and the temporary lead, since I was given the first turn back with Jennifer's ex 7. The sim prefers exchanging but only slightly.
>Jennifer_Smith: ADEPRSV I7 D.PRAVES +70 70
#note Jennifer says 'it was a nice change' and bingoes through the floating E - she picked the best spot for it too. I was wishing I'd exchanged first turn as well, now.
>Chris_Tallman: GHIINOT 14F HOI.TING +72 92
#note Lucky to bingo back with my poor IIOT leave. This does create a massive potential S hook that neither of us were sure of, but it's the only bingo so I have no choice but to play it.
>Jennifer_Smith: EFIN 15E NIEF +43 113
>Jennifer_Smith: LUU (challenge) +5 118
#note I gave the extra 5 here as I wasn't sure NIEF/NEIF were both good.
>Chris_Tallman: ?EEMTTZ J1 MoZETTE +72 164
#note Bingoing isn't too much better than other plays like MEZE, though that's factoring in holding the blank for HOISTINGS which I'm not confident in at all - which makes the bingo clearly the best option in practice.
>Jennifer_Smith: LUU 3J .ULU +26 144
>Chris_Tallman: BCEGINR 1J .INCER +33 197
#note I took a while here as I could tell my backup, and eventually real, play of MINCER (33) holding BG sucked. I wasn't confident that BERM was a verb (BERMING for 39), and didn't see BEGRIM (36) either. I also didn't look through the A long enough to find RIBCAGE double double (48) either, which seems like the best play in this position. I didn't want to make any fishier plays as I felt scoring was important, only up 20 points.
>Jennifer_Smith: ?ADIORS F2 ROADIeS +72 216
#note Jennifer didn't think HOISTINGS was good either, luckily for me as she could've gotten an 103 point play there this turn (98 + 5 from my challenge).
>Chris_Tallman: ABEEGRS 4H BE.RAGES +89 286
#note I saw my 7's BARGEES and BAREGES, and was annoyed that Jennifer used the SJOE hook for them. I briefly considered hooking HOISTINGS, and may have pulled the trigger if I didn't then look elsewhere and spot BEERAGES, which I'd recently studied, as BEERAGE is Collins-only and 10k probability. Jennifer said she'd just learned it in the last week also.
>Jennifer_Smith: OOPW O4 .WOOP +30 246
#note I'd have been pretty concerned about a J or Z setup if they both hadn't already been played.. except I didn't track my opening play JOE for the longest time and so was concerned...
>Chris_Tallman: ACEGILX L10 LAXI.G +32 318
#note I went for hard defense here, up by 40 and going up 72 (a bingo) after this turn, taking up as much space as possible and holding the C to potentially block in the future. ILEX (41) scores the most, though it's a bit dangerous leaving CG together and the board open, since if Jennier bingoes and I draw badly I could be in trouble. I do have to worry about forcing her to try HOISTINGS by closing other spots, which she would ifit was her only chance to win even though she didn't try it when she bingoed with ROADIES - so maybe just scoring becomes better to outrun HOISTINGS plays. Tough move here and I took a while.
>Jennifer_Smith: DEIORTW N7 DOWTIER +70 316
>Jennifer_Smith: DEIORTW -- -70 246
#note Jennifer felt she needed to try this being down 72.
>Chris_Tallman: CENNORU M11 RUN. +25 343
>Jennifer_Smith: DEIORTW N4 .EW +32 278
>Chris_Tallman: ACENNOT E1 CONNATE +83 426
>Chris_Tallman: BEIKSUY (challenge) +5 431
#note This takes no hooks, which might be why she challenged it (if someone had tried CONNATES or CONNATED against her in the past). I was happy to find the 6-overlap bingo to essentially seal the game as the next best option ENACTION (62) put an E in the triple-triple lane.
>Jennifer_Smith: DIOR 1A DORI. +27 305
>Chris_Tallman: BEIKSUY 10D BUSKE. +14 445
#note I counted 11 in the bag, so I wanted to make a 5-tile play so that Jennifer couldn't bingo twice as she'd then have a 6-tile rack after bingoing. I didn't care at all about spread as I had that tiebreaker locked up by a mile - I just wanted to make 100% sure I won the game. KIBBES (42) and SUBBIE (30) accomplish this, but I wasn't sure of them, so I made a 5-tile play I was sure of, which blocked some lines in the process too.
>Jennifer_Smith: ADEHT 11B DEATH +31 336
>Chris_Tallman: AAIIMYY 12D MAYA +44 489
>Jennifer_Smith: AFLLOTV K9 LAV +26 362
#note Jennifer can't stick my Q because of QADI through AD on row 5.
>Chris_Tallman: IIQY 12A QI +24 513
>Jennifer_Smith: FLOT 2A OF +23 385
>Chris_Tallman: IY O4 .....Y +14 527
#note For style.
>Jennifer_Smith: LT 6E ..LT +4 389
#note One more game left - I go over to check on Lawson - he's won again too. So now I have to beat the #2 seed Cecily to guarantee I win this.
