#note 5 game match, jan 30th 2023, round 1. all annotations for both sides by Jackson

#note debated GECKO vs. CRAKE vs. CORKAGE vs. CORKER for a while. I felt like CORKAGE might win a sim, but felt it opened one big spot and left me nothing in return - however the better leave and 6 points straight up does take care of a lot of that, plus I could draw an S for QATS plays (or he could have those instead too). Q sim thinks the diff in our average scores is only slightly bigger after CORKAGE, so I should play that. seems like a definite mistake, and even if his range is slightly better than avg with KHI it's not by a ton
>Josh_Sokol-Rubenstein: ABFINRR 4E BARFI +17 98
#note FER is also reasonable here, wins a sim by a point
>Jackson_Smylie: ?AEEERR J6 .EE +12 81
#note bad miss - flat out missed EAGERER, and saw BEREAVER but thought it was phony. also Q says this is slightly too big a sacrifice over just REE 5D - the idea was to block some QATS scoring plays and try and hit the E column double double occasionally when it stays open, and JEE does bingo the most, but REE bingoes almost as much and doesn't really affect his average score by much. bad turn from a bad man
>Josh_Sokol-Rubenstein: DGNRSUY 5A DUNGY +34 132
#note bold, I might play UNDY for fear of the 3x3 after JEE, but it is a fair sacrifice
>Jackson_Smylie: ?ADERRU C2 gRA.DEUR +70 151
#note wasnt positive of ADJURER for 1 more point, but I probably play this anyways. I didnt consider the G for some reason, GUARDERS/GRANDEUR look slightly better.

>Jackson_Smylie: AAELMTY 14D MAYA +38 296
#note MAYA or MAY - MAYA makes a better lane immediately, but also may let him block it more easily, while the A improves the leave standardly plus keeps it for the L column. I think it's close
>Josh_Sokol-Rubenstein: ILLPSVZ 13G VILL +22 354
>Jackson_Smylie: EEEILST 12I EELIEST +70 366
#note leaving 5 in the bag, I was worried about STEELIE/QIS cause 8L plays would leave 2 in the bag and make my life difficult unless I draw a miracle bingo. EELIEST seemed to complicate his position, maybe encouraging him to leave 1 in the bag since most plays through the EST take 4 tiles. I think this is correct, but open to ideas
>Josh_Sokol-Rubenstein: NOPSSTZ M9 ZON.S +48 402
#note interesting play - he considered (E)STOP as well, which looks good at first, but O9 plays block it completely, and there are a ton of plays like that available so I seem to usually have one. ZONES is nice cause immediate OZONES plays empty the bag and don't always leave me with an outplay, so Josh can often beat those. ZONES does leave the T open for bingoes, which isn't a big worry, just happens 7% of the time, but I can also make plays like the one I did that make his position tougher. Q also comes up with POST/GECKOS, which is sick to set up Z?PS plays. It does let me bingo slightly more, 10%, but I feel like that might be the best play here - even an OF or IF play scores 32, putting me up 19, then Josh has 7 tiles to my 6 in the endgame, and I think he can usually win those with an out in two, since the Z scores so well.
>Jackson_Smylie: AEFILOU N10 FU.ILE +51 417
#note this wins 5/8, I lose if I draw one of the vowels or if I draw the P, cause he gets BESTING. Dont see anything else that wins as much
