>David_Weisberg: EEGKOQS 8G KEG +16 16
#note Jumped on this a little too quickly perhaps. Sim prefers exchanging to ES by 4 points. I thought KEG was restrictive enough when Flora doesn't have S that it would be worth it, but my leave is just too poor.
>Flora_Taylor: ABGINR 9F BARING +24 24
>David_Weisberg: EEIOQRS -EOQ +0 16
#note Sim prefers 10E QI 19 by about 5 points over this or exchanging to ERS, but I hated leaving the QI hook there witghout holding an I. EEORS also seemed rather unpromising on this board. Exchanging EOQ turns out to bingo 50% of the time next turn compared to 31% for QI in the sim, though Flora may want to play somewhat more defensively in response to exchanging 3. I'm still fine with my choice.

#note H7 SERRIEDLY for 89 beats the top performing play a human might find, 10A RIDLEYS 92, by 4.5. RIDLEYS opens the 3x3 and might have been a tough call, so I can't honestly say what I might have done, given it could also play for 83 at 10B. At 10B it sims about 2 points under 10A. I also did see 13F HYDRIDES 84 (simming a point behind 10A RIDLEYS), but wasn't sure of it for some reason. My play came in over 6 behind 10A RIDLEYS, but at least it drew a challenge (it took me awhile to find and be confident of).

#note This time Quackle thinks I should keep the Q and play 10C EERIE for 20, but this seems pretty bad to me, needlessly opening the board for a modest score and a weak leave. It suggests H11 EYRIE for 24 to be 0.5 behind, but the leave is even worse and it opens a major new bingo line. I do like its suggestion of 10I EELIER 18, as this keeps things pretty closed. My exchange is rated about 5 points behind EELIER. There's something to be said for keeping up the scoring pressure, but 18-24 is not that much and the Q is a big liability, especially on this board. No regrets.

#note I agonized over this for a few minutes because it's an odd one, but I must have remembered it from somewhere. Flora didn't bat an eye.

#note My old friend is back! After my other draws, I can't complain much though.
>Flora_Taylor: AIN 10D ANI +11 106
>David_Weisberg: ADEEOQZ 11D DOZE +51 255
#note ADOZE for 53 sims 3 points better, but I was doubting it for some reason. I also figured if anything I could likely play 06 QAT 12 next turn and seriously hamper the board.
Note: DOZE was scored as 49 instead of 51.
>Flora_Taylor: FX K5 F.X +26 132
>David_Weisberg: AELOQVV 14D VOLV. +13 268
#note Sim prefes L2 LOVEY 27 over this by 7.5, but this seems to be asking for trouble in a game that's getting close to sealed up. My play also comes in about 3 points behind O3 VOLVATE 14, which seems much more reasonable. I can't remember if I didn't see VOLVATE or wasn't sure of it, but it's what I'd play now. Otherwise, VOLVA is still fine at this score.

#note I could sort of fish here with 10I EEL 13, which the sim likes better by almost 10 points, but I preferred shutting off a line and going for the other blank with the nice ER leave. It being the first game of the tournament, padding on spread seemed less important than preventing longshot wins. In a way this also seemed like the spread play, if it would help me draw the blank while forcing her to open the board. O4 PETITE for 11 sims 2.7 better than my play, but I wanted the board closure to be even tighter.
>Flora_Taylor: INU C5 UNI +16 156
>David_Weisberg: AEEIORW 15H .OWE +10 298
#note Missed C9 URAEI 29 which comes out far ahead of my somewhat paranoid play, as does C11 AWE 27. Given I had been unsure of ADOZE, I suppose my play makes more sense.
>Flora_Taylor: BCENO 5A BO.NCE +20 176
>David_Weisberg: AEGIRRU 6F RUG +10 308
#note C9 URAEI again. URARI sims about 2 points behind it. RUG may be a bigger mistake than it appears because she could get a big -ING six on the H column and follow it with a bingo, though I'd usually be able to block such bingos.

#note C11 ARE 21, because of ADOZE yet again. Otherwise, I missed 10H REAL 17.
Final score recorded as 430-253.
