#player2 Trenton_Charlson Trenton Charlson
>Arie_Sinke: AFIJTTZ 8G FIZ +30 30
#note FIZ wins a sim by a narrow margin against TAJ. I find that F?Z openings can be annoying to respond to as the player going second.
>Trenton_Charlson: EENUV 9C VENUE +19 19
>Arie_Sinke: AEJSTTT D8 J.TES +40 70
#note I thought long and hard about playing TAJ B8 for 35, and I instinctively wanted to play it, but I convinced myself to defy my instinct and play JETES for points and defense. Quackle thinks TAJ is a substantially better play despite creating scoring threats on column A. I may be overestimating the significance of the A column threats and underestimating the value of the ESTT leave with a few good floaters that are likely to stay open for another turn.
>Trenton_Charlson: HOW E11 HOW +30 49
>Arie_Sinke: APPTTVX B8 PAX +37 107
#note Best, have to do this for the points.
>Trenton_Charlson: EORW E5 REWO. +25 74
>Arie_Sinke: ELNPTTV 10F PENT +28 135
#note I prefered PENT to PELT because of the HOWL hook; Quackle seems to concur. No other plays are comparable.
>Trenton_Charlson: GGI 8G ...GIG +22 96
>Arie_Sinke: EIIILTV 14B VEIL +24 159
#note I thought I was missing something here, and I was - RILIEVI 5E for 20 is best by far. I also thought that something like VEIL would be better than ZITI I8 for 14, and Quackle thinks I'm wrong. This may be the second time this game that I've overvalued immediate points and undervalued more developed leaves (also on the JETES/TAJ turn.)
>Trenton_Charlson: BDEEM D2 EMBED +25 121
>Arie_Sinke: BFIOTTY H10 .OTIFY +39 198
#note Best by far.
>Trenton_Charlson: MT C13 M.T +10 131
>Arie_Sinke: ?ABIKOR G13 KOB +37 235
#note Looked in vain for bingos, this is best.
>Trenton_Charlson: ?EGILNT M8 sINGLET +86 217
>Arie_Sinke: ?AAEIRS 3C A.IRAtES +72 307
#note I think this is my best bingo; the only other 72 point option (AMbARIES, which I saw) gives back higher scoring counterplays at H1.
>Trenton_Charlson: UU 12L U.U +6 223
>Arie_Sinke: ACDIILR 4H ILIAC +22 329
#note Tough position. I'm trying to play in a way that averts disastrous outcomes. I liked ILIAC because Trenton would probably have to bingo twice to beat me, and ILIAC makes bingos in the northeast quadrant extremely unlikely, as well as taking out 2x2s through the I in FIZGIG. I can't obstruct ULUS without making an unacceptable equity sacrifice (DICTA partially blocks but blocking in the top half of the board is more meaningful) so I have to wait until I get an opportunity to block that profitably (drawing an S would be nice.) There are also a few sevens ending with an O that Trenton could potentially have on column A. ILIAC does well in the sim, but ILIAD does better - not sure why and not sure I trust it. I don't care for some of the other top options the sim generates.
>Trenton_Charlson: ACEINNO B13 O.A +12 235
>Arie_Sinke: ADEORRY F5 RYE +37 366
#note I score enough with this to outrun any single bingo with ULUS pretty consistently, even if it has a Q in it. This seems better than some ineffective block that gives up equity.
>Trenton_Charlson: QS 15A Q..S +45 280
>Arie_Sinke: ADDNORT A4 ANDRO +33 399
#note This looks a tiny bit better than TARDO with two Ns and no Ts unseen.
>Trenton_Charlson: AL F1 LA. +5 285
>Arie_Sinke: ADDENRT 13M .ND +6 405
#note I thought this blocked enough bingos for it to be worth it (Trenton is likely to have better than average tiles after fishing.)
>Trenton_Charlson: U 10M .U +4 289
>Arie_Sinke: ADEHORT 1F .OATHED +39 444
#note I can't prevent Trenton from bingoing out - might as well take the points. He lost 10 points on time.
>Trenton_Charlson: ACINORS O4 RACINOS +83 372
>Trenton_Charlson: (R) +2 374
