#note Whangarei Round 3
>Lawson_Sue: GIRY 8E GYRI +16 16
>Chris_Tallman: EHNPRST 7H PHT +16 16
#note Looked through the I for a bingo for a while and was debating when to give up and play HYP to keep RENTS. Burned about 5 minutes, then saw PHT and liked its scoring defense and 5 more points over HYP (HYPE/HYPO plays that would also obstruct the I, making the RENTS leave worse). I like the play, but it contributed to my time pressure later on.
>Lawson_Sue: EEINORS J3 SERO.INE +62 78
#note HYP would've stopped his bingoes as it turns out, but one can't be results-oriented. Lucky he missed ERINGOES 2x2 for 86, which is a word Tara and I studied together.
>Chris_Tallman: AENQRSU 4H QU.AN +48 64
#note QUEAN over QUENA to make underlaps a bit harder. Looked another few minutes for bingoes or better plays here.
>Lawson_Sue: BEIN 5E BENI +23 101
>Chris_Tallman: ABEEERS 6D BEE +15 79
#note Quackle slightly likes keeping the B with just EE for 12, which surprises me.
>Lawson_Sue: ALLNW 8J .NWALL +39 140
>Chris_Tallman: AEMORRS 11D ROAMERS +77 156
#note Wasn't 100% on SEROTINES, was happy to not be held. REMORAS was better to not create the hotspots above the A and under the E, but I didn't know it...
>Lawson_Sue: AETX H11 .XEAT +60 200
#note And I'm punished. I tend to study words with multiple anagrams less, but it cost me here.
>Chris_Tallman: ?DFILOO 10C LOOF +32 188
#note Looked for bingoes for at least another 5 minutes. Failed to see FLOODLIT - tough find, but still disappointing to miss. Then I decided to tack the L onto OOF to create the ALOOF hook, which I thought favoured me with my blank, and the KLOOF hook which I wasn't sure Lawson knew (he played it later on so...)
>Lawson_Sue: DLOO L8 .OOLD +18 218
>Chris_Tallman: ?DFIIPS 12B DIF +26 214
#note I don't think I was looking hard for bingoes here, also the time pressure and energy spent looking on previous turns got to me too. FLIPSIDE and 2 other bingoes I didn't know were missed here.
>Lawson_Sue: OZ G11 .OZ +54 272
#note RIF (28) last turn next to EXEAT would've blocked this, but I didn't want to obstruct the lines at the bottom with that, or keep the extra consonant.
>Chris_Tallman: ?AIPSUY I11 .YA +33 247
#note Did not know PLAYSUIT. That's beyond the probability range I was studying; don't feel as bad about that one.
>Lawson_Sue: AGK B8 GAK +40 312
#note LOOF ... oof :P
>Chris_Tallman: ??AIPSU A2 SPIrUlA +83 330
>Chris_Tallman: EHIMNTT (challenge) +5 335
#note Guess I need 2 blanks to find something this game. SPURIAE scores 7 more though.
>Lawson_Sue: DIOV B1 VOID +27 339
>Chris_Tallman: EHIMNTT 3A ..TH +18 353
#note Was ready to put down THINE next to SPIRULA, so his play caused me to spend more time. PITH keeps a good bingo leave, but I should be scoring more with the game so close - PITIETH for 32 is likely best, but I didn't know it - but even HAEM for 31 beside SEROTINE seems better.
>Lawson_Sue: EEJ 7M JEE +39 378
>Chris_Tallman: EIMNT 4A ..EM +30 383
#note Stopped recording racks due to time pressure, sorry - though I've worked out what I had the other turns.
>Lawson_Sue: CDEIRT 1B .ERDICT +42 420
#note Knew it was likely over after this, crushing blow.
>Chris_Tallman: CGINSTV D9 C... +9 392
#note I do remember this rack - I was trying to fish for VETTINGS in the bottom row if I drew an E.
>Lawson_Sue: U 15G U. +2 422
#note Lawson blocks, though scores only 2. I have less than a minute left now.
>Chris_Tallman: AGINSTV 13A VATS +31 423
#note CORFS* is apparently phony - no hold though. I was hoping to draw an out, though I think I need the W to score enough to win. None of that was analysed in-game as I had no time left, just had to hope.
>Lawson_Sue: EINRTUW 9L .WT +30 452
#note Lawson finds the only play that wins.
>Chris_Tallman: AGIN M12 AGIN +13 436
>Chris_Tallman: (EINRU) +10 446
