#note CoCo San Diego Tournament
12 March, 2022
Game 2
Never even considered just BY, which sims best by 2. I did consider maybe not floating any more tiles than absolutely necessary after one of the greatest players ever has opened with an exch 3.

#note Tough to go with JEE here, though sim says that's clearly best. I also considered just J(AB) so as not to get into too much of a shootout.

#note Didn't look hard enough to find J5 FER(N)S for 38. But I don't mind the exch here and aiming for a counterbingo to the bingo I was sure was coming.

#note There are at least four other options that are clearly better, all totally different strategically and none seen by the feeble human being facing this position. Against not-a-grandmaster, J5 OU is pretty cool. Otherwise sim's fave 6G OEUV(RE) is solid and really not that hard to syllogise one's way into.

#note I'd love for strataji or axcertypo to make a video about this position. I narrowed it down to this or 10I Q(I). I don't like B13 or N13 QAT because there are too many places for opp to score comparably, because I therefore need all the lanes I can get, and because of the four unseen OOs vs. just one A. I didn't see or consider H4 Q(A)T, which sims far behind the other choices and is certainly worse statically, but in this moment I would not have minded taking away the scoring spot created by HOVEA while also minimizing turnover. Q(I) can hit MASTODO(N) but it probably won't and/or opp could block the lower right. I thought Q(U)OD gave me the best chance to bingo. Sim says QI actually hits 30% vs. 21% for QUOD. But with q's help I wonder if Q(U)OAD# is not actually a bit better than QUOD since it chases big K or Z plays and is otherwise less useful to opp than to me since it will be tough to cash in the hotspot without opening row a. I have seen QUOAD but (un)fortunately do not see it here. Sim does like QUOD and QI 2 better than QUOAD, and likes the QAT options best overall by 4.

#note Endurance is obviously my biggest problem right now since this kind of meltdown is what tends to follow immediately upon a very difficult decision. I didn't know TAGM(A)# but STOM(A) or STOM(A)L should be gimmes.
