>Mark_Pistolese: AADENPT -AADEPN +0 0
>Arie_Sinke: AEPRRST 8D PRATERS +74 74
#note This or PARTERS. A sim has PARTERS slightly ahead, but I'm not sure if that's meaningful. There are more 2x2s through the A than the R.
>Mark_Pistolese: IQ J6 QI. +32 32
>Arie_Sinke: ?BEEEIU -BEEIU +0 74
#note The sim likes BREE I1 for 17 and RUBE for 12. I just don't want to waste multiple turns playing through vowels here before I bingo. I did consider BREE and almost played it, but opted to exchange. This is probably about -3; I'm still not fully convinced that it's wrong, particularly since I'm slightly ahead and don't want to gamble.
>Mark_Pistolese: DZ F8 .DZ +33 65
>Arie_Sinke: ?ACCDEK 11A CrACKED +94 168
#note Also ClACKED and CACKlED here. I don't think I knew ClACKED, and CACKlED is bad for setting up B10-14.
>Mark_Pistolese: EHLSSTU B5 HUSTLE.S +64 129
>Arie_Sinke: ADEINNO A1 DANIO +26 194
#note This play falls below a bunch of A11 plays in the sim and in CP's list of choices. I'm not sure why, it scores comparably, EN is a fairly decent leave, and the A1-5 spot needs to be dealt with. CONIN, CODEN, CANOE, and CANON all score 27 or 30 and leave basically comparable leaves, maybe a bit worse for most of them, and do better in the sim. Apparently I score more on my next turn after those plays?
>Mark_Pistolese: NOY D8 .ON.Y +24 153
>Arie_Sinke: AAEELMN A11 .AMEL +33 227
#note This looks best.
>Mark_Pistolese: BBGIIIU -5 +0 153
>Arie_Sinke: AEEENRU B1 EAU +15 242
#note This looks best, and has the advantage of limiting the northwest quadrant quite a bit.
>Mark_Pistolese: ITW K5 WIT +25 178
>Arie_Sinke: EEENORT 10F .EE +15 257
#note This looks best.
>Mark_Pistolese: FO I7 F.O +21 199
>Arie_Sinke: EGINORT 4G GENITOR +75 332
#note This is the only bingo.
>Mark_Pistolese: OR 5G OR +7 206
>Arie_Sinke: BBIJNPU H1 JIB.. +42 374
#note I did very briefly consider JIBB 6D to avoid giving Mark the J and the I to play through after a fish, but decided that the 15 points were too many to give up. CP concurs.
>Mark_Pistolese: ITW 6E WIT +12 218
>Arie_Sinke: ABNPTUV M2 AB.UPT +22 396
#note I did a 1500 iteration sim to the end of the game and this comes out on top for winning percentage. I didn't see that I had VAPOR 5D for 34, which is definitely the best equity play, and if I had seen it, I would have probably played it. However, this has the advantage of blocking those rare eights beginning with J, and also removes two S hooks from the board, replacing them with a weak line for sevens.
>Mark_Pistolese: ?AEFMRV I2 FE. +17 235
>Arie_Sinke: EMNORUV 14A .RUV +14 410
#note Not really sure what's best here. The obvious equity play is VROUW E2, which scores 8 more with a comparable leave. However, this play blocks the L when Mark's fishes have led me to assume that he has a strong rack, probably with a blank. I believe he was already very low on time at this point. I could still lose to some massive play like LARYNXES followed by bingoing out, so I see some merit in giving up equity to block the spot. I'm not sure the way I played this game is the theoretically accurate way to play scrabble, but it seems to work.
>Mark_Pistolese: GI C3 GI +14 249
>Arie_Sinke: DEEIMNO F8 ....D +16 426
#note I thought this was a great way to block sevens forming EDS or EDH. However, I can do better - DEMO 9F for 19 blocks the line as well while scoring three more and retaining a better leave, and it easily wins a sim.
>Mark_Pistolese: IX N2 XI +40 289
>Arie_Sinke: EEILMNO O1 LEONE +33 459
#note There are several options here, including this play, O3 OILMEN, and O1 LENO and MENO. This blocks the most bingos, but it doesn't win a sim. I don't really know what to do here, but this play did end up working out pretty well for me.
>Mark_Pistolese: OV E4 VO. +18 307
>Arie_Sinke: AHIMNOY 6M .O +6 465
#note This play blocks every possible bingo and makes out bingos very difficult, if not impossible, to set up, despite the strong unseen pool of AAEGLNRS?. It wins the sim easily.
>Mark_Pistolese: G 2G G.. +7 314
>Arie_Sinke: AAHIMNY C13 Y.M +16 481
#note Very difficult to know how to play this sort of endgame. This is CP's choice.
>Mark_Pistolese: ?AELNRS J1 AS +14 328
>Arie_Sinke: AAHIN A7 AI +14 495
#note CP thinks this is a two point error and I should play AN 3E.
>Mark_Pistolese: ?ELNR M2 ......ER +13 341
>Arie_Sinke: AHN L8 NAH +12 507
#note This is correct. This was a weird and sometimes puzzling game, but I think I played mostly well, other than missing DEMO when I played ADZED. Mark went overtime by two minutes and underscored himself by 2 - final score was recorded as 511-323.
