#note Rd 5 Philly virtual 11-21-2021. I have some ground to make up, and this opening play does help me accomplish that to an extent.
>TheBigEZ: ?DIKNPX G7 P.X +23 23
#note Looks fine.
>skaplan31: EOPTTWZ F6 WO.E +31 77
#note This is going to be the start of an ugly board thus far. I wasn't crazy about H4 ZOWEE despite how much more open that was because I was looking to make up additional spread by trying to score more over more than 1 play. E7 O(U)TWEPT does win the sim by a little bit because I do keep too much clunk with the Z, but hopefully Ed doesn't have too much to work with himself.
>TheBigEZ: ?DIKLNR E7 L.RID +27 50
#note I like this over E7 L(U)RK as Ed has options with his N next turn with the WOVEN hook some of the time.
>skaplan31: ?BPRTTZ -BPRT +0 77
#note This board is so bad that Q likes D10 BoRTZ best in the initial valuation. I just wasn't having any of that. I did like keeping the Z in the hopes of scoring something next turn while this board was only getting harder to open up.
>TheBigEZ: ?KNORTW 10D K.N +22 72
#note At least he was able to get rid of his consos without burning a blank unlike me. {shrug}
>skaplan31: ?AGOTTZ C9 ZAG +31 108
#note Well then...when will this board get any better?
>TheBigEZ: ?DNORTW D10 .OR +19 91
#note
>skaplan31: ?OORTTT 10B T.... +11 119
#note It's so out of control at this point that this is the only scoring play I really have!
>TheBigEZ: ?ADMNTW 13C WAND +24 115
>skaplan31: ?FOORTT 14A FOOT +28 147
#note Looks fine. Still not a very good board.
>TheBigEZ: ?MNQRST -MQ +0 115
#note I would not have done I3 TRaNQS here, but it is worth exchanging down to ST? or RS?.
>skaplan31: ?AENRTT I2 NATTERs +73 220
#note Now this board is improving! 15A ANT or ART are fine as well, considering that Row 14 and Row 12 are open too.
>TheBigEZ: ?BMNRST 3H B.RM +8 123
#note No bingoes play. This also looks OK as does 6H NEB or 3G BRANT.
>skaplan31: DEEEILR 15A ERE +32 252
#note Looks fine.
>TheBigEZ: ?FINPST J5 IF +28 151
#note Also looks fine.
>skaplan31: ADEILNU 12F ALIUNDE +71 323
#note So much for WAND being a pretty big play just to allow for potential for the board to finally be decent.
>TheBigEZ: ?NPSSTY L6 SYNTyP.S +63 214
#note Whoa, nice find! I would not have spotted that one.
>skaplan31: AEEEMOV H1 MA.E +32 355
>TheBigEZ: ABCEGHI M3 BACH +27 241
#note I really like K1 HEMIC or GAMIC better for him if it were a closer game, but I don't mind this play either as he does prevent easy blocks.
>skaplan31: AEEOOQV 8L .AVE +21 376
#note If there were just over 7 in the bag, I would have easily exchanged. I'm fine with this play, 21 is more than 0 and I can always exchange next turn after the easy hooks to SH are eliminated.
>TheBigEZ: CEGHIIU J11 U.I +3 244
>skaplan31: AEOOOQS -OOOQ +0 376
>TheBigEZ: CEGHIIT M13 HIC +26 270
#note A great board-opening play her is 2B ETHICI(AN). For a brief moment, I thought he had CHIGETAI!
>skaplan31: AAEGINS O4 AGEN.SIA +60 436
#note Since I needed to make up spread and was in 4th place out of 6 going into this game, I was hoping to draw the Q to get to do QI for 31, which is why I passed up the O6 placement.
>TheBigEZ: DEEGILT J10 G...TE +13 283
#note Not sure what he was trying to do here besides block the 3x3...
>skaplan31: IOOOOSU 15M .OO +15 451
#note Meanwhile I get all this garbage! At least I'm guaranteed to win this one.
>TheBigEZ: DEILLQY 10N Q. +31 314
#note But not so fortunate to avoid the Q when I could have used it.
>skaplan31: EIOORSU 15F OORI. +15 466
>TheBigEZ: DEILLY N2 DELI +23 337
#note N1 IDYL is 9 more spread points for him if he's gonna play on Column N, but I do like 4K YEA if he wants to block my clear best plays of K2 EMUS and 4F SU(ET)E in the hopes I won't find H11 S(I)EU(R).
>skaplan31: ESU K2 E.US +18 484
#note But I get my best out play. I'm still in 4th place, but I'm in a much better spot now than I once was.
