>Mark_Garrod: IJNOT 8D JOINT +40 40
>Arie_Sinke: ABEINUX 7F BEAUX +25 25
#note I preferred this over the alternatives (AUXIN, XU) and Quackle seems to concur.
>Mark_Garrod: AHMT 6I MATH +26 66
>Arie_Sinke: EINQWYZ 5E WINZE +39 64
#note Looks best; YEZ 5H scores the same but I want to turn over a few more tiles to give myself a better chance of getting rid of the Q.
>Mark_Garrod: DFOR 9C FORD +29 95
>Arie_Sinke: CEEQTVY 10B VET +29 93
#note Tough turn. I almost played VETCH L2 but was scared off by the K hook; Quackle also doesn't like that play. The two top simming options are VEE 10B for the same score and CHEVY L5 for 20. Both of those plays retain the T - I have a pretty good chance of drawing an A for QAT by keeping the T. I did not consider that. This is a clear error but a small one.
>Mark_Garrod: CFIL L2 FILC. +26 121
>Arie_Sinke: ?CDEQWY -QWY +0 93
#note I thought with the blank the value of better leaves relative to immediate score would go up. Quackle puts exchanging within a point of two plays that attempt to play through the Q situation - M1 WED for 25 and 4C WYE for 23. It kind of comes down to arbitrary preference in situations like this.
>Mark_Garrod: AEGM 4D GAME +25 146
>Arie_Sinke: ?CDDEHN 3J CH.D +20 113
#note Looks right.
>Mark_Garrod: APP 3E PAP +31 177
>Arie_Sinke: ?ADEKNY 11C NAKEDlY +95 208
#note Only bingo.
>Mark_Garrod: BIRU E11 .RUBI +11 188
>Arie_Sinke: EEGINOY H11 .YING +36 244
#note Bad play - this is probably the moment when this game totally goes off the rails. I vastly overestimated the importance of blocking the openings Mark had just created with KRUBI and underestimated the negative value of EEO as a leave. I also didn't see EYEING 8J - but even missing that, EYEING at N1, which I did see, is far better than this.
>Mark_Garrod: ?AINOTU 10I OUTgAIN +65 253
>Arie_Sinke: AEEEIOO O7 AEO. +12 256
#note For the second consecutive turn, I underestimate the negative value of a vowel-only leave while overestimating the significance of single-turn defensive considerations. Quackle says exchanging six tiles to the E is significantly better. I kind of knew when I was playing this that it was wrong, but just couldn't stop myself.
>Mark_Garrod: DEL 8J ELD +16 269
>Arie_Sinke: EEEIINO 4K E.OIN +14 270
#note This time exchanging isn't worth it. There's a better play than this, though - DOgIE L8 for 10 keeps my only consonant at an expense of only 4 points. I am kind of "on tilt" at this point and also a bit low on time, and Mark is even lower on time, and I played fast in order to preserve my own time and put some pressure on him, but I should have looked for long enough to find DOgIE.
>Mark_Garrod: ELRRSVW O1 SEW. +21 290
>Arie_Sinke: EEILORT 15A TELO. +18 288
#note This is okay, but there are a few better options. ROE and ROTE 2F score a bit more, and the opening they create on column A is almost meaningless with no scoring tiles unseen except for the Q and the V. EL 7L will bingo more often than my play while scoring about the same.
>Mark_Garrod: AQST 6B QATS +42 332
>Arie_Sinke: EEIORRR J1 RE. +7 295
#note I thought I needed to create an additional line in order to give myself a chance - Mark can easily block anything I draw though the ING in lYING and I need to create another line as a "distraction." I literally can't possibly draw anything through the R and the only thing I could possibly get in the southeast is GROOVIER - even if I draw that, no matter what I leave in the bag I won't threaten anything to the R, so my play always loses with optimal play by both sides. I could probably give myself a chance by playing ROC in the same spot - I could get GRIEVERS or GREASIER from the RIVIERES through the I, and under the right circumstances Mark might be better off blocking the R than the ING. No other play seems to offer as much hope as ROC.
>Mark_Garrod: GILORSV M9 S.LVO +18 350
>Arie_Sinke: AEIORRR 1F ERRO. +15 310
#note Bad play; didn't realize that it would be worth it for Mark to block my highest scoring out. Something like RIA 7A is about 15 points better.
>Mark_Garrod: GISU 7A SIG +22 372
>Arie_Sinke: AIR N13 RIA +8 318
#note I can go out for more points with SALVOR plays.
>Arie_Sinke: (U) +2 320
