>Matthew_Tunnicliffe: ADEEITW 11G DEAWIE +27 93
#note I spent some time here because it felt like a crossroads where I had to decide if I was going to shore up the tournament win, or continue trying to win this game. THAWED seemed like a great way to ensure a <166 pt loss. But DEAWIE kept me in the game.

#note Hmm pretty bad to whiff on the PPED spot. LAPPED and TAPPED are just clearly better in every way. Though the +5 is a bonus

>Matthew_Tunnicliffe: EEIINRV O12 .IVE +24 150
#note Another turn where I can move to shore up the tournament with a play like VILER. But I decided not to play scared and slot an E in row 15 to give myself a path to winning. O1 VEIN is a little too reckless for my taste though
>Rasheed_Balogun: DIV L3 DIV. +16 210
>Matthew_Tunnicliffe: AAEINRT 5L .A. +8 158
#note Rasheed almost hit the clock on 4K DIVAN before picking it up and opting for DIVI to block ANTIRAPE instead. The first of a series of very tragic events.

#note After the game Rasheed suggested I should have addressed row 14 on this turn and banked my S play for next turn. What can I do, though? I suppose OF? I might get hit by a big 6 from 15A but then maybe my JESTS play can outrun that. I can also just get bingoed on through the N and be in even worse shape. Still not sure.
>Rasheed_Balogun: EGILMNR 14A GREMLIN +81 463
>Matthew_Tunnicliffe: CEEERRT 3K E. +3 298
#note I'm down by 168. so in the context of the tournament, I'm down by 3 spread. The unseen pool is gross, BUT my rack somehow does not score shit on this board. Like 8A CEE 17 is literally the high-scoring move. Then he just does FUGU or something and his bad letters suddenly are easily outscoring my seemingly balance rack. I pretty much have to fish. Because my chances of hitting are pretty solid, but also because I can't actually score points normally. So I fished. This is hard to block. But especially, it's hard to block profitably. Rasheed is forced into a difficult position no matter what.
>Rasheed_Balogun: AAHIOUU 2J UH +12 475
>Matthew_Tunnicliffe: CEEERRT 3D REERECT.. +68 366
>Matthew_Tunnicliffe: (challenge) +5 371
#note I made a few boners this game, but turning ED into REERECTED was enough to win the tournament against stiff competition. Fun fact: I initially did not realise that my bingo was still playable after UH, so I was looking for endgame sequences. The optimal sequence on both ends results in a 166-pt loss, the exact amount that would have tied Rasheed and I on spread for the tournament win.
