#player1 Jackson Jackson
#player2 Arie_Sinke Arie Sinke
>Jackson: AJKNRUW H7 JUNK +30 30
>Arie_Sinke: AAEIMST 9G A.IMATES +63 63
#note This looks better than AMENTIAS - scores one point more and doesn't open up the left side of the board.
>Jackson: ?AAIORW 8M WAR +25 55
#note chickened out of AIRWOMAN here, AEIMNORW looked too weird to me.
>Arie_Sinke: AAEHOST 10K EATH +39 102
#note I did not see OHIA I7, which is a very strong alternative - it scores 10 less but retains AEST rather than AOS. EATH wins the sim, but it's close.
>Jackson: ?ABILLO I6 LO +13 68
#note Laid down ABOLL(AE) at first, but on this otherwise dead board it really hands him easy points. I considered IL(K) for the setup as well, but with ABIL? the junk hooks are kinda useful for me, and B often starts words. also,he's gonna block with an F or M very often when he has it. JO is also a good option which bingoes a ton. ILK wins a sim, and definitely might be the call. It bingoes more than LO, so it's hard to argue with that
>Arie_Sinke: ADOOSTV 11E AVOS +30 132
#note This looks best.
>Jackson: ?ABIILN O1 BILINeA. +80 148
>Arie_Sinke: DDLOTTU J5 DOT +20 152
#note Nothing looks great here. This seems better than some equally unappealing alternatives. DLTU is a poor leave but I can't leave anything remotely good without exchanging.
>Jackson: AAEIOPT N2 PATIO +35 183
>Arie_Sinke: DILRTUV 3I VIRTU.. +28 180
#note This looks best.
>Jackson: AEEEEQU K3 .EE +12 195
#note I get a lot of 12a plays. I briefly considered U(R)EA to set up QUA, but I need to draw the only remaining A, so it's hella not worth it
>Arie_Sinke: DEEILRS L3 .REED +20 200
#note Third missed bingo of the tournament: SIDEREAL and RESAILED. I couldn't convince myself with 100% certainty that RESAILED was good, and I wasted so much time brainstorming RESAILED that I overlooked SIDEREAL. Here the board is completely dead except for the A in AVOS, and I would prefer to keep scoring and force Jackson to open up. The bingos are obviously better, but I like my play better than any of the lame fishes that Quackle suggests.
>Jackson: AEEOQUW 12B AWEE +16 211
#note Bad play. Looks like the right idea to set up QUA- plays, but on this board how often can I expect him not to play there? Very not often. I also must have forgotten about the dearth of As, cause WEE looks better to set up my A instead of handing it to him. It still gets blocked pretty often, but then I can get better plays on row 10 or 13 instead. Big oversight.
>Arie_Sinke: BDEILRS B8 BEDR.ILS +80 280
#note just punishment for my error
>Jackson: FHOOQUY C6 YOOF +28 239
#note missed MHO, which is the call. Also sets up the Y hook for me (and S if I draw it), which is no big deal but doesn't hurt. Also QUY is better to keep than QUH for sure, HOOF is better. Not just for QU?Y immediately but for row 15 plays, and cause we're getting short on vowels.
>Arie_Sinke: CEGIORR D4 REORG +31 311
#note This wins a sim - scores more than anything else and CI is a fine leave.
>Jackson: EFHQTUU 15A U.QUE +45 284
#note just need the case AE? now
>Arie_Sinke: CDGIIMN 5D .MIC +16 327
#note I don't know what the right play is here, but this probably isn't it. CP and sims like DICING - I was wary of that simply because something as simple as FIZ will get Jackson right back in the game. I also didn't want to play TAMING because I wasn't 100% certain about TAMINGS not being good. Both of thoes plays block bingos, although TAMING also sets some eights up in the process. MYOID 6B is a better version of EMIC that scores 5 more points. I like TAMING - any opening it creates will likely be a 1 turn opening, as those lines are easy to block.
>Jackson: EFHLNOT 6C ..OF +35 319
#note MHO is a bit more aggressive, hitting slightly more bingoes and giving me a shot at drawing the S for HEATHS plays, but YOOF is definitely the higher avg valuation and looks fine. I'm not favoured but also not completely desperate yet
>Arie_Sinke: DGIINXY L9 ..XING +28 355
#note I was extremely wary of the additional openings created by TAXYING and TAXIING. A sim to the end of the game suggests that I am justifiably wary. I think this has to be correct.
>Jackson: ACEHLNT J1 CH. +16 335
#note this is champ's choice as well. H(I) looks great at first but really isn't, I dont hit anything at the bottom except with a blank draw, and he can always block latency/centals unless G? is in the bag. CHI has some outs like ZINCATE if he blocks for small, and of course hits more bingoes at the bottom. hits ?I, ?S, ?P at the top and N?, DI, D?, I?, G?, GI, Y?, PG, P?, N?, S?, IS, PI, IZ, Z?, and PN at the bottom. I expect him to block at the bottom so I'm either squeaking one of those by as a parallel or just going for the bingoes at the top.
>Arie_Sinke: DINNPYZ 14J ZI. +33 388
#note It looks like ZIG wins 50% of the time, with draws of ?ELS. CP says a bunch of other plays like PINNY also win 50%, but with those it might be possible to sneak out the win with some USQUEbAE sequence.
>Jackson: ?AEGLNT 12J GL.NT +6 341
#note hoping he tries to block with USQUES and that USQUES is somehow not a word
>Arie_Sinke: DNNPSY 15A .....S +15 403
#note Blocking USQUEbAE is my best play by far.
>Jackson: ?AE - +0 341
#note Jackson challenged USQUES, causing me to momentarily fear that it didn't take the S.
>Arie_Sinke: DNNPY 12J .....Y +14 417
#note This is the best I can do. EMIC and TREED were errors, otherwise 11/13 plays were played correctly.
>Jackson: ?AE O12 .EAr +18 359
>Jackson: (DNNP) +14 373
