#note There is only one other bingo, but it is a substantial improvement on this one: GRIDLOCK, which plays best at 13F for 80.

#note Sim thinks it's a very close call between EW and HOWDIE, with EW winning by 0.2. Another good play which doesn't do quite as well in sim but is absolutely beautiful: DOURINE J1. Interestingly, part of the reason EW might do so well is that it holds DOURINE for the next move.
>Puneet_Sharma: DEIMOSS 14G S.DOMISE +76 267
#note Playing this over SODOMIES was a good call given the game situation. Puneet is still chasing after the bingo, and there are only two tiles left to hook it, so creating the race to those tiles increases the volatility of the result. Unfortunately for him, I was already holding the hook tile.
>David_Koenig: DEIOOUU O13 UDO +25 323
#note Playing it safe by taking out the lane might be merited in this game situation, but it might have been better to play 15J EUOI first on the reasoning that the chance of him having drawn the other D is unlikely, and I'm likely to get a bigger play there next turn. I don't like playing DOURINE or other plays burning the D here. That asks for trouble.
>Puneet_Sharma: ETV 5C VET +18 285
#note A good play by Puneet that shapes the board for comebacks by creating the EVET hook.
>David_Koenig: AEILOUU 15J EUOI +16 339
#note Not a bad play, though ROULEAU looks like a possibly better version, especially since he was unlikely to be holding the X when he played VET. It is a bit distressing to burn the E with the EVET hook open, but taking out the S for bingos on column M is valuable.

#note I missed the stronger LUTZ in the same spot, which not only scores 13 more, but allows me to keep scoring with the X on the next turn. There's a little bit of a downside of opening up the lane for -AL bingos, but if I keep scoring I should be able to outlast one of them.

#note I had noticed before his play that my rack needed a W for a bingo, but he gave it to me in the wrong spot.

>David_Koenig: ADLMRTU 12H .TRUM +14 409
#note I wanted to start taking out the bingo lanes at the bottom, and I was disappointed he had just blocked MUSTARD. I forgot about STULM, which is an improved version of the same thing, as is RUMAL/MURAL 12K.

#note I wanted to play ENDPLAY, but I can't empty the bag here. I was torn between ANY and PLAYER D1, the latter of which is championship player's preference. It probably doesn't matter a great deal, as he is not quite close enough on score to make this interesting. On the one hand, I liked that by leaving one in the bag, PLAYER stopped him from having more turns to fish for a bingo. On the other hand, I was a bit worried that he might hit the bingo and go into a 1 vs 7 endgame where my tiles were too awkward to score or dump much quickly. I figured it might be better to go into an endgame where he has more tiles and can't go out so quickly, or at least stretch my lead a bit further first before he hits his bingo if he needs to fish again. I'm playing mostly to let him bingo and then hang on in the endgame anyway, so the points for ANY are quite helpful, and I am blocking some bingos, such as CENOBITE.

#note This was a practical matter. I saw that I was a guaranteed winner, even if he hit a bingo like ENTERIC A6 in response. I thought it was likely that I win by more if I temporize by dropping the B for something like BA/BI or BUDO first, and I may even bingo myself. However, there were two rounds to play and, because of my tie, my spread was meaningless in the standings. So I played on the philosophy of just ending the game as quickly as possible to not prolong the opportunities for me to make a game-losing error. In a situation earlier in the tournament, it would be better to drop the B first.
