#note Round 1, Whangarei NZ Giant Round Robin
>Olivia_En: JO J6 JO. +29 29
>Chris_Tallman: ADEHINV K3 DIVAN +29 57
#note Didn't see KHEDIVA, might do that (if I saw it) if I was a big underdog like vs Nigel as it creates a massive protected S hook, not here though.

>Olivia_En: AW G2 AW +20 69
>Chris_Tallman: ADEORTT L6 ROTATED +81 168
#note Always nice to get your first bingo of a tourney down early and take a comfortable lead in the first game. The anagram TROATED is one that I'd studied, being Collins only.
>Olivia_En: EIPW K11 WIPE +31 100
#note Very aggressive move, and unfortunately for me I drew a tough rack and can't do much about the threats this creates. Suddenly I'm a lot less comfortable...
>Chris_Tallman: AAAAEIN M9 AINEE +27 195
#note Thought about AA/AE beside WIPE, given AINEE is a better leave in Collins and it addresses the huge threats, but the leave is hurt due to lack of floating bingo consonants, the equity sacrifice would be over 20, and playing AINEE for 27 puts me up 95, so I'll still be ahead even if Olivia bingoes with a WIPE hook.
>Olivia_En: ANV F2 VAN +34 134
#note Still leaving the WIPE hooks open, either she doesn't have a play there or decided to keep the board dynamic given her deficit. I did enjoy that she played the nickname of my home city of Vancouver :)
>Chris_Tallman: AABEMSU 15H ABUSE +34 229
#note I had a tough choice between playing BUM or burning my S to avoid creating the hook on the triple line. I decided against BUM since the double A's in the AAES leave makes that leave high variance in addition to the potential 80-90 point BUMS bingoes Olivia could respond with, which I don't need to add risk given my lead. I didn't generate the 40 point play SEBUM, and didn't know SAUBA, which I like best since it doesn't open the 14 row bingo line and still keeps the decent EM.
>Olivia_En: LLO 3K .OLL +12 146
>Chris_Tallman: ABEFGMT 14H FAM. +34 263
#note This keeps an ugly BGT combo, but I decided on this over METAGE to avoid creating the high scoring 13 row bingo line. Didn't see FLAMBE in the top right but wouldn't open the triple line for 4 more points anyway.
>Olivia_En: ?DEENST O3 ScENTED +77 223
>Chris_Tallman: ABEGOTU 9F GETA +22 285
#note I wanted to block the easy bingo lines beside VAN and off of FIKY. Quackle much prefers BUTOH in the top left for 27, or another play there like BOGUE. Tough choice because those plays put me up 65-70, meaning I'd be even after a bingo, and keep better leaves, whereas GETA is a bit more committal to hard defense and the L at the top is still open. The board is a bit hard to reopen though, so the defensive play seemed like a good gamble - Olivia will be in trouble if she can't bingo immediately.
>Olivia_En: HOP 10E POH +24 247
>Chris_Tallman: BDEOQUX 11C QUOD +41 326
#note QUOD makes it harder to hit huge Z plays on row 12 that BOX or BOXED might allow.

>Olivia_En: ASZ 3B ZAS +44 303
>Chris_Tallman: BGIILRT 12B GIRT +30 395
#note No BRIG to avoid 3x3's with the blank still out. Still could lose to an L bingo then a QIN/QIS play though, 93% to win according to the sim.
>Olivia_En: UY 13A YU +8 311
>Chris_Tallman: BCIILST 1G C.IT +14 409
#note I was ahead enough to just play BIZ or another scoring play and still win if Olivia bingoes, but decided to block the L as she could have LORINERS, LOWERING etc.
