#player1 Eric_Goldstein Eric Goldstein
#player2 Zach_Ansell Zach Ansell
>Eric_Goldstein: GIW 8G WIG +14 14
#note 3 players all at 4-1 so far at this 7-game tourney, me, Eric Goldstein, and Edwin Roth. Worth noting that Eric set to play Ed next round and I have by far the higher spread. I've psyched myself out a bit because I watched Eric do really well on some streamed games at Kingston 2023 a week or two before and he's the #1 seed here. Time to get extremely lucky again, though this time I'll need it.
>Zach_Ansell: ADEEIOV 9C VIDEO +20 20
#note I really don't know what to do in openings like this. Quackle says about even between VIDEO and VOE, and pretty interchangeable above or below, so i think its fine. Didnt see VIDEO 7D, which is a miss.
>Eric_Goldstein: MO 10E OM +23 37
#note MO seems pretty obviously better, but idk what the rest of his rack was
>Zach_Ansell: AEELRTY 11E LEY +25 45
>Eric_Goldstein: FGRSU 12A FRUGS +31 68
>Zach_Ansell: AADEERT 12G AERATED +73 118
>Eric_Goldstein: AIORX 13K IXORA +41 109
>Zach_Ansell: ?DEMOUU B10 DU.UM +24 142
#note Between M(A)UD, DU(R)UM, and (F)UME here. I really hate Us, so DU(R)UM looked good to me, but some really dangerous stuff. Sim prefers M(A)UD by 5%.
>Eric_Goldstein: BCR O12 C.RB +33 142
#note Saw ALDI(CARB) possibility immediately, Eric saw it too but opportunity never arose.
>Zach_Ansell: ?ABEEIO A7 OBIA +21 163
#note this play felt really bad to me fsr, maybe just because of the rack, maybe cause DU(R)UM felt like it shouldve bingoed a lot, but ignoring that OBIA is correct.
>Eric_Goldstein: DHINOPS B1 DONSHIP +84 226
#note Didn't know it, but I do know a lot of leadership positions take -SHIP, and I'm not going to challenge someone like Eric who has a really impressive vocabulary.
>Zach_Ansell: ?EEJPTW D6 EEJ.T +25 188
#note EW or EWE definitely better, I think I'm too stuck on the rack having deteriorated from bingoable to bad and trying too hard to get it back. Oh well, at least I get bailed out by luck.
>Eric_Goldstein: AEO 1A O.EA +18 244
#note could definitely have ended up worse for me
>Zach_Ansell: ?AEINPW J4 WINEsAP +76 264
#note the draw Kreygasm. Saw PINWAlE reasonably quick, but took me another few minutes to remember WINEsAP.
>Eric_Goldstein: AETZ K3 ZETA +37 281
>Zach_Ansell: CENNQTT E4 CENT +16 280
#note ZETA really worried me because of the parallel scoring potential that I didn't have. This fishes for QAT if he doesn't have an A, or (C)INQ if I pull an I.
>Eric_Goldstein: HI A14 HI +22 303
#note signals to me that he's got good tiles but no S or blank, or at most one of them, which is a relief, plus lucky that he didnt have an A.
>Zach_Ansell: AGILNQT L2 QAT +47 327
#note luckbox draw
>Eric_Goldstein: EUY 2L .UEY +32 335
>Zach_Ansell: ?GILNST M1 T.SsLING +98 425
#note even luckier draw somehow. Was debating L(U)GS or bingo until I found T(U)SsLING after a f Tew mins which just put the game away.
>Eric_Goldstein: FINORRV N5 OF +28 363
#note S was last tile apparently, so not sure about this play for him, especially since spread def mattered for his tourney placement, but he can't've been in the best mindset after I pull the luckiest tiles out of my ass to win this.
>Zach_Ansell: AEKLLNO 14G KNOLL +14 439
>Eric_Goldstein: INRRSV O6 SRI +15 378
>Zach_Ansell: AE O1 A.E +18 457
>Zach_Ansell: (NRV) +12 469
#note I think I played the game well overall, besides EEJIT and maybe DURUM, but Eric is definitely a stronger player and I got repeatedly bailed out mid-late game getting the right tiles i needed.
