>Lynn_Wood: INTV 8G VINT +14 14
#note Whangarei Round 14
>Chris_Tallman: ABEELTZ J6 ZE.A +33 33
#note Spent a while, wanted to play BENZAL (28) to not give the spot parallel to the Z - but BLET is a decent leave and the 5 extra points make this worth it - the sim likes this by a decent amount.
>Lynn_Wood: LOW K5 LOW +28 42
>Chris_Tallman: BEILQTT L4 QI +24 57
#note Considered BILE next to LOW for 32, as I don't have an I, or an N to reparallel QI, but the Q isn't great on this board, and I decided that dumping it was the highest priority. The sim agrees by a few points.
>Lynn_Wood: ?AHIINR K9 HAIRINg +73 115
#note I was impressed with this, I'd just learned HAIRING studying Collins only 7's, it's almost 10k probability.
>Chris_Tallman: BDELPTT I3 BLED +23 80
#note Chickened out of BLITTED (26), and decided to score a bit with BLED/DZO instead of fishing with BITT through HAIRING - along with opening the top with the ABLED hook.
>Lynn_Wood: ADHLY 12I HA.DLY +26 141
>Chris_Tallman: EILOPTT M3 TIPTOE +34 114
#note PLOTTIE was in the range I'd studied pre-tourney - disappointing miss. I think I tunnelled towards using the QI spot, looked for 8's for a bit, then gave up. Didn't know PITOT, which scores 4 less than TIPTOE but keeps better and doesn't open the triple spot next to the E. Not a great turn.
>Lynn_Wood: EMNO 15K .NOME +21 162
>Chris_Tallman: DEGORRU 8L D.GU +24 138
#note Considered GUR and NUDER (27) in the bottom right, but decided taking out the triple spot was highest priority despite the double R leave. Doesn't sim too badly, I don't mind this choice.
>Lynn_Wood: EK N10 KE. +20 182
>Chris_Tallman: ACEJORR 14M JOR +39 177
>Lynn_Wood: SX 10J S.X +28 210
>Chris_Tallman: AACEORV H1 OVA +22 199
#note Considered COAEVAL, but wasn't 100% sure on the spelling (EA or AE), and the leave with OVA is pretty good. Funny since I play it as a bingo later in the tourney after looking up the spelling after this game. OVA over AVO since I'm holding an A, to expose the unduplicated tile in the bingo lane.
>Lynn_Wood: EPR N1 PRE +12 222
>Chris_Tallman: ACEORTT 1E COR.TATE +61 260
>Chris_Tallman: ACFIRUY (challenge) +5 265
#note She didn't quite block this, happily.
>Lynn_Wood: EMT 2J MET +25 247
>Chris_Tallman: ACFIRUY G3 FURY +26 291
#note Looked at CHARDLY* (had when I had the other C too), which distracted me and took some of my time - was starting to get into pretty bad time pressure. I wanted to do something about the bingo lines off of the H in HARDLY, but couldn't figure anything out. I missed CRUCIFY (34) in the process, though I did want to keep the C to block, and CRUCIFY does open another lane on the left.
>Lynn_Wood: GNU F4 GUN +18 265
#note Opening a nasty 2x2 lane.
>Chris_Tallman: ABCDIOO 11E ADOBO +21 312
#note I went for hard defense on this turn - after ADOBO, only bingoes ending in S (and a few less likely options) fit. Perhaps I should have just went for equity - I considered BAC/BUR/ANY to block the double double lane and still score 30, and BOOAI there - never saw COBIA there for 34 - those last 2 options open easy 7's lanes though - not sure what's best on this move.
>Lynn_Wood: ?AEINSU 13C AUNtIES +73 338
#note Watching Lynn immerdiately laying down a bingo after my hyper-defensive play was pretty demoralizing. Definitely time for mental strength to keep playing well.
>Chris_Tallman: AACEGII O1 AECIA +43 355
#note I had about 2 minutes left when she bingoed. I saw CAGE for 30 next to GUN, but hated the AII leave and the easy scoring spot it opened for Lynn to the triple from the E. I kept looking, and spotted this play with about 40 seconds left. Proud of my battling instinct in this spot.
>Lynn_Wood: EFILNSS 12B FEN +18 356
#note She said 'that's a big blow' and then started thinking, and so do I about possible responses to her plays (I have EGIRW). I'm worried that WIG under AUNTIES would give too many points back under it or hooking SWIG, then see WIRE/EA followed by GUR, but worry that the SWIRE hook would lose me the game, so I consider GUR first, but then I might not be able to go out if she blocks WIRE. Then she makes her play...
>Chris_Tallman: EGIRW 10B WIRE +17 372
#note Lots of plays win here, this isn't the best, but it's what I was thinking about on her time. Lynn had 3 winning plays last turn, but it wasn't an easy turn for her either.
>Lynn_Wood: ILSS A8 LIS +17 373
>Chris_Tallman: G 5E G.. +8 380
#note Really happy to pull this one out in the endgame.
