>Chris_Tallman: EIMOOSZ 8D ZOISM +52 52
#note Whangarei Round 20
>Alexander_Gandar: AWX 9C WAX +37 37
>Chris_Tallman: AEENOUY E8 ..EYE +30 82
#note I considered OXO/OYE (24) and YOU/OXY (21) as they leave better and are better defensively than my play OXEYE. I missed what I definitely would've played if I saw it though, OZAENA through ZA (30), which is much better scoring defense even though it leaves EUY and seems clearly better.
>Alexander_Gandar: AEEHV F10 HEAVE +41 78
#note Punished for my poor defensive play, though it takes a million hooks and I should be able to hit back on the triple line.
>Chris_Tallman: AAELNOU 15D ULNAE +30 112
#note I'll take 30 points with this rack. Tried to look for a play that kept a better leave than AO but no reasonable ones are available.
>Alexander_Gandar: INO 7G ION +12 90
>Chris_Tallman: AGHLORT 9G HAG +28 140
#note I looked for a while at overlaps to ION as GH, TH etc all fit there, but I didn't see anything spectacular. I still maybe should've played longer with TORAH or LOTAH as the LORT leave isn't too promising especially for scoring next turn - if Alex takes the spot next to YE/EA in the bottom left, I may be left with few options.
>Alexander_Gandar: DEIINOT 14H EDITION +72 162
#note Alex says 'baby bingo' as he puts this down, a term I'd taught him earlier that day heh. TENIOID overlapping ION with EISH/NOMA (77) was a really tough spot.
>Chris_Tallman: DKLORTT 15L TROD +25 165
#note I can't hit back too hard, but this does set the K up with KOR above the -OR, and it plays with KEA or KYE next to OXEYE too for some flexibility next turn.
>Alexander_Gandar: AELPRST J1 PLATERS +67 229
#note I held for a few seconds but released - those racks with a ton of bingoes are always tough for me to know cold. Alex had some overlap options (STAPLER/PSALTER (80)), but they were again tough, needing to use PISH/EISH, LOMA - hard overlaps to see.
>Chris_Tallman: AIJKLRT 5E TALKI.R +44 209
#note A lot of very different options this turn. I considered JAP or JARP for 36/39 up top, JAK above the EDI of EDITION (35) to keep a bingo-ish leave of LIRT, and what I played, TALKIER double-double for 44 keeping the J - which has a home waiting with JOR in the bottom right corner if I draw an O, a spot beside the A of PLATERS, and could potentially hit a big play hooking STALKIER along the D column. I did miss JARTA through the A of PLATERS - but that and the other plays I discussed all are simming really closely.
>Alexander_Gandar: ABER H1 BREA. +36 265
#note He's not giving me a break in scoring to catch up...
>Chris_Tallman: ABGJRSY 14A GABY +25 234
#note This may have been a case of fancy play syndrome - I'm setting up 60 point J bombs with a draw of any vowel through the G of GABY, and playing 4 as opposed to 2 tiles to get an O for the JOR spot, but BY beside OXEYE (34) is simming decently better.
>Alexander_Gandar: ?EINORR A7 ORdERIN. +77 342
#note He'd have had to find ORNERIER to the R in BREAK if I'd played BY. I'm definitely in trouble now.
>Chris_Tallman: DEFGJLS B10 FED +33 267
#note I saw FJELDS (44), but I still wanted to keep the J for JOR with 3 O's out, and keep the lines to the R and E in BREAK open for 8's. FED is simming best.
>Alexander_Gandar: IQ B6 QI +33 375
>Chris_Tallman: GIJLNOS 13M JOG +45 312
#note Finally got it. JOLING with 6 overlaps on top of EDITION is pretty and also 59 points. I didn't see it, but I'd still play JOG if I had to keep a nice leave to hit the G for 80+ next turn.
>Alexander_Gandar: OPW 6D POW +31 406
#note Scoring a bit too much for my liking - I'll still be an underdog even if I bingo now.
>Chris_Tallman: CDILNSU K11 DUC. +14 326
#note I considered INCLUDE (24) to the E in BREAK, but didn't want to block the 8's lines up there and draw 6 random tiles, even to an S leave, as I really need to bingo. The sim is liking PICULS (which I didn't see) for 39 up top holding DN. I see the logic since it opens a few more lines, scores enough to where a bingo is more likely to win it for me, keeps the N for the -NG spot, and also Alex isn't a lot more likely than random to have the last blank, as his last 2 plays were a bingo (random draw after) and QI which he'd play from many non-blank racks, and only drew 2 more, meaning digging for blanks here is pretty viable. I decided to keep my strong leave, even though I'm still 78 (I'm overscored by 2) behind after this play, and hope to bingo next turn, then win a close endgame. Probably wrong, but better than the sim thinks due to potential human error from Alex if I make it close.
>Alexander_Gandar: TU O11 TU. +5 411
#note I'd drawn SMELTING in that spot, but was still happy to see this, as I partly needed to induce him to not score so my bingoes win.
>Chris_Tallman: ?EILMNS L6 ISLeMEN +75 401
#note I had about a minute left - I saw MOLINES first but was unsure it took an S, which wasted a bit of time - then saw this with 30 seconds left and put it down. LUMINES doubles the M for 79, and there are cool 9's like MELANIZES for 78, but I didn't have time to find them. Now I just had to hope to draw an out in one that'd be enough.
>Alexander_Gandar: AEINOST N5 ATONIES +63 474
#note I draw F,U,C ... yeah, you know what I was thinking... Alex held ISLEMEN for a bit, and then put down the dagger ATONIES (I also picked up a V). Well played to Alex, with the same word Tara beat me with for the first time live over the Xmas holidays too.
