>Andrew_Wade: AHIRY 8H HAIRY +30 30
>ken_Rubin: EEIIOOZ K3 OOZIE. +30 30
#note I wanted an open board against Andrew which is why I preferred K3 OOZIER to 7I ZOO
>Andrew_Wade: EVW 6J V.EW +18 48
>ken_Rubin: ADEEEIT L1 EIDE +19 49
>Andrew_Wade: LOP 7G LOP +21 69
>ken_Rubin: ?AAENOT 6F TAO +13 62
#note This was a bad play. 9F AEON is much better for three reasons I can see: 1) It scores 5 more points; 2) It leaves a better consonant-vowel ratio; 3) It leaves the board more open to me next turn for a bingo
>Andrew_Wade: MM J2 MM +18 87
>ken_Rubin: ?AAEINN M5 A.N +7 69
#note This wasn't a good play. For what I was trying to do, 9L AN (8 points) is better because it opens the board more. Quackle says 2M NE (20 points) is best)
>Andrew_Wade: AENRSS N1 SNARES +31 118
>ken_Rubin: ?AEGINX 9L AX +22 91
>Andrew_Wade: ABEU 5C BEAU +14 132
>ken_Rubin: ?BEEGIN N8 rEBEGIN +90 181
>Andrew_Wade: CLU D2 CLU. +12 144
>ken_Rubin: AEGKNOO 3B KA.ONG +26 207
#note Throughout this tournament I was biased towards playing 6 letter words. Sometimes it was the right play, but many other times it wasn't. Against a lower-rated player, KALONG has the benefit that it may bring a challenge, and if not, indecision about whether it takes an S. But M1 OAK is clearly the superior play and shouldn't be that hard to find. Quackle says the best play is M1 OAKEN which makes sense because it scores 6 more points and blocks S-hook bingos on the 15 line with REBEGIN. With 1 blank and 2 S's unseen, this is something to worry about.
>Andrew_Wade: FT 13M F.T +12 156
>ken_Rubin: ?AEEEOT O13 .OE +11 218
#note Although I didn't block the 15 line on the last turn, I am still concerned about the possibility that Andrew bingoes here. This could be a 90 point play with no clear comeback, and it's not something I want to happen, even though presumably I could hit my own bingo in the same spot with my blank. If the game were neutral or if I were down, I would probably have kept this bingo line open, keeping the blank. However, with no truly compelling option away from this area, I think it's fine to block with 13O TEE or TOE (what I chose). Quackle says 1O OE for 14 points is best
>Andrew_Wade: IN B1 IN. +14 170
>ken_Rubin: ?AEEPTY 1K Y.A.T +24 242
#note I didn't consider it at the time, but Andrew could easily have been setting up QI/QI at A1 for 68 points. If I had seen that possibility, I might have played 1A PE for 26 points. Quackle prefers 10J YEP for 24 points -- which actually does make sense to me for a few reasons: 1) It scores decently; 2) The leave (AET?) is strong for bingoing on an upcoming turn; 3) If I am indeed concerned about 1A QI, I am creating a high-scoring bingo combeack possibility for myself on the 11 line; 4) Although I am opening a bingo line for Andrew, I hold the last blank, and the tile pool is a bit clunky--decreasing the likelihood he will have a bingo; 5) If Andrew bingoes, the board will not be completely closed, and I will have a chance for a comeback bingo; 6) If Andrew has QI/QI, he would also have 6B QI for 35 points--making the upside of blocking at 1A lesser.
>Andrew_Wade: Q 1A Q. +33 203
>ken_Rubin: ?EEEIOP -EEIO +0 242
#note Quackle likes 6A PEE or 11K EPEE
>Andrew_Wade: DILTT 11J TILT.D +14 217
>ken_Rubin: ?ENPSUV H1 PUS +27 269
>Andrew_Wade: RR C5 .RR +6 223
>ken_Rubin: ?EGINVW 10I VIG +16 285
>Andrew_Wade: HIRS 8A SHRI +30 253
>ken_Rubin: ?DEINUW A4 UNWI.hED +62 347
#note Quackle likes B8 HEW -- I think because it blocks a lot of the bingos that Andrew could hit through the S and H, while leaving open the N hook for me next turn to bingo.

I like 4A UNWISHED because it forces a binary outcome to the game: either Andrew bingos on the D line with IDOLATER or IDOLATOR and wins, or I win. Also UNWISHED blocks vertical bingoes he might have hit through the A and B lines.
>Andrew_Wade: ADEFJOT - +0 253
#note Lost challenge
>ken_Rubin: ADEFJ B10 FA +29 376
#note I messed up the endgame. I should have played 7E JALOP or 7C RAJ to avoid getting stuck with the J.
>Andrew_Wade: CELOORT 12B TOOL +14 267
>ken_Rubin: DEJ O8 ED +24 400
#note Why didn't I just play D11 JO? This is very not good.
>Andrew_Wade: CER D11 C.RE +6 273
