>Arie_Sinke: FIINQUV 8F QUIN +26 26
#note This looks right.
>Jonathan_Lindh: AEEKORU 7H KUE +17 17
#note I should have gone with F8 QUAKE for 20 which was my first choice but thought it gave too much back because of all its' hooks. KUE is 3rd best.
>Arie_Sinke: FIIIOVY 6J FOY +30 56
#note This is hard to stomach but it does look worth it for the points.
>Jonathan_Lindh: AAEMORT 5K MOA +23 40
>Arie_Sinke: IIILTTV 9H TITI +16 72
#note Surprisingly, I retained IIIV and wasn't forced to exchange next turn. VITA M2 for 14 looks like it's a bit better - the V is very bad here and even an unappealing leave like IILT is better than something with the V, according to the sim - I'm unconvinced.
>Jonathan_Lindh: ADEORTX 8K OXTER +62 102
>Arie_Sinke: AEEGILV 10F VIE +22 94
#note Missing GOY right about now. VIE is probably about the best I can do - it's pretty close with GLAIVE in the same spot but realistically VIE has got to be a bit better.
>Jonathan_Lindh: AABDIIR 4L BARD +36 138
>Arie_Sinke: AEEFGLN O1 FLE.GE +33 127
#note This looks right.
>Jonathan_Lindh: AGIISTT 7M IT +8 146
>Arie_Sinke: AHHMOPT N7 ..MP +14 141
#note Spent a while on this play - not really sure what to do. It would appear that Jon is on the verge of bingoing, and I am not in a remotely comparable spot. I don't really expect him to take out the TEMP hooks due to the awkwardness of putting IOST in position 6, so I'm hoping that he bingos elsewhere and that I can score a few points in that part of the board. The problem is that TEMP is a very hookable word and AHHOT isn't that great a leave. TETH in the same spot scores an extra point, sets up less, blocks about as much, and gives me better scoring tiles overall for my next play, whereas the only good thing about TEMP is that I create hooks for myself that I will occasionally use. This position is tough because every option scores little and leaves a relatively awkward leave and it's hard to find a standout play, but TETH looks pretty good. This is a substantial error.
>Jonathan_Lindh: AGINNST 6B ANTINGS +71 217
>Arie_Sinke: ACHHIOT D4 HA.CH +34 175
#note My play has the advantage of setting up THATCH with the case T, which helps it stand out from the other similar options a bit. I'm down, so a board forking play is helpful (unlike something like CHIAO 5A for 33, which is a great equity play but makes comebacks more difficult). I am not totally convinced that my play is better than HOTCH in the same spot - THATCH is nice to set up but IOT is a huge sacrifice in leave compared to AIT, and I need to bingo to get back in the game. I think CHIAO may still be better than my play despite what it does to the board. I think I like having RANTINGS open despite not holding an R.
>Jonathan_Lindh: ABERSVW A5 BRAVE +39 256
#note A4 VERBS for 51 is about 4 points better here. Would have played it if I saw it but a pretty minor mistake. I also was only 70% sure of RANTINGS.
>Arie_Sinke: EILOORT O10 ORIOLE +25 200
#note I chose this over OOLITE to keep the T for THATCH. The sim likes it a lot. Opening up the southeast is just what I need here.
>Jonathan_Lindh: DISSUWW -DIUWW +0 256
#note Good time to trade 5 with both blanks unseen.
>Arie_Sinke: AALOORT 3A AORTAL +26 226
#note Here I take as many points as I can and try hard to draw a blank. This is surely best.
>Jonathan_Lindh: ?ANORSS C8 SeNORAS +67 323
#note I need to see STARNOSE and if I don't see that, at least see C8 SOVRANS or SARONGS for 69.
>Arie_Sinke: ?DEILOS 2E kELOIDS +68 294
#note Here I need things to go very well for me for me to win, as I will be behind by 29 after this play or a similar margin after other bingos. My best odds are if I score 80 with mELODISE 15H. I missed that because I was too fixated on trying to figure out which of the obvious 68-72 point bingos gave me the best chance of winning. I decided that leaving the bottom part of the board alone to draw a bingo in next turn would be my best hope, which probably isn't even true, and overlooked my clearly better play of mELODISE.
>Jonathan_Lindh: DEENUWY 1F DEW +42 365
#note Seems fine.
>Arie_Sinke: ACDEGWZ B11 GAZED +52 346
#note Miracle wins seem implausible - this is good for spread.
>Jonathan_Lindh: EEJNPUY N13 YEP +29 394
#note Sadly, no GOY.
>Arie_Sinke: CINUW B2 C.W +16 362
#note CUIF 1L for 12 is my best endgame play to threated to go out with WARN 12A; this is 7 points back.
>Jonathan_Lindh: EJNU 12A J.. +18 412
#note I did not see 15L JUPE for 21. My play is 2nd and 5 points back. Final score recorded as 410-376. I played this game fairly well. This is the first division 1 tournament I won outside of the Chicago area. Next on my bucket list, a MULTI-DAY Division 1 win.
