>Arie_Sinke: AEHJMNU 8G JEHU +28 28
#note I didn't see UNJAM, which looks like a slight improvement.
>Robin_Pollock_Daniel: NOO 9G ONO +23 23
>Arie_Sinke: AMNPRUY 10C RUMPY +31 59
>Arie_Sinke: AMNPRUY -- -31 28
#note RUMPY# is in Collins. For some reason I was totally convinced that it was good in TWL, along with the comparative and superlative.
>Robin_Pollock_Daniel: ?ADDEOS K2 DEODArS +81 104
>Arie_Sinke: AMNPRUY L1 MANY +39 67
#note This scores just enough to be slightly better than the alternatives. YUPON 4H is a reasonable choice.
>Robin_Pollock_Daniel: AET 1L .ATE +18 122
>Arie_Sinke: CPRRTUW 3G CURR..T +26 93
#note Another play that scores just enough to make it probably slightly better than the alternatives.
>Robin_Pollock_Daniel: EGI 10E GIE +16 138
>Arie_Sinke: ILLOPVW 10I PILLOW +29 122
#note I though about this play for a long time. Robin's previous two plays suggest a stronger than average leave, and PILLOW sets up an S hook. The problem is that there isn't really any great alternative. LOUP H1 is a possibility, but it sacrifices in both score and leave. My play wins a sim even if I specify a partial rack of S for Robin, so it's probably okay. I'm behind and can't afford to mess around.
>Robin_Pollock_Daniel: ?ADEEIN O7 ANIsEED +85 223
>Arie_Sinke: AEFISSV H1 FA.VE +45 167
#note I don't know if I should play the S here for three extra points. On an extremely S friendly board (ANIsEEDS and FAUVES) I think the ISS leave is better than it would be in a vacuum.
>Robin_Pollock_Daniel: QT 6J Q.T +32 255
>Arie_Sinke: DIOSSXZ M9 Z.OID +50 217
#note I am again faced with a decision whether to retain or spend the second S. Here the S is likely to help me spend the X for a lot of points, so I prefer retaining it for another turn (I'm probably not bingoing anyhow if I retain the X.) Sim prefers ZOOID over ZOOIDS by a razor thin margin.
>Robin_Pollock_Daniel: AKNT L12 TANK +33 288
>Arie_Sinke: CEENSSX 14J CE.SES +52 269
#note Best - I am again forced to decide whether to play or retain the S. Here my S gets me 10 extra points, so it seemed worth it to play it, and sim concurs. I am now only down by 19 points and not necessarily in need of a bingo to win, so immediate points are starting to trump leave considerations.
>Robin_Pollock_Daniel: FGI 11D GIF +25 313
>Arie_Sinke: ELLNSXY 6C LYNXES +44 313
#note I though hard about XYLENE 5C, retaining the case S at an expense of 12 points. Ultimately, I decided to take the points; the S isn't highly valuable on this board, and by playing LYNXES I tie the score on a board with few bingo options, likely staking the outcome of the game on how a tight endgame plays out. I'm still behind a turn, hoping for good luck from here on out.
>Robin_Pollock_Daniel: GOV 12C VOG +25 338
>Arie_Sinke: AILPRTU D1 PARTL. +28 341
#note This is where I lose the game, I think. Despite looking for a long time, I was blind to a number of superior options in this spot. PURITY and LAYUP through the Y are the two plays that stand out. A number of dinky, low scoring plays outsim this as well, as IU is so horrible, particularly with three I's out.
>Robin_Pollock_Daniel: BEEI 5B BE.IE +29 367
>Arie_Sinke: ABIMUUW 1A BUM. +30 371
#note Looks like I pull out slightly more endgames with WIMP, though BUMP is a better spread play. Perhaps the extra three points make a huge amount of difference going into a tight endgame? I don't really understand why.
>Robin_Pollock_Daniel: H 1A ....H +14 381
>Arie_Sinke: AAIIOUW 2N OW +19 390
#note Endgames like this are extremely difficult to assess. Apparently I'm supposed to play AIR I1 here for 10 points - perhaps it's just a way to keep the scoring pressure on while threatening to score with the W next turn?
>Robin_Pollock_Daniel: INORRRT A1 .IRR +7 388
>Arie_Sinke: AAIIU N7 AI +6 396
#note I don't need to block TORN N4 here, because TORN ties if I play VIA C12. Quackle says VIA loses by 1 anyhow with optimal play - Robin would have to slow play after VIA.
>Robin_Pollock_Daniel: NORT J2 O.T +17 405
>Arie_Sinke: AIU C12 .AU +12 408
#note I can actually win this - I have to play HI E2. Robin can't stop me from going out with VAU.
>Robin_Pollock_Daniel: NR 14B R.N +6 411
>Robin_Pollock_Daniel: (I) +2 413
