Winner takes 2nd.
>Stefan_Kac: EIOSTUY H7 YOU +12 12
>Chris_Schneider: EW I7 EW +17 17
>Stefan_Kac: AEISSTY 10H SAY +21 33
#note Missing AY or SAY in Column G, which seem (and sim) slightly better. The upside of my SAY almost manifested.

>Chris_Schneider: LN 3I N...L +18 136
>Stefan_Kac: ADELNOS G6 DOL +20 108
#note Not understanding why sim luvs OD/DYER for 5 fewer points and a huge giveback.
>Chris_Schneider: X F10 X. +25 161
>Stefan_Kac: AEFINST 1F FAINEST +90 198
>Chris_Schneider: III - +0 161
>Stefan_Kac: ?EGIKMZ 2L .EZ +26 224
#note Having availed myself of an overlooked hook, I neglect to notice the (I)DOL potential. ZIG there sims 2 better than my play. All of that being as it were, (S)KEG won't be overlooked by either of us, so I don't think 2E KEG can possibly be the best play here. Holding the blank is like having a slightly larger lead than the scoreboard shows.
>Chris_Schneider: III -III +0 161
>Stefan_Kac: ?DGIKMO 8F G....D +11 235
#note Ditto previous "scoreboard" remark.
>Chris_Schneider: CIOS K8 .ISCO +25 186
>Stefan_Kac: ??BIKMO L12 KOB +30 265
#note I do see BoOMKIn but not (I)DOL, which is the only place for it. BO(O)K vs. B(O)OK vs. KOB was definitely the deepest-in-the-weeds strategic quandary this game. I decided that scoring was paramount here, even though it suddenly blows the board back open. When you have both blanks you might as well enjoy it.
>Chris_Schneider: AJR M11 JAR +31 217
>Stefan_Kac: ??IIIMP 15H IMPIs +33 298
#note Not quite the worst-case scenario, but def a pisser to pull multiple IIs with row fifteen still available. Even in sim world this is 2 better than 5D IMPI. I don't get all the concern about telegraphing. What's opp going to do about it here? Sacrifice equity to block or fish? God I would really love that. Cut me some slack also for being freaking exhausted after the previous barnburner and knowing that with KOB something like IMPIs is a likely outcome and leaves me in great shape without working too hard.
>Chris_Schneider: BGNRU 14D BRUNG +13 230

#note So drained I don't even want to try going through the options and don't think I'm in any danger by neglecting to do so. Do people have tips for sleeping well during tournaments? Or do you just have to not be a spaz?
>Chris_Schneider: ANTU 13A TUNA +13 243

#note This was a fun tournament. Everyone I played was friendly and in a good mood. I give it til maybe next March or so until we'll all go back to being the miserable sniping schmucks we are known to be. Personal tactical takeaways: (1) in the short-term I need to allow myself two or three quickplays each game in order to bank time for the pre-endgame. This series of games indicates that for the equity lost this way an equal amount will be gained by not talking myself out of things. (2) Not reviewing any eights did hurt, and reviewing some nines didn't help. (3) I only lost one game to a player seeded below me, which is a huge improvement over past tourneys. Unfortunately it's hard to know whether my more off-the-map plays were strong inferences or just dumb luck. (4) I still like to stop tracking after bingos, or just write down totally wrong strings of letters after shorter draws (that's why several games are missing here). I kind of hate that there is so much arbitrary clerical skill involved in being a strong live tournament player, but I also hope we don't lurch too far toward online everything.
