>Eric_Harshbarger: CIKY 8G ICKY +26 26
>Arie_Sinke: ELMRSUU F6 LUM +23 23
#note Best. This game was an odd throwback to round 1 of this tournament, in which I opened with ICKY and Sid got the M front hook. Incorrectly scored as 22.
>Eric_Harshbarger: CIIV 6B CIVI. +16 42
>Arie_Sinke: EENRSTU D6 .ENTURES +74 97
#note Best bingo.
>Eric_Harshbarger: EJO 8A JEO. +33 75
>Arie_Sinke: OORSTWY 11B WO.RY +22 119
#note I thought YOW C12 was far too hookable to be the best play. Quackle disagrees and likes that play a lot. I would have a hard time going for YOW, but I can understand plays like TOWY C12 for 26 and YOWS 13A for 20 being better than my play - they're clearly better static equity plays and the opening they create with the Y isn't that big a deal.
>Eric_Harshbarger: ?EPRRTU H8 .aPTURER +86 161
>Arie_Sinke: AIOOSTX 9A OX +27 146
#note I didn't want to play OXO C13 for 24 for the easy counterplays it sets up. It's correct to eschew OXO but I think I flat out missed POX 10H, which plays the same two tiles for one more point.
>Eric_Harshbarger: AFI B11 .AIF +20 181
>Arie_Sinke: AIIOSTW 14E OWI. +15 161
#note This is best by far.
>Eric_Harshbarger: ILNO A12 LOIN +25 206
>Arie_Sinke: ?AEIOST 5E OAkIEST +84 245
#note This and OAtIEST are my only 84 point bingos. I incorrectly scored this play as 78, which would have the effect of making the endgame more interesting.
>Eric_Harshbarger: ADEGINR 4H GRAINED +83 289
>Arie_Sinke: EEEHNSU 6I EH +30 275
#note This play is probably fine, but I should be taking UNDEE/ENDUE N2 for 16 into consideration - huge point sacrifice but I keep a much better leave and I introduce some volatility to column O - with a deficit to make up volatility is probably my friend here. I do think the 14 points are a bit too much to give up.
>Eric_Harshbarger: TZ G7 T.Z +46 335
>Arie_Sinke: AEENOSU 13H .OUE +5 280
#note All of my options are unappealing here. This at least keeps a good leave and sets up a spot for sevens ending in S. It will probably get blocked soon but at least it keeps the board alive in the short term.
>Eric_Harshbarger: ABHL 3J BLAH +42 377
>Arie_Sinke: ABEEGNS N4 .EBAG +15 295
#note I thought I needed to be very aggressive about introducing volatility into the game here. I noted that there was only one I and one O unseen to me. If Eric doesn't have either of them it may be hard for him to obstruct column O effectively. Quackle doesn't see the merit of this play, but I still like it.
>Eric_Harshbarger: AQST 9K QATS +24 401
>Arie_Sinke: EEILNST 15H .EENLIST +77 372
#note Still not looking super hopeful - but this endgame is going to be very unusual.
>Eric_Harshbarger: MV 12G V.M +12 413
>Arie_Sinke: AAADEGO O6 ADO +28 400
#note This endgame is technically unwinnable for me - after my play, Eric can block my setup with PED M5, scoring 22 and forcing me to go out in two. Trying to play out slowly actually doesn't favor me, as Eric will score points with his consonants and unload value heavy tiles from his rack - my best option is to try to go out in two with AGA 2H, forcing Eric to block ODEA, which leaves me with a lower scoring ODEA at 12K to go out and lose by 6. My play works because I force Eric to realize that I have an out and block it. If he doesn't block AGATE he loses. I thought I was down by 7 points more than I actually was, and somehow this still worked.
