>Lawson_Sue: ACKLO 8H CLOAK +32 32
#note Whangarei Round 9
>Chris_Tallman: ADENSTU M6 UNSATED +72 72
#note Didn't study Collins only words that already had TWL anagrams as closely, and it cost me a bit here, SAUNTED and UNDATES are 80 points.
>Lawson_Sue: CEIJOR 11G REJOIC. +32 64
>Chris_Tallman: AADGNUV 10C GUAVA +19 91
#note Debated between taking the points with GAD and dumping my U and V with GUAVA - decided on the better leave (and GAD opens the huge triple lane on the right - but missed UNREJOICED for 40! (wouldn't have been sure of it anyway). GUAVA to the A in CLOAK keeps AND vs ND for my play too - not a great turn by me.
>Lawson_Sue: EOX 12G EXO +47 111
>Chris_Tallman: ADNNTTV D8 VA.NT +24 115
#note Simming much better than DANT/REJOICED, the other option I considered.
>Lawson_Sue: AEU 13I EAU +15 126
>Chris_Tallman: ?DNOTTT N9 TOD +30 145
#note Considered DOT for 5 less to not open the triple line - maybe should have played that considering Lawson likely didn't keep high point tiles to hit the DO- spot after EAU - but maybe that's a bit results-oriented.
>Lawson_Sue: ?AEGIRR O4 AnGRIER +80 206
#note He'd have had to find GERARDIA or GARRIGUE if I'd played DOT - though with how he was playing, he likely would have.
>Chris_Tallman: ?BLNQTT K7 Q.T +12 157
#note This I think was the critical turn of the game. I was considering BONA/EXON to score 23 and protect the JOES hook. I decided to shed the Q though since there's only one U left in the bag. The sim sort of likes exchanging, but I dislike that given that'd leave me down more than a bingo after Lawson's next play most likely.
>Lawson_Sue: GINRW 14J WRING +49 255
#note BONA would've stopped this and similar plays, which score a ton and force me to have something right now at the bottom (eliminating the advantage of recursion). This really shook me.
>Chris_Tallman: ?BLNRST K13 ..B +5 162
#note The sim likes burning the blank for 32, but I'd never do that here. I decide to interfere with the triple line scoring spot as much as possible, felt like I needed to over any other priority. Looking grim.
>Lawson_Sue: FOY L4 FOY +23 278
>Chris_Tallman: ?HLNRST N2 NTH +17 179
#note Missed SH/SJOE for 37, which seems worth it, and the H hook HANGRIER/NTH for 6 more and a much better bingo line. I let things (drawing no vowels etc) get to me and made a poor play here.
>Lawson_Sue: EINZ 15G ZINE. +54 332
>Chris_Tallman: ?BEILST 7A LIBaTES +70 249
#note Didn't see BILSTED (78) hooking VAUNTS, tunnelled on the AVAUNT hook. This could work out better if Lawson draws badly as BILSTED doesn't create many new threats (though HANGRIER/NTH last turn would've helped there), and it creates a bingo line through the new E.
>Lawson_Sue: EHPW A4 WHE.P +51 383
>Chris_Tallman: AILMOOP 2H PALOMI.O +64 313
>Chris_Tallman: AEEFNSY (challenge) +5 318
#note Happy to draw this out of the bag and see it, though it doesn't much matter after WHELP.
>Lawson_Sue: ELRU 1G RULE +28 411
>Chris_Tallman: AEEFNSY 6F FEY +32 350
#note I wanted to get rid of both the F and Y and score enough so that a bingo might win. I figured Lawson would block the UPS spot, so wanted to draw something hooking AVAUNTS and ARED, a line he might not see even though I'm giving him perfect knowledge of my rack. I considered FY with ELF/OY under PALOMINO to force him to consider blocking for few points, given if he has tracked properly, he won't need to block after FEY if I don't have a bingo at the top and might outrun by AVAUNTS bingo anyway - but I felt that didn't score enough. I'm unsure what the right thing to do is here.
>Lawson_Sue: DDIIIRS K4 ID +17 428
#note Lawson had tracked correctly and didn't block (he mention he saw SEAWOMEN for me if the W wasn't on the left on the board)
>Chris_Tallman: AEEMNOS O12 MESA +37 387
#note No MOANEES heh.
>Lawson_Sue: DIIRS 10C .....S +20 448
#note Lawson didn't want to play IRIDS in case it wasn't good - he'd have still won even scoring 0 this turn as he's ahead by enough.
>Chris_Tallman: ENO B5 ON.E +19 406
#note Now 2 games behind, my fate is no longer in my hands...
>Chris_Tallman: (DIIR) +10 416
