>Chris_Tallman: BDINORV 8D BOVID +28 28
#note Whangarei Round 8
>Liz_Fagerlund: IOV F6 VI.O +18 18
>Chris_Tallman: ALLNNRR G7 N.RL +12 40
>Liz_Fagerlund: AAA -AAA +0 18
>Chris_Tallman: AELNNQR E7 R.NNEL +18 58
#note Decided to score a bit, generally my philosophy over exchanges (NNQ) when it seems close - sim has the options even. Played this over LONER to (supposedly) not open a protected line to the D in BOVID, didn't think RINE was good...
>Liz_Fagerlund: AEELOR H10 AREOLE +23 41
>Chris_Tallman: AAEINQS 13C QIS +31 89
#note Annoying to waste the S but 31 is worth it over an exchange despite the iffy leave.
>Liz_Fagerlund: AZ G13 ZA +44 85
>Chris_Tallman: AADEFNY I12 FAAN +31 120
#note I don't think I saw DEIFY (39) beside RONNEL - I like it a bit more, despite the sim being close and FAAN setting up ALAY - especially since ALAY would create a hard to block S hook - 8 more points too. I also didn't like using the N since underlaps with QI are likely and now I may not have a good counter on the bottom left triple.
>Liz_Fagerlund: KP 15G P..K +24 109
#note Nice play to make sure the board stays open. I wasn't sure whether BOVIDS was good (it is), so felt things were a bit more in control than they were (also RINE)
>Chris_Tallman: DEIRUXY 14B YID +28 148
#note Sets up XU/YU next turn, though can also give back 40+ if Liz has an N or S. Not really any other options though.
>Liz_Fagerlund: IRY 10G ..IRY +10 119
#note Really liked seeing this play, gives me a great way to block all 3 S hooks, including the unsure one of BOVIDS, and score in the process.
>Chris_Tallman: UX 9I XU +36 184
#note Rack not recorded.
>Liz_Fagerlund: JSU 15A JUS +47 166
#note Not a good scenario but still feel in control of the game.
>Chris_Tallman: BEEIRTW 11J BE +23 207
#note I felt like the WEID spot in the bottom left wasn't going anywhere, so I took the spot under LAIRY first. I don't like this play now though since if Liz opens a hook using my play of BE, I'll have to respond and might not have time to shed my W with WEID. BEWET for 35 was there but I'm not opening the BEWETS hook on the triple line, even with Liz maybe spending her only S with JUS.
>Liz_Fagerlund: ACS L11 SAC +15 181
#note Difficult to block this opening - guessing Liz has the case S.
>Chris_Tallman: EIPRTUW D11 WE.. +25 232
#note Good thing she didn't open a spot for WRITEUP* - didn't really like it though so likely wouldn't have pulled the trigger. Nothing I can do about the BES- spot, so I just score.
>Liz_Fagerlund: ??CFOTU H1 OUTFaCe. +101 282
>Liz_Fagerlund: AEHTW (challenge) +5 287
#note Pretty brutal, give RINE the nickel but figured she knew it when she played it. Moments like this are when you have to keep your composure...
>Chris_Tallman: DIPRRTU 13L .URD +14 246
#note Spent a while recovering and figuring this turn out. I didn't want to shut the top of the board down with IRRUPT (as well as that leaving the ugly DT), so I consideredn PARD/YEP to set up PARDI, but felt like Liz would have a hook too often and that keeping the U hurt my bingo chances. So I decided to go full bingo-or-die with CURD despite it giving back the triple line scoring spot that could outrun my bingoes. Looking bleak at this point.
>Liz_Fagerlund: AEHTW O8 THAWE. +42 329
#note Now I need more than a bingo...
>Chris_Tallman: EGIOPRT 2B PORTIG.E +76 322
>Chris_Tallman: AINNOOT (challenge) +5 327
#note Was considering OPE next to THAWED, but then I decided to look at the floaters at the top again. I'd just studied sub 5000 probability Collins only 8's, and was able to find a bingo I didn't know until a week ago. Really happy I was able to keep my head straight enough to find it.
>Liz_Fagerlund: EHOS N10 HOE.S +52 381
>Chris_Tallman: AINNOOT 6H .ONATION +64 391
>Chris_Tallman: ADEGIMT (challenge) +5 396
#note I saw CONATION right away, and would have considered looking elsewhere or chickening out if Liz hasn't scored so much with HOERS - felt I needed to try it. I missed the underlap spot for NOTATION, which I may have seen if I'd looked longer - but happily CONATION is good and I'm back in the game.
>Liz_Fagerlund: EELT 4H .LEET +16 397
>Chris_Tallman: ADEGIMT D1 G.IMED +24 420
#note I spent most of this time making sure I won against a big X play because I didn't track my play of XU... missed a bunch of plays to the N of CONATION too - was very low on time though. This was intending to go out after with AT/ETA/TAT and block the biggest X plays under PORTIGUE...
>Liz_Fagerlund: AEGIM 3K MAGI +20 417
#note She lays down MAGI and I realize the X is already on the board - but then I also mistracked an A and though she was missing MAGIAN to go out and win, so I really wanted her to hit the clock ASAP .
>Chris_Tallman: AT 5J AT +19 439
#note Considered not playing EAN which I was only 99% on for a second, but just did it. There was another cool spot to go out with THA and BESTOW for 19 too. Stressful one!
