#player2 Joe Joe
>Carl: FILNOOZ 8D FOLIO +24 24
>Joe: AACDE D8 .ACADE +24 24
>Carl: ADIINOZ C11 ZIN +42 66
#note I couldn't decide between this, ZOA, or DIAZO C11, all three of which sim roughly evenly. I altogether missed sim-winner OZALID F5. (-2)
>Joe: AGMORU F7 G.AMOUR +16 40
>Carl: ?ADIOTU I5 OUTsAID +67 133
#note I really wanted to play the flashy (C)O(M)ATUlID, but conceded that OUTsAID was better. COMATULID might draw a challenge, but it doesn't seem likely. In the event Joe doesn't know the word already (he just might), he'll have no idea whether it's a word, and with other options like OUTsAID available, he'll see that there was no reason for me to phony. On the other hand, I smell like a wounded gazelle, and that selfsame odor of death that repels women also attracts challenges. So maybe I'm supposed to do COMATULID exploitatively, announcing the score in a wheezy, anemic kind of voice, with the hint of a question mark at the end.
>Joe: EEILT H11 ELITE +21 61
>Carl: BDENRVW 5H V.WED +24 157
#note BROWNED 5G wins the sim, followed by just BROWN. (-3)
>Joe: HOY B12 HOY +28 89
>Carl: ABGNNRT 15A BANG +37 194
#note I missed GAZABO 11A, but my play narrowly outsims it.
>Joe: BEER 4K BEER +22 111
>Carl: FNPRTTT 9B TR.P.N +17 211
#note Very satisfying-- it cleans up the rack, blocks column A, and looks spiffy too.
>Joe: HORS O1 RHOS +32 143
>Carl: AAEFSTT I13 FAT +23 234
#note This would otherwise be a fine play, but I missed N2 STRAFE. (-7)
>Joe: IQTU B6 QUI. +33 176
>Carl: AELNOST 3J LOTA +21 255
#note Missing ENROL N2, which would have been great for board control. (-7)
>Joe: ADEIMRS C1 SEDARIM +94 270
>Carl: ?EENOSW N4 .EENdOWS +70 325
#note I spent forever looking for better bingos, but astonishingly, this is the only one. Quackle says I should have spent even more time looking for non-bingos, of which several are better, including OWES D3 (41), and OWSEN 1A, which is good for defense. (-8)
>Joe: EIKNRST 1C .TINKERS +89 359
>Carl: ACEGLNX O8 EX +39 364
#note This turns out to be an *extremely* difficult endgame. Any of several candidate plays result in an delicate out-in-three for both players, where the winning player often has exactly one winning move.
>Joe: EIIJPUV 4C .JI +20 379
#note In this scenario, Joe's only winning move is UPDIVE 3A. I'll get CLUNG A1, but I can't block AJI 9I/JIN 7L. Whatever tile is in the bag, and whether I play EX or some other move, something at least this cool this usually transpires. You could spend hours calculating the endgame possibilities after STINKERS, and I hope you do. I wrote some of them here, but then removed them; try to figure them out on your own.
>Carl: ACGLNY G3 CLAN +22 386
#note 14H TANG nets me one extra point, setting up CLAY, TANGA.
>Joe: EIPUV 7K VEI. +8 387
>Carl: GY 11H ..GY +18 404
>Carl: (PU) +8 412
