>Jackson_Smylie: DEGIKRT H4 KITED +30 30
>Josh_Sokol-Rubenstein: AGINPWW I7 WAW +29 29
#note felt this limited overlaps and bingo more than placing it on the other side. I guess the issue is that if those overlaps happen, I'm in a worse spot. #questionable
>Jackson_Smylie: EEEGRRY J5 GREYER +32 62
>Josh_Sokol-Rubenstein: GINOOPR 5D POGO.N. +22 51
#note the worse spot I was worried about. I did not see much of anything here, missing OK and GOPI(K). POO G3 is standard, but really allows Jackson to clamp down on the position a lot of the time. GOOP instead leads to some bad case scenarios as well. Both of those plays force me to make unideally volatile opening plays a lot next turn. But the equity is a lot to give up. I like GOPI(K) in hindsight, although again this seems harder to crack for Jackson than GOPI(K) is, all with the nicer and more defensive overlaps. #questionable
>Jackson_Smylie: DEEEIOO F5 .OODIE +12 74
#note totally missed EPODE here, that looks a bit better. OGEE is also worth considering.
>Josh_Sokol-Rubenstein: EEINRSU D5 .ENURIES +72 123
#note really lucky timing again. Considered RESU(P)INE in hindsight since it interfered with S(KITED) but nah. Gotta leave that lane and not give the easy spots for 2 points.
>Jackson_Smylie: EEGNORY C10 OYER +23 97
>Josh_Sokol-Rubenstein: BDNNOTV 8A OBT.N. +27 150
>Jackson_Smylie: AEEGNOP B10 PE +27 124
>Josh_Sokol-Rubenstein: ?ADLQTV I3 VA. +16 166
#note thought my lead was just large enough and the board dead enough after this that I was comfortable blocking SKITED and leaving junk. Could be swayed to just exchange, as Jackson might take this opportunity to make a hard to deal with opening next turn, if indeed my lead is just large enough for Jackson to start to take somewhat more desperate measures #questionable
>Jackson_Smylie: AEGLMNO 8H ...LONG +13 137
#note saw E4 LOGON but not GNOMON, which I might have played here. MOO/OKA is also okay - surely doesn't bingo a ton (maybe 20%), but he doesn't always play super defensively. DAYLONG is the thematic play and I think it's okay, but playing the waiting game here is fine. I liked this timing to open the board, cause I figured VAN could easily be a big sacrifice to close the S hook, so he doesn't have an S and has a fairly random range
>Josh_Sokol-Rubenstein: ?DILNQT -DLQ +0 166
#note I did realize that ILNQT? is not too shabby here, so (EYE)D was an option. But if Jackson bingos, I might be in big trouble keeping my Q again. I only hit QUILTIN(G) or 7s if he opens.
>Jackson_Smylie: AEEIIMO N5 IMA.O +14 151
#note whiffed on IMAGE here until right after I hit my clock - this is the case O, not like that matters much, but EIO is slightly nicer cause of it, and I immediately regretted not seeing IMAGE. however, in a sim, IMAGO seems to bingo slighly more often anyways, in part cause the O column lane is made better by slotting the O instead of the E. I guess this isn't a mistake technically, but it definitely felt like the moment the tournament slipped away
>Josh_Sokol-Rubenstein: ?EILNST O1 uTENSIL +79 245
>Jackson_Smylie: DEEHIMR 2J HERMI. +38 189
#note ...mostly because I "would have had" HEIRDOM in both spots on the O column had I kept EIO and drawn DHMR
>Josh_Sokol-Rubenstein: BCELTUZ 1G ZEBU +50 295
#note really considered sacrificing 17 points to play CLUB, but things get murky if he bingos right after that. Feel like this outruns 1 bingo really well. #questionable
>Jackson_Smylie: ADEITUV 2F VAT +27 216
#note close with DIVA. DIVA bingoes immediately slightly more, but lets him score at 1a plus block the marginal A column lane, which could come in handy later. I think VAT is fine
>Josh_Sokol-Rubenstein: ACLNSTX L4 CLAX.N +30 325
#note he has row 14 to work with always, so again opting for the outrunning route instead of playing something like (R)ANTS 10J to block the O column.
>Jackson_Smylie: CDEFFIU - +0 216
#note hard to imagine winning here, and I was only ~80% sure of CLAXON, so I challenged
>Josh_Sokol-Rubenstein: AHJSSTT 10L SASH +36 361
#note this was dumb. What is he really going to do if I play JA(B)? I guess something like ARC or ADD B13 is possible and then I don't draw a vowel, but then he probably has huge vowel overload. He may still have something I'm blocking, but doubt it since he took a while to hold. #questionable
>Jackson_Smylie: CDEFFIU O10 .UFFED +60 276
#note challenging worked out quite well
>Josh_Sokol-Rubenstein: ?DJLTTU 14N D. +6 367
#note chickened out of JUsTL(E) here, which is really sad, but this Q sticks at least. Too lazy to math it out but this might end up better than JUsTLE. I get Q-stuck myself 2/9 after that.
>Jackson_Smylie: ACIIIQR 6B IC. +7 283
>Josh_Sokol-Rubenstein: ?AJLTTU B5 L. +2 369
>Jackson_Smylie: AAIIQR A2 ARIA +7 290
#note best is AR(F) 12M, un-Q-sticking by allowing Josh to play ThUJA as desired after dropping the T at M13 to soften the blow of the Q.
>Josh_Sokol-Rubenstein: ?AJTTU 2A .T +4 373
>Jackson_Smylie: IQ - +0 290
>Josh_Sokol-Rubenstein: ?AJTU B13 AT +6 379
#note best is nickel-and-diming with any sequence of C6 (C)U(T), 13A JA(R), A13 (J)o and (Jo)T, which gets 54 points total, whereas this one gets 45. I saw JA(R) as an option over the board and dismissed it too quickly. -9 #endgamelarge
