>talulah: AEHIPSY 8G HAY +18 18
#note HOPPY, round 1.
>MattL: ??DEIUZ J6 UnsIZED +96 96
#note I played this instantly, but truthfully I was only about 70% sure it was valid. I would have been more sure of UpsIZED had I noticed it. I see now that I got super lucky she didn't play HEAPY last turn.
>talulah: EEEIIPS 12J .EEP +14 32
#note EI(D)E might be too crazy, but playing PIE somewhere seems better. I think she has to get rid of an I, two Es is perfectly fine. (D)IE is only 8 but the sim seems to like it, as well as Exch. EEI!
>MattL: AACLNOQ 6I Q.A +12 108
#note I kinda hate playing QUA in places like this because it has too many hooks and usually gives my opponent an easy, high-scoring turn. So AQ(U)A instead? E hook, and CLNO doesn't look very fun. No disagreement from Quackle.
>talulah: EEFIIIS 13L FIE +25 57
>MattL: AACILNO H1 CANOLA +40 148
#note Okay, that works! I'm pretty bad with theme words, so I thought I actually got something in game one. However, it seems as though canola is mainly a name for the oil, the plant itself is rapeseed. So pretty much my only hope was flashiest bingo.
>talulah: DEIILST L4 DIE +22 79
#note 100% I would have missed this bingo too. Whenever I look for words ending is -IST, I come up empty every time. I think sometimes I don't even bother looking with it.
>MattL: ADIILOO 9C AIOLI +13 161
#note What's the better leave, LO or DO? My instinct was that the D would be more useful for at least scoring more than 10 next turn. Admittedly I never saw the Z plays. (Z)OOID, O(Z)ALID, A(Z)IDO. (Z)OOID sims the best of any play, despite 4 esses out.
>talulah: BGILOST 8A BOLT +26 105
#note BILTO(N)GS!
>MattL: DJNOTWY 11G JOW.D +38 199
#note I saw WYND for 31 at 10B, but scoring 7 less keeping JOT just didn't make sense. Yes, I have places to play JOT, but it still didn't seem right. I'm pretty likely to score around 20+ next turn with NTY.
>talulah: GINNSTU 3B STUNNI.G +74 179
#note Even if this was double challenge, I probably would have insta-challenged (B)UNTINGS.
>MattL: BEENTVY 5K T.VY +24 223
#note Okay this is the first turn where Quackle is just saying "nope". Why is keeping ENV so much better? 10B BYTE is fine, but M1 and especially 14J seem to give her more scoring options while I keep ENV?
>talulah: EEFHMRS 4B HEM +31 210
#note 14L FEH! 42 points with an S for next turn, this looks like a solid gamble.
>MattL: ABDEENR H10 B.NDER +30 253
#note I saw this pretty fast, but there had to be a better play? My next choice was BA(N)ED for 25. I didn't see BA(SH)ED for 32 - keeping ENR, and it also doesn't throw a bunch of letters out in the open. I noted the possibilty of OX under JOWED, but maybe that's too unlikely a play for B(O)NDER to be worth it. Plus, I didn't know R(O)BAND for 36 and missed B(O)RANE keeping ED. Regardless, most of these plays sim neck-and-neck, so the real mistake was spending 3.5 minutes on this play.
>talulah: EEFORSS 14B FORESE.S +76 286
#note I didn't notice that this also played at N8, so I thought I had really blown it. Also of note - FRES(C)OES!
>MattL: AAAEMOX 14M AX +41 294
#note Besides a lack of Es, there was a lack of vowels in general remaining, so that's why I didn't play AXE. I think it's obvious why MAX for 50 isn't worth playing.
>talulah: AIOORUW 15A RAW +28 314
#note IOOU might get bailed out next turn, but probably only barely. I don't think this spot is crucial to block because the vowel shortage and JXZ being out really lessens the chance I do anything amazing with it. Something like CAKE would be close to the worst case scenario. 2A WAUR seems like a great play. Also, ROW 2A keeps a better 4-vowel leave and really solves the counterplay problem.
>MattL: AAEIMOR 13C MOA +30 324
>talulah: IINOOTU 1E OTI. +6 320
#note Pretty bleak, (B)O(Z)O does score 24. Given the score, maybe it's the most reasonable thing to do? Hope to maintain a small lead?
>MattL: AEEIKPR 7E ARK +27 351
#note This is the part where I learn about words ending in -OTIC. There's 35 of them. On this turn PERI(OTIC) was available. Anyways, I thought about UMP/PAK, then I thought I needed to try and score pretty good next turn too. So I kept the P for UMP. I think I had the right idea, but I missed plays through SH. RE(SH)IP scores 34.
>talulah: EINORRU M3 RE. +15 335
#note She has two plays using -OTIC that are anagrams of each other!
>MattL: CEEILPU 5D PICU. +25 376
#note LEUC(OTIC).
>talulah: GINORTU 12G O. +11 346
#note Champ player's got nothing, it's suggesting 2C UT which only leaves 6 letters on her rack. Really? That's very un-Quackle-like.
>MattL: EELNSTV N2 LEV. +29 405
#note STEN(OTIC) - yes that's 3 turns in a row!
>talulah: GGINRTU O1 GIG +21 367
>MattL: ENST 6A NETS +14 419
#note never again
>MattL: (NRTU) +8 427
