#player2 Samuel_Kaplan Samuel Kaplan
>Wes_Eddings: AELOZ 8D ZOEAL +48 48
#note So now I'm playing someone who's 4-0 +340 and I'm 2-2 +337. I'm gonna have to win this game to give myself any hope of winning this tournament. My hopes aren't gone just yet, but if I want to win, I don't need to be seeing high scoring plays when my opening rack sucks.
>Samuel_Kaplan: ADDGNPP E5 PAG.D +18 18
#note Critical turn here. F4 GAPP(E)D and F4 DAPP(E)D also give back an enormous hotspot just like my play did. I think it's pretty much do this move for which Wes might not see the PAGODA hook or I can already kiss this game goodbye. I did not see D(O)GNAP. If I did, and I need to protect my big spread lead in the final round more, I might have considered that.
>Wes_Eddings: OX F5 OX +54 102
#note Wes told me he drew the X and Z on his opening draw. Based on that, it would have really put me on tilt had he opened up with OXAZOLE!
>Samuel_Kaplan: BDEEMNP G3 BEDEM.N +35 53
#note This was probably my best non-bingo find of the tourney. I clearly needed to see this play after taking more time when I first came across the more pedestrian move of G3 DEME. I feel a little better for someone who's already down more than just a standard bingo with Wes only playing 7 tiles.
>Wes_Eddings: ANUY H1 YUAN +31 133
#note Maybe he saw the PAGODA hook, maybe he didn't. I'm going to go with he rightfully took the points.
>Samuel_Kaplan: AEEGIPS 10C PEAG +21 74
#note Purposely passed up EGAD so he doesn't have easy scoring plays on Column C, and I at least have an I that plays underneath the G for me to make Row 11 scores with the PAGODAS hook.
>Wes_Eddings: OY F2 YO +18 151
>Samuel_Kaplan: EIINSTT 11B TITS +36 110
#note Absolutely mandatory to make a Row 11 play. Not too happt that Ni* isn't a word. It's too bad that the chemical symbol for nickel can't be played. This sims close with 11C ITS with 4 more Ts unseen.
>Wes_Eddings: MO 9G .OM +10 161
>Samuel_Kaplan: AAEIINU J7 UNAI +12 122
#note After Wes' fish, I can't just let him use the many hooks that NOM takes. I stand by this over D2 INIA based on his last play and the better leave.
>Wes_Eddings: EINRRRS H8 ..RINERS +27 188
#note Timely break.
>Samuel_Kaplan: ABEFIIS 15A BASIFIE. +92 214
#note My latest draw could have been disastrous, but Wes did score reasonably well last turn and I just got lucky to get what I needed.
>Wes_Eddings: AEOTV 8J .OVATE +39 227
#note Nice play.
>Samuel_Kaplan: ?DGLNRT M7 D.RTLiNG +74 288
#note Ok then.
>Wes_Eddings: HITW 12A WITH +47 274
>Samuel_Kaplan: EFIJOTU K10 FUJI +33 321
#note Looks fine.
>Wes_Eddings: Q F14 Q. +31 305
>Samuel_Kaplan: CELNOTU 2A COUNT. +22 343
#note Hm...I just felt like if I don't open a 2nd lane and Wes hits a Column O bingo I'm toast. Maybe 2B UNCO(Y) or 2B CUTE(Y) with some Es left? #questionable
>Wes_Eddings: EKOR A1 O.KER +36 341
>Samuel_Kaplan: ACELOSV N6 VO.E +20 363
#note After playing so well the majority of this game, I unfortunately blew the game here by missing VOCALESE. This is easily a more painful loss than the one against Seth last round knowing I let this one slip away. I would have upped my win % to 98.48%, but instead Wes finds the only possible bingo from the Y that I found for him with this pool. Garbage play.
>Wes_Eddings: ?DEEILR 1H .IELDERs +89 430
#note And that's why I can't afford to miss bingoes such as VOCALESE.
>Samuel_Kaplan: AACEILS 13B LASE +30 393
#note Maybe CASE in the same spot to allow a better out play with AIL? #endgamemeh
>Wes_Eddings: HRW 13G H.W +17 447
#note I wasn't stopping him from dumping his H and W.
>Samuel_Kaplan: ACI K1 .AIC +6 399
#note A start to this tourney that looked so promising just became more meaningless because I could not close this game out after starting my comeback with BEDEMAN. Even though I pretty much had to play this game perfectly to win after he got down ZOEAL and OX, it's still demoralizing to lose in this manner. Now Wes is 5-0 and I have a losing record despite my large spread.
