#player2 Joshua_Sokol Joshua Sokol
>Arie_Sinke: AEIOOPU -AIOOU +0 0
#note Exchanging is clearly called for here. EP wins a sim by a hair over other leaves (AEP is surprisingly good.)
>Joshua_Sokol: ABLORRU H4 BURRO +20 20
#note LABOUR A on the star is also reasonable, as well as ARBOUR A or first R on the star. Given the exchange, I was more prone to giving Arie only 4 tiles to play an 8 with rather than 6 or 5. This wins a sim by over a point, so it's probably a few points better than other alternatives.
>Arie_Sinke: EEINOPT G7 OPE +14 14
#note Bad miss of OPTIONEE here. OPE looks like my best fish - the higher scoring position of OPE (I4) sets up REZ without setting up OPEN.
>Joshua_Sokol: ADELNTY F7 LADY +27 47
#note this is for sure the play after OPE. It reduces bingos by 1/4 with no inference (15% vs 11.5% over the most defensive alternative play of 6G D(R)AY). If this is a scaling heuristic, imagine 40% vs 30%. That's a huge blow in equity. Could be up to a 5 point loss for Arie on average.
>Arie_Sinke: BEIINRT E10 BI +15 29
#note This is fine. My rack is forcing me to fish.
>Joshua_Sokol: DEGHINT 12C DIGHT +26 73
#note this position confused me. I was not sure if I should give back the 11 or 13 rows rather than the floating DIG if I moved DIGHT over 2 spots to the left for 3 more points. I thought I should block the 12 row given the fish of BI. 12C NIGHED or HINGED is also an option, though that gives a much better lane on the 11th row. I think despite my options getting worse, this is worth the equity sacrifice over something like THING 6B or EDH I7.
>Arie_Sinke: EINORTW 13B WO +16 45
#note This is very aggressive, but it wins the sim. I might have played BURROW H4 if I had seen it, but my play does better in the sim, likely because it sets up higher scoring bingos for me next turn with the TWO hook.
>Joshua_Sokol: ?AEENQS 5F SQ.AlENE +82 155
>Arie_Sinke: EFIINRT - +0 45
#note I challenged SQUALENE. It looked somewhat unfamiliar to me, and I'm not in a great position if it's good. I bingo next turn regardless, as I have NIFTIER and FlINTIER.
>Joshua_Sokol: HIJKOSW N2 WHISK +67 222
#note what a crunchy draw
>Arie_Sinke: EFIINRT 14C NIFTIER +66 111
#note This is fine.
>Joshua_Sokol: EEJNOUZ O1 JEON +49 271
>Arie_Sinke: AAAGIRY O6 AGYRIA +36 147
#note Best.
>Joshua_Sokol: AEEIUVZ 11G UVEA +9 280
#note this was too hilarious not to play. Setup is my middle name. This doesn't crush a sim, winning by a couple of points over D7 UVEA, so there's something to be said about playing something else in case the setup is sniffed out and Arie doesn't spend much equity to block; I have higher-scoring spots for UVEA and no great defensive reason to play this one, so it's far from stealthy. However, the board is so wide-open that blocking this is far from intuitive.
>Arie_Sinke: AAENRTU 15A URATE +31 178
#note This is okay, but RUANA may be a bit better with TWO in play. I thought UVEA might be a Z setup, but I also thought it might not be, and I really wanted to draw the Z myself. At any rate, there's no point blocking.
>Joshua_Sokol: ?AEIOSZ 10I AZO +65 345
#note yummy. Well worth it over bingos to keep the soul-crushing EIS? leave for later
>Arie_Sinke: ADEINNT L8 DIN +19 197
#note No clue what to do here. I think I'm probably doomed no matter what I do, but want to cling to that figment of hope. The best plays burn through my good tiles for more immediate points (DENTIN 15H, for instance). I was hoping to hit something miraculous like INEXACT.
>Joshua_Sokol: ?DEISUV 15H DEVIoUS +91 436
#note okay
>Arie_Sinke: ACEGMNT N10 MANGE. +42 239
#note I'm going to lose, might as well take the points.
>Joshua_Sokol: EEIMNOR M2 EM +30 466
#note only hook he could have is the sad F. If he doesn't block, I can fish next turn too.
>Arie_Sinke: ACOPTTT 12J POT +24 263
#note I'm going to lose, might as well take the points.
>Joshua_Sokol: CEINORX 11D X. +18 484
#note this hits with A (ACRO(L)EIN J1), F (COINFER) and T (COINTER/NOTICER). The problem with this is that Arie likely has another T and not multiple L's, otherwise POL at the very least in the same spot. So my drawing into a 1 row bingo is not as good as usual. Also, this does allow Arie to play off 2 tiles, giving him more time to organize himself for the endgame. Then, I can fish again, but he can block with full knowledge of my rack. So playing 13H XI might be better, though it also suffers from the inference, given the extra likelihood I draw something like LL.
>Arie_Sinke: ACEOSTT 13H TO +11 274
#note Maybe a miracle happens and I luck into a bingo. My odds are better after TAXI D9 though. That play creates a new line.
>Joshua_Sokol: CEFINOR 1G COINFER +94 578
#note ridiculous
>Arie_Sinke: ACELLST A8 CALLET +33 307
#note Best endgame play.
>Joshua_Sokol: L 9K L. +4 582
