>cooper: AEEGJQT 8G QAT +24 24
#note Here's Round 5 of HOPPY, and it's one of the best games I've ever been a part of, win or lose.
>skaplan31: AADEIRY 9H YA +14 14
#note Consdiered this, 9F AIDE, 9F AI, and 9G IDEA. I figured I'd keep well and force him to open up to support my ADEIR leave, which is compatible with an open floater a lot of the time. 9F AIDE does set up my Y nicely, but that scoring spot can be taken up easily by Cooper as well, especially because he is random after moves like QAT.
>cooper: EEGIJNO 10F JOE +32 56
#note Looks fine to me, scores nicely for him and makes it hard for me to score much if I don't have an O.
>skaplan31: AADEIRV F10 .AVA +14 28
#note Come to think of it, AJIVA does fork even better than this. That's the play at this score.
>cooper: BEGIINO 13B IBOG.INE +76 132
#note AJIVA or JAVA wouldn't have stopped this from coming down. This is a nice find.
>skaplan31: DEIIRRV 14I DRIVER +27 55
#note B10 VIRID is 7 more, which I saw, but I clearly need to be aggressive when I'm already down more than 100. This does open up more opportunities than 12I DRIVER or even D12 VOID.
>cooper: EEGGLRT 12I GLEG +17 149
#note Looks fine to me and sims very close with 12H EGGER.
>skaplan31: BIKLSTU O12 KIST +50 105
#note ILT isn't a great leave on this board so might as well keep more scoring ammunition for next turn as I'm not super likely to bingo anyway. Clearly the right idea to score and hope for the best.
>cooper: AEIORTT 12D TA. +19 168
>skaplan31: BEEILOU E11 B..EL +24 129
#note Making another bold move by opening up a 3x3 and keeping the Column K 2x2 open. Many plays are close again.
>cooper: EINORTU L5 ROUTEIN. +60 228
#note Yowza! He almost had OUTLINER as a 3x3.
>skaplan31: EFIIOOU 5J OU.IE +10 139
#note Never play scared when down.
>cooper: AAEERWW 6H WAW +30 258
>skaplan31: ?FILMOZ M13 F.Z +30 169
#note I did see N4 FEZ but again, I need volatility.
>cooper: ?AEEEPR 15A REPE. +24 282
#note 5B PEERAgE is Cooper's only bingo here.
>skaplan31: ?CILMOT 4D TeLOMIC +84 253
#note Only one that plays for me.
>cooper: ?ADEMNT 3A uNTAMED +84 366
#note Nice parallel. He's on fire.
>skaplan31: AEFNRSS M3 FA.RNESS +88 341
#note This was probably the #visionsolid moment of the tourney for me. It almost ties my 6 letter parallel that I found one time at my home club last January.
>cooper: DNOORUY A1 YO.R +21 387
>skaplan31: AHHILNX F2 H..IX +39 380
#note Most points by far. Just keep pace.
>cooper: CDEINOU 5E D.CE +38 425
#note I don't know why Quackle wants Cooper to do 11K ON. I think he absolutely needs to score here and try to outrun me as the pool does have some high scoring consonants.
>skaplan31: ADHLNPS B10 HAL.D. +36 416
#note This is 1 of several possible wins that exist. I could have also done B12 H(I)D(E) in order to induce a block that would have forced him to take multiple turns to go out and then I do N1 PLAN(E)S, or I do N1 PLAN(E)S first, then go out with B12 H(I)D(E) or 10K D(IS)H.
>cooper: INOOUU 14B .ON. +16 441
#note At this point, Cooper has no wins here. Even if he sees and blocks my only out play of G10 (O)PS(I)N with G10 ON, I still have 14D PES for 30 and he has garbage to deal with.
>skaplan31: NPS G10 .PS.N +21 437
>skaplan31: (challenge) +5 442
#note That was an exciting game for sure. Cooper played extremely well and he did have a crappy final rack in the end. Understandably he had to challenge as that was his only hope, even if the tourney had the 5 point challenge rule despite this being an NWL game.
