Game 4
Sim wants 9C GOX for 6 more. I thought I was going for max bingo chances, but sim says that SSTT actually bingos *more* often than STT. That's nutty!

#note Generally this is way too cute for my taste, but with three of four esses seen it felt silly not to go for it. Sim values it identically to 6D placement, confirming the wisdom of my puritanical "taste."

#note It's not rational, but sometimes you just know that things are not going to go your way. This outsims the nearest competitor by 8, hence is obligatory, but I hate everything about it. I would rather deal now with opp blocking a prior S setup than with trying to close a whole bunch of S setups later on, because the S on my rack is a known and the S yet to be seen is an unknown.

#note Just how dangerous+wasteful is it to slot this S in the garden spot? 4H TWA outsims by 2 while scoring 22 less.

#note 3G Q(A)T was going to be underwhelming enough, but now I'm forced into an even worse dump. Sim's fave exch is QTT, but it lands 5 worse than this.

#note Sims best. I didn't even see TITCH, but sim has no love for the G.

#note Sim prefers just (KA)F or (KA)B. I don't see how either of those leaves are bingoing, so I'll take the extra 10 points, leave alone the upper left, and try to chip away at the deficit by scoring.

#note Very complex position here. Sim has other faves, but I don't mind this. 2E NA doesn't address the ever-closing board and leaves clunkily. I don't see how that is even good, let alone "best." 13K B(L)IND on the other hand seems too reckless for only 4 extra points. 10L ALB scores 8 more and achieves similar positioning as BILL, but every hook I could draw is a hook that opp could be holding. Is it not then actually a higher-prob gamble to open a hook here which is lower-stakes and less likely? I feel like this makes for more like a 35/65 proposition, whereas ALB is closer to 25/75. I am two-ply simming of course, because I don't really trust the sim beyond that depth until the bag is almost empty. The deeper the sim the more it reflects the computer's own decision-making, which against all but the very best+most robotic of human opponents is ever less likely to anticipate actual paths the game might take. Besides, when I do subsequently move up to four-ply, nothing much ever seems to change, and two-ply is faster for my minimal desktop computing power to handle. Anyway, before making this play, I looked forever at N3 and eventually gave up. BINAL is the play there and is very defensible. Is BINAL even on my list? FML. I def would have gone with that instead, though sim likes it only a smidge better and likes NA much better than both. This I find puzzling. (Spoiler alert: it doesn't matter.)

#note Now we're rearranging the proverbial deckchairs, but sometimes it's still fun to try to engineer a walkoff. I went off the list for this one and it does cobest with 2E DA at four-ply depth. I don't know that there's actually anything in the pool that I can draw for a bingo either through the N or off the P, let alone in both spots, but if I play at 2E and hit something off the P or O then opp will just block it, so I thought it was in the spirit of competition to open another lane.
